My (very likely incorrect) predictions:

3-2 Villa. We expose their defense a few times and capitalize on our chances while Mingels and Heaton do just enough to keep their offense in check.

OR

5-1 City. They score early and shatter our confidence. The floodgates open and it becomes a long day for us.

I have a hard time imagining a scenario where they don’t put 2+ past Heaton. To me our chances rely on confidence from our defense. We can’t get rattled if they score a couple, because if we do the score line could get ugly.

I don’t personally look like it as a complete free hit. I don’t expect any points, so it is in the sense that any result we get would be a complete bonus. But I do worry that if they absolutely batter us it could bruise our confidence going forward.

Just wanted to pop in and say that my Minnesota Golden Gophers (I’m an alumnus) are finally making some noise this fall. Maybe I just jinxed it, but whatever, this is the best Gopher team I’ve watched in my lifetime. Ski-U-Mah!

I signed up to be on the “interested” list they put out after the unveiling and still haven’t heard anything. I have no idea why, but I quite like the 3rd shirt and have held off buying either of the first two in favor of the green shirt. The fact you had to sign up to be on a list for the kit makes me think that it won’t be as widely available as the other two kits (which aren’t always widely available in themselves). 

You’d hope that they’d make it available before the match, because if we get slaughtered by Man City in it nobody will want to buy it post-match. 

To echo what others have said, with the debacle that seems to be the AVFC Shop right now, the best answer to your question is “who knows.”

I disagree, I think it’s a nice touch to put a star above your crest to commemorate a World Cup or Champions League title. Those are considered the pinnacles of international and club football, respectively. What I don’t like is MLS teams using stars to represent MLS Cup wins, that feels small time to me.

Does the PL allow stars above badges? I thought I heard somewhere that they don’t, but I may be wrong.

In regards to Villa, I’ve always thought that we should remove the star in our badge, it looks out of place. We don’t need a star above the badge for domestic competitions, but put one up above when we play in Europe.

Yeah absolutely, nobody knows. There’s every chance that he would’ve taken an offer to sell and cashed in on his investment. Although if he would’ve held onto the club it seems inevitable that his house of cards would’ve collapsed eventually. 

You’re right though, at the end of the day all that we know is that we seem to be in great hands with NSWE. A bright future is ahead!

Holy sh*t. Even when everyone was calling him a charlatan while the club was on the verge of collapsing, I would’ve never guessed it was this bad.

It's great with his goals and all, but I don't think scoring in cup games against sub par opposition leads to him doing this in the PL. 

This is how I feel. I don’t quite think he’s worthy of a start, but he’s a good choice if we’re chasing a goal in the last half hour of a match.

Giving up 3 goals to a 10 man squad. Disgraceful. No excuse for this result.

And now I was just notified that there won’t be any more goalkeeper shorts a available for the year. Ridiculous. At least I get my refund.

Not doing the lads any favors with the shirt sizes they’ve been given for the photoshoot. That has to be the elite fit shirt, right?

I thought our passing was shockingly bad today. Poor decisions and wrong weight far too often. Makes it too hard to break down defenses and create quality opportunities.

It’s hard for me to call Wesley shite, I think he suffers from a lack of creativity from many of our other players. He links up well with Jota, but Jota either doesn’t want to run or can’t. Overall our attack is very concerning. If we can’t start creating more for Wesley and capitalizing on our (few) opportunities we are in big trouble. 

Overall it’s a point, which gets us out of the bottom 3, but this one felt like a loss. We were thoroughly outworked after the red card, and there is simply no excuse for that. Every post match thread I say I’m not concerned yet (and I’m still not), but we need to start seeing results soon.

Wow I really hope that’s not the case. Club definitely said August, but I figured there were some behind the scenes production issues that have caused the delay. I would hope the club would announce a cancellation of the 3rd shirt considering they already announced one was coming

Potentially dumb question from a relatively new football fan... is there any actual change that could come from Villa filing a complaint? Besides an “apology” from the PL or FA
