Not a good solution. Watkins is so much better as a striker than a winger. Ollie is a good hardworking winger at championship level, totally unproven as a winger in the Premier league. His one on one take on's simply aren't on the level of quality Premier league winger. If we played him wide we'd have to use him like Trezguet. To run hard, protect the fullback, link up and chip in with goals from the back post. With Tammy and Jack in your front 4 the press will be leaky.

Plus the biggest thing you're missing here is Ollie is a better striker than Tammy so why should he be shoved out wide for an inferior striker. Really we should buy a quality winger, put them on the wing and leave Ollie where he is!

No no no, you just don’t know that.

He was totally unproven as a ST in the Prem before he arrived. Lol.

Integrating Tammy into the first requires dropping Watkins and relaxing the press. So not really practical, especially as Ollie is better than Tammy.

Having him as Competition for Ollie means Tammy sitting on the bench alot, which considering he would be leaving Chelsea for first team football won't go down well with him. So not practical for Tammy.

We would have to move on Wesley as he definitely won't be happy if Tammy does come in. So finding him a buyer, a player that hasn't been fully fit for 18 months, with questions over whether he can make it in a top league, means a massive loss. Not practical.

Also Wesley would actually make a good partner for Ollie. As he also press quite well and likes to drop off and link up with midfield. He is also good with his back to goal so long as the ball is kept on the deck. So he would actually be a better option off the bench than Tammy.

So there you have it Tammy! Tammy to Villa simply isn't practical, so won't happen!

No it doesn’t lol. Move him out wide like Sadio Mane at Liverpool. Played wide under DS at Brentford whilst Maupay was there.

I think Tammy is perfect for us at this moment in time.

I'm not sure he's given up on Wes, but we have no clear idea how he will be next season.  I think the end is for Davis.  Yes having Ollie, Tammy and Wes seems like a lot but gives us options and depends where Wes can play as well.  Options are always good and three strikers in a 25 man squad isnt excessive either.

I agree but I think our best possible front four is Tammy up front, Jack, Beundia and Ollie behind.

That is proper top 6 stuff.

  4. Also, and rather sickenly, PC Monk and PC Bettley-Smith were shagging at the time.

I bet that wasn’t disclosed at the time to their superior officers. But if it was, to put a couple out on duty was just wrong.

No wonder the body cams were switched off for a period of time. Clearly when PC Monk was kicking Dalian in the head as otherwise there would have e been footage.

In my mind he definitely decided to hurt Dalian as badly as he could and used force likely to kill him.  The OTT tazering is bad enough but the head kicks of an unconscious man are disgusting and intended to cause serious harm to him.

Mate, that’s Grevious Bodily Harm. I mean how hard do you have to kick someone in the head to leave bootlace marks? Now to have done that Dalian must have been already incapacitated from the taser.

Phrase of kicking a man while their down comes to mind….

How on earth can that not be GBH?

Just imagine this scenario. Dalian overpowered the officer, got his Taser, repeatedly tasered him and kicked him in the head a few times. He’d have been up for murder and rightly found guilty.

However, it wasn’t that way round but it doesn’t change what one man did to another but this guy got lucky because he’s a police officer.

True. It’s just so disgusting and disturbing on so many levels. Hope the rocket polisher gets a long sentence.

Nope. I’m a lawyer by background and the basic definition between murder and manslaughter is an intention to kill or cause GBH which results in death.

Now the apparent excessive use of the taser and reported kicking in the head bit leads me to believe the GBH element was a strong case.

Jury have gone soft because he’s a copper imo.

According to Transfermarkt  Julián Álvarez has started 37 games at RW and 26 games as center forward for River, and then the odd game at other positions.

Pretty much all his games for Argentina at various levels has been at RW including his 1 cap at senior level.

Think it's safe to say he can play in more than 1 position and like most modern players he's not static in one area when he plays.

He’s 20 years old FFS. Before Maupay moved Watkins was a winger even though he was a ST at Exeter.

It is a bit nasty on here sometimes. Like people are deliberately trying to not understand what you are saying about how we probably overpaid for Mings at the time because of how much we wanted him but he’s actually turned out to be good value.

I don’t know your history because I haven’t been on here that long and I’m really bad at remembering any posters previous posts or opinions, I barely even register the names but I reckon if other people posted what you did nobody would bat an eyelid.

Thank you. I think given that you are relatively new on here you’ve taken a risk by speaking out.

I never took a dig at you, only inquired about some things you claimed. If you took it differently then let me at least clear up that I had no intention in doing so :)

My apologies I think I confused you for DaveAV1. My bad etc.

yes, hence the "sort of" haha.

No that’s not sort of, it’s like saying Konsa is a RB ‘sort of’.

I’m not a fan of square pegs and round holes when it comes to top flight football. Are you?

believed he was mostly a winger. ok so the same mold as Traore then sort of.

in any case I still don't think you can say that ESR = JG is off. JG is currently irreplaceable and I have full confidence our owners see it the same way.

No….Traore is a winger who supposedly can play ST (although I’ve never seen it).

Alvarez is a ST who can play RW.

    There is a difference.

I agree, raking over the same attention seeking tool’s posts are as pointless as they are boring. He’s our own click bait wannabe. He’ll probably join the Brum Mail when he finishes school.

Crikey, there really is bully boy culture on here isn’t there. I mean I’ve supported Villa for 30+ years. How.about you?

  13. 1 minute ago, osmark86 said:

but not if we sign Alvarez who'd be fighting for similar positions?

Jack is our most priced asset so I doubt any signings we make will be the deciding factor there. I don't think we'd even be entertaining offers as it stands and he's perfectly happy to be here.

Alvarez is a ST who can play RW…..that’s the difference.

  14. 1 minute ago, osmark86 said:

I don't think it necessarily works that way.

Why? I mean where does ESR play when we already have Jack, Beundia, Sansom, Traore, Chucky, AEG, Trez, JPB……yes that’s EIGHT players…fighting for three positions.

IF we sign ESR at £50m it’s bye bye Jack imo.

Can you imagine that two of the players who will be hoping to take Messi's spot for Argentina in the long run could be at Villa 🤣.

3 Argentine and 2 Brazilian internationals. It's a bloody exciting time to be a Villa fan.

...and we're instead discussing how quickly a player we sold over half a decade ago became good.

I am frankly amazed how Wes has come within a 20 mile radius of the Brazilian team.

As for the Benteke thing, posters are arguing the toss, not me.

Martinez was a reserve keeper, much to the folly of Arsenal.

Mings was a reserve defender, much to the folly of Bournemouth.

He certainly wasn't a reserve defender for us when it came to gaining promotion. Now idea what Godfrey has to do with anything as he's crap.

That really makes no sense. Obviously if they were first team players we wouldn’t have been able to sign them.

Godfrey was a comparison. You’re choosing to say he’s crap because you don’t like the comparison.

  17. 4 minutes ago, StanBalaban said:

Martinez was a bargain at £20m because of how good he's turned out to be.

Mings was a bargain at £20m because of how good he's turned out to be.

Again, you don’t understand the difference.

You’d have to be a footballing fool not to have realised Martinez was a bargain at the time. The same way that Heaton was such a stupid transfer at £8m.

Mings though was different. £25m two years ago for a reserve defender. I mean didn’t Godfrey cost less than that last year??

Can folk stop quoting a certain garden tool? I am blissfully unaware of his jibberings due to the ignore function until someone quotes them. Please stop!!!

anyhow - in an attempt to get back on topic!

if we had the choice between Alvarez or Smith-Rowe who should we go for?

I’d be happy with either but personally, I’d take ESR as he’s already played in the prem, speaks the language and will piss the Arsenal fanatics off!

However, Alvarez does look a decent prospect too.

I think there is a £30m difference between the two. The point is is if we sign ESR then Jack is off.

id like Jack to stay so £15m for Alvarez who I think is edging out Beundia from the Argentinian squad is an absolute snip.
