Something worth considering: we won’t have to play him on the wing where he can’t be as effective due to the options we now have.
It thing its unrealistic that he can add something to this squad, 30 years old and never played in highest league anywhere in the world. Though he has played 24 caps and score 11 goals which is very good. But was scoring vs lower ranked afrikan nations.

Don't worry guys.
I'm sure Premier League clubs will stand in line to sign him, after all he got such good experience.
No i doubt it, but newly promoted teams with almost 0 top flight experience would consider it.

Jonsi77 let's not kid ourselves. Given that BB was not in the squad today and we've signed Douglas and will sign Nakamba he's gone.
I have a soft spot for him as well given how well he's done for Iceland but he's simply not been good enough for Villa if you look at it objectively.
I dont understand why he wasnt in squad today, if he was gamefit he would have been in the squad, considering how he has play in pre season

Alright, i think he would do better in PL than Championship. There are lots of player that have been able to play much better in PL than Championship.

The fact is Thor hasn’t got any PL experience. Playing against PL players in international matches is nothing like playing in the PL. Whether PL experience is beneficial or not, if you want to base your argument on facts, he simply hasn’t got any PL experience.
I know, but if you have played well and score versus top PL players in national games and played wll in Serie A you are closer to that experience than other in the squad who havent play in top 4 league and national. I have never said anything else

Can't you take this to Birkir thread so I don't have to read your constant obsessive posts about him?
Just pinpointing facts - no obsessions or speculations

Yes but playing International football against Premier League players is not the same as Premier League experience!!

Experience and competence are two entirely different things.
You gain experience through competence. Sampdoria, Basel, Pescara saw it at least.

I personally think that this PL experience factor is a bit clichéed and overrated tbh. Good footballers are good footballers and the teams and their respective players change over time. Birkir imo is not as good a footballer as our other options imo and after a few games our squad as a whole will have PL experience anyhow, whether beneficial or not.
I think PL experience is huge, most of the newly promoted teams last years who have choose to go in the league without it (apart from Burnley and Wolves) have been relegated.

Lets just wait and see shall we? I doubt it, but if Birkir somehow turns out to be a perfect fit in the PL I will be very happy.
Im not saying that he would be perfect fit for PL But if you look at experience (national, top 4 league in europe) then there are nobody else who have that experience. This experience is very valuable.

Look. If we had swedish players in the villa squad I probably would be quite partially biased too, but seriously mate...
My friend, i have been talking about facts (due to experience) not speculations.

What sell Thor our world class international midfield dynamo?? Surely not!!
No no, not world class, has been able to play well and score against high quality PL players in games that does matter.

Hope the club have remembered there's a 25 man squad rule!
This is exactly what I was talking about when debating with those that wanted Glen Whelan to stay, would you rather have him over Douglas or Marvelous?
Totally unexpericed players but very exceting. First year in PL and the team needs experience. Second year in PL i would take both of theme. I would skip Marvelous in the first year and have Whelan.

Just a polite question?
why so many posts on this guy?
I have seen him play for many years and i belive he deserves more credit than he has been given on this chat. I have been pinpoiting hes ability by facts not speculations.

It really isn't cause most people agreed Petrov was very good.
Anyway the idea that Bjarnason is some how treated unfairly, and be is worthy of getting his shot in the PL is just hilarious. He is absolutely bloody awful. He wasn't championship quality, so he obviously isn't PL quality. He is about the level of footballer you find in the Norwegian leagues, and that's not said as a compliment.
How about arguments which are closer to reality???

I totally disagree.
Birkir got a totally different role for his national team. I'm sure he could do a job for someone like Sean Dyche but he doesn't fit our style of play. His passing ability is just dog shit
dog shit!! come on you are almost 30 years old, show some class.
