He’s been at the club 9 months. This is gaslighting.
I get that but one game into this season with his first pre season under his belt, seems like mass hysteria on here. As I mentioned I just tried put a bit of perspective on things, it may turn out he's not gonna make the grade but, I'm gonna give him longer than one game into this season.

Gerrard's been in charge for a lot more than one game mate.
I believe this season there's been only one pal

Gerrard said in his interview that he was excited about the start of the new season, the players are excited and he believes the fans are getting excited as well.
I have to agree briny_ear, there are a small number of posters on VT that seem determined to take every event and opportunity to take a swipe at Gerrard and some of our players.
We have to realise that VT is at best a microcosm of Villa fans opinions, hopes and feelings. A small number of 'fans' are successfully bringing down the excitement and optimism that I believe a lot of us feel, by constantly rubbishing the manager and to a lesser extent some potentially excellent key players.
VT is in danger of becoming unrepresentative of the views of the majority of Villa fans. I personally love this forum, so I hope that we can bury the negative agendas and celebrate the very real and exciting possibilities for Aston Villa as we continue to stride forward.
Onwards and Upwards .... UTV !
Great post mate, spot on !

I am curious how it was so obvious
Probably cos of his popularity amongst the team to start with, the fact he's an out field player to, I'm not a massive fan of goal keepers being captain. Plus, he might take on the extra responsibility and thrive on it, let's face it sometimes Mings looked like it was weighing him down. Anyway for me it's not a shock like it seems to be amongst a lot of villa fans.

What ever people's stance on Gerrard is, let's be honest, mcginn was the obvious choice as captain.

Were lucky to have him, whether or not he turns out to be a top prem manager or not villa are moving forward with the player pull he has. We are not standing still as a club.

Doesn't matter how many chances you create if you don't finish them and defensively collapse.
We could have won. We didn't deserve to.
This is the villa way, only we could loose this with them stats lol

Saturday night ruined

We all seen that coming, only we could be 2-0 down after our chances we've had !

Now do wolves...
It won't be too far off, this £300m spent in the context of the league is not more than everyone else and definitely not in the context of our promotion team
They need to spend more, a lot more
If your players don't do the basics right were entitled to be pissed off

This is embarrassing, 330 million spent! The owners must be happy

SG was right to mention stature, but there aren't many teams to match west ham size wise. Bit disappointed we got pushed back so much but if ings scores we go on to win that game. We've closed the gap cos they smashed us at villa park. Not that much in it today for me.

We don't fully know the situation but it does feel like he don't want to be here, I say if he don't buy in, get rid! We are in a great position now with other good prospects coming through as has been mentioned.
-
Would love to see him fully firing after a run of games, great option to have of he stays fit.
-
Glad it's coming together for ings now, we all knew he was a top player
-
11 games left to watch his magic, I'm gonna enjoy and hope for more

Good game today meatball

This thread has only grown by four and an half pages in the last 24 hours, which is quite surprising given it's possibly the biggest signing in the history of the club. It's not just about the qualify of Coutinho as a player, but also about what it says about our owners, shows that they mean it when they say they want to take us to the next level.
Milot Rachica thread got to nearly 400 pages lol..... Thank **** we never signed him

I do get that, and I know people feel frustrated, I'm just choosing to give him chance after his first pre season with a few of his own signings, maybe my patience has improved with age.
