Interesting Metro article. Quotes and all.
I'd very much get behind a deal for Carroll. In terms of squad numbers do we have a No. 8 yet? Just curious as it may be for another forward.
Didn't El Ahmadi wear the number 8 for the Burton friendly?
Pre season numbers mean nothing.
He is number 8 on offical website. Link

I love it, Ajax v Feyenoord on a Villa site. Only on VT, this why I love this site.
Amen to that!

Elia moved to Werder Bremen for only 5.5 million.
 Bargain!
-
Very smart, smart business from the club if this comes off!
And to think we paid over 3 times as much for Curtis Davies
-
God bless you Stan. Fantastic news!
-
just read he has 8 goals in 58 games, terrible record for a forward and definitely in last chance saloon
He has scored 50 goals for Villa in the Premier League.
Only Dwight Yorke has done the same.
He's in good company is our Gabby.
True but how many games did it take him to score 50?
-
I've always been very impressed with him whenever I've seen him.
Szczeny? He cost Arsenal the league cup with an absolute howler in the last minute of the final last year. He dropped one into his own net in Poland's biggest game in a decade during Euro 2012. He is a decent keeper, but error prone to say the least.
Yeah I agree. He cant handle the big games.

Steps : Tragedy
Introducing
EL-AHMADI
When he's got the ball
Bearing down on goal
EL-AHMADI
When the midfielders Cry
And you don't know why
It's hard to bear
With him biting your heels
Your going nowhere
EL-AHMADI
Sorry, OT, but you do know it's a Bee Gees song don't you?

I like his tattoos

@piersmorgan: If you go to Manchester City @Persie_Official - you'll be dead to me. DEAD.
A bit much isn't it.
I think of all the people in the world, all 7,000,000,000 people, Piers Morgan is the one who's opinion I care the least about. The man is an arsehole. The fact that he was still considered Arsenal's most embarrassing fan when Osama Bin Laden was still alive speaks volumes.
Bin Laden was an Arsenal fan?

Thats not harsh compare to his comments about Nasri
What did that dickhead say about Nasri?

Here's a video that explains it (or tries too) http://www.wimp.com/higgsboson/
Interesting part starts at 35 seconds
My brain just..err..exploded.

I think he's advocating ripping the club off Stevo. Like all decent fans do.
In all fairness the club did rip us off last season...
-
If we do sign him, presumably he's Petrov's replacement?
I hope we get a Premier League class replacement actually.
I think El-Ahmadi was good for Feijenoord but any level higher than the Eredivisie and I doub't he'd make it.
He's not that physically strong and while his vision is spot on I think he needs too much time on the ball to make those forward passes.
Would be pleased with this deal, assuming he's backup and not for the first team, but would also prefer Clasie for a couple million more.
El Ahmadi is deffo Premier League material and especially for Villa (if you don't mind me saying). Clasie is nowhere near PL level mainly because of his physique. He was subbed many a time this season because he had trouble adapting to the pace of the Eredivisie and therefore got tired after 70 mins. El Ahmadi was the real engine in midfield and he helped Clasie massively. When El Ahmadi wasn't in the team the midfield was 2 levels less.
El Ahmadi will not be the dominant creative playmaker on the ball (you rightly say that he is a bit of a mailman on the ball) but he can truly dominate a midfield and make sure that your team stays on the attack when pressing high up on the pitch.
For the people that do not know him...the vid below sums him up completely
Right on pretty much all accounts, but I still think most of the people on here are vastly overrating him. FWIW he can definitely do a job for us (especially for €2.8mill) but don't expect another Tioté. He is not the full on destroyer we need in midfield, he's actually quite similar to Barry but not as good.
And regariding Clasie: I'd prefer him because of his amazing talent. Yes he gets tired quickly but that's soething he can work on. For me he is a massive talent (even more than Gary Gardner IMO) and while it's true Feijenoord's midfield lacked when Clasie wasn't supported by KEA, I think the other way around was even more lacking.
The obvious answer would be to just sign them both!
By the way, a little fun fact: Feijenoord's very first home kit, back when they were still Wilhelmina was based on our very own Claret and Blue top!
According to Wikipedia, Clasie's just as tall as me sign him!
Same height as me too
Sign him for us dwarfs!

I'm trying to decide whether to get a long or short sleeved shirt, any opinions?
By the looks of it the short sleeve shirts, the sleeve comes to about the elbow I think and is quite baggy - so it depends whether you like that or not.
I'm still unsure what size shirt I should get because i was a small in Nike, but i'm not sure what size I should get in Macron...
Sleeves really dont providing you get the right size
here's a few 'facebook slag in mirror' shots for you all to enjoy
Sleeves normal, collar tucked in;
collar tucked in and sleeves rolled up, smug look on face;
apologies for darkness, only got a few lamps on tonight.
You're quite ugly to be fair
Extremely unnecessary.

Footballers are like women - more exciting when they're 19 and this is the first time you've met them.
What's not to like?

They will behead him after 8 league games.

*Keeps quiet*
Seriously cannot wait now for the away kit to come out, looked brilliant in the flesh so to speak. Such a refreshing change to have a completely mental change strip.
Anybody got any pics of the away kit in flesh? Or any other apart from the one on the OS where it looks yellow?
