I don't think anyone is blaming him.

I am. Total whiff at that clearance. Regardless of all things leading up to it, if he gets more of his boot on it then we may still have 3 points.

I'd bring on Davis for Samatta but with the proviso that he bullies the young CB.

Agreed. Samatta isn’t strong enough to bother Branthwaite. Our lack of offense has allowed him to get comfortable. Get Davis on and unsettle him.

Surely, we want Watford and West Ham to draw to minimize the total points awarded between our relegation rivals.  We have no idea which of them will do better in the following 2 games and it would be worst scenario going into the last 2 weeks relying on just one team to fail to get results.  Watford could well get a point or 3 off Arsenal, and West Ham could get something from Man U.  As long as both don’t get points from those games we’re in with a chance if we beat Everton.   If they both win those games it really doesn’t matter what happens when they play each other, as they’ll probably be out of reach anyway.

Id rather have Watford beat West Ham. That way it’s fewer teams in the relegation fight but 2 ties and a win is all we need versus 2 wins. West ham won’t get anything against Man U unless they play U23s but Watford could get something against Arsenal so gimme West Ham. Then it all comes down to us against West Ham on the final day.

In terms of Bournemouth I could see them stealing points from Everton but they aren’t getting anything from a hot Man City and Southampton. Luckily in this scenario, if they beat Everton it won’t be enough to catch us.

Perhaps I've missed that but it's not the way I see it. Mings has had the layed back attitude all along, chewing his gum and smiling, but at the same time showed passion. I haven't noticed that he doesn't care any more, perhaps you are right, just haven't noticed it.

I dont really get the fuss about his mistake, was it that he put his knee down for a block instead of rushing towards Greenwood? I agree he looked passive and that was the wrong decision, but not really a howler was it? Or was it something else in that incident that he did wrong that I didn't notice? Usually Mings has the right instinct and throws his body on the ground in front of the opponents, he usually also makes last ditch tackles. Compared to Hause, that is exactly what I constantly have been criticising Hause for, he never throws his body on the line or makes last ditch tackles. If Mings gets stick for on one or two occations going for the block instead of throwing himself on the line, what does that say about Hause who goes for the block or stands passive all the time?

I didn't blame Hause for that particular fault by Mings, my point was that Mings has not been at his best of lately and that Hause in general may have contributed to that. Mings has to constantly point to him where to be and needs to cover for him when he drifts out of position. I think this may contribute to Mings decline. With Engels for example, Mings can be more assured that Engels is in the right position and takes the right decisions more often (though Mings still needs to cover for him as he is slow on the turn).

Shit defender is the last thing I would say about Mings, he was immense last season and at the start of this season up until his injury. He sniffs out danger, is fast, makes last ditch tackles, has a superb passing ability. Agree he has looked rusty since the restart, but shit defender? Come on, like last season and the beginning of this season and his England caps haven't happened?

Thank you! It’s nice to see someone else who has a rational, objective perspective on his play. Great minds think alike.
