Don't they play in different positions?

They do but that kind of relevant information never seems to filter its way through to the debate.

I mean I see Alvarez as a sub to Watkins, play as a RW alternative to Traore. (Think AEG may get sold)

ESR would only ever play AM, and even then he’d be lucky to play there over Jack or Beundia.

I'm lost here. That doesn't seem to be a good example at all - are you saying Jewish is a nationality?

Racism is a form of xenophobia rather than the other way around, as xenophobia is fear of the foreign (in the sense of "different" rather than "from abroad"). Hitler was of course both. It certainly wasn't as simple as him hating all non-Germans though. Him not actually being German might be a bit of a giveaway there.

I do t think you understand the word form. It’s like maths and subsets and the like if you remember. The point is the two expressions overlap.

But logically, I find it hard to believe if you live in a largely white society and you hate your neighbouring largely white society that you then won’t have a beef if about your non-white minority.

But hey, that’s not just me saying that, just look at the history books.

Agreed. I love Tyrone. I think it's impossible to quantify how much I appreciate everything he's done for this team.

Don’t chicken out, you decided to make a stand against the racism angle that Tyrone was absolutely right to highlight and now you’ve gone into your shell.

I don't what the true answer is, but for me I always thought it's a bit of a catch 22. There is no doubt we are hearing more, as we and the media are talking about it more. The taking of the knee, the BLM project, the constant reporting of the comments on social media are just fuelling the racists to be heard more, because we all know, they really don't give a flying ******. An to be fair on social media, you'll probably find it's 90% idiots and 10% true racists.

That is such a stupid statement….BUT your stats is probably bang on. Right now it’s not the 10% true racists we need to be worried about first - let the police deal with them - it’s the 90% idiot RACISTS that should be in the firing line.

Sadly amplified by social media apps.

I think it’s true that social media apps give them their last remaining platform to be loud mouthed gobshites.

But racism is far more than this sad pathetic minority.

Jack’s best position is LW, it gives him the freedom to do what he does in the most dangerous position.  Forget England I’m talking about Villa.  Jack’s best position is LW, that’s also where Dean likes to play him.  Even when we had a problem at CAM last season Dean still played Jack left wing, that’s isn’t going to change.

Added to that getting in ESR who played most of his games at CAM for Arsenal and where he has excelled and got noticed, he will play CAM for us.

This is not hard to figure out!

I’m saying that Jack took a bullet for the club playing LW and that might change after he’s being ignored by Beaky by playing LW.

  7. Nick and Kiwi, just because Jack played LW last season and gets boxed in that position by Beaky doesn’t mean that’s where he wants to play. Jack’s England prospects go up a notch if he’s a direct rival to Mount.

Also we can’t stick a 20 year old kid as AM, it would be mad given we have both Jack and EMI II that can play there.

But on the LW position where he frequently operates (even though he’s not actually playing there)….i can really see that.

  8. I think what we’ve shown with Jack and other players is that if they deserve it they get a new contract at the end of the season.

We’re not going to be offering him more than Watkins, more like £50k a week tops but with the certainty he plays and if he does well that could double in two years.

  9. Posted this on another thread.

I know this isn’t the Academy or U23 thread but you have to admire the club’s new strategy of bringing in the best youngsters they can.

I mean, we won the FA Youth Cup  last season and a lot of clubs would have sat back and thought we’ve saved £50m+.

But what have we done? We’ve said that’s gone now and we’ve signed Feeny, Pierre, Burchall and (up the age range) Tim Ironbrew (😉).

What those 4 signings mean is that every player in that U18 squad will be looking over their shoulder as to whose coming through and that’s easily the best way to get the best out of the players that did win the FA Youth Cup.

I’ve read Ashley Preece’s Q&A and what a load of shite.  The guy has no contacts at the club, in his day today reporting just reports what others report and has no more inside knowledge that anybody on this forum.  He just gets paid for it.  You could’ve asked me and got similar answers.

I agree totally but when have any of the BMail journos had any reliable sources at the club. It’s a comic paper.

Where’s that being reported ? Just reading palace want Morgan Rogers from Citeh - ex WBA Yoof player that brought for up to £8mill but available for £7 mill - Harrison will know all about him so be interesting if we move in or not … can play anywhere across the front but prefers LW

I’ve mentioned Morgan Rogers before. Played alongside Louie Barry. Both departed WBA at the same time. Barry to Barca, Rogers to Citeh.

If we could buy Rogers outright (rather than it being somehow linked to Jack sale) then that would be fantastic.

"Concerning Pape Matar Sarr, negotiations suspended with Aston Villa who did not offer enough. Newcastle and Watford are also interested in the player"

Think this might be a simple negotiating tactic - I think Pape Sarr is still with the Senegal National Team for the SOAFA Cup.

If we’re not offering enough then Newcastle have zero chance of getting him. Probably Watford too.

It appears that we are after a ACM/LW to play with Jack and Emi and replace Barkley.

Who would people prefer out of those linked so far:

    • ESR
    • Ali
    • McNeil
    • Alvarez
    • Pereira
    • Cantwell

    Any others?

I’d take Alvarez in a shot as he can play AM/ST as well as RW. We just need to take the occasional bet on a player and for the reported £15m he would be a bargain.

And with both Emi’s in our squad - plus Wes, Luiz - the risk of him not settling should be much less.

As for ESR, I’d only want him if there was a genuine intent to build a team around Jack and not as an insurance policy.

  15. I love transfer speculation…..or identifying targets…..as much as anyone. I could reel off 20 players I’d love Villa to sign and Boubacar Kamara would be one of them.

However, all the noises coming out of VP is we’re looking for players tried and tested in Premier League/Champs.Beundia, Webcam, Tammy, Axel, JWP etc

From DS’s perspective that’s perfectly understandable given traumatic first season back in the Prem where he struggled to get a tune out of all our new signings.

DS, the owners and CEO know that if we keep Jack we’re on the cusp of breaking into the top 6 with some intelligent signings.

So they’re simply not going to blow £150m on overseas talent this year as much as maybe I’d like them to.

plenty of people don’t like Evans. His articles rely heavily on his own guesswork and he has no real connection to the club

Has anyone at the BMail rag EVER had a well connected relationship with the media?

Carney is tall, athletic, and has excellent technique. As he fills out and get stronger and if he works hard on his fitness and gain experience he will go from strength to strength.

Massive talent, just needs to make sure he works hard enough to do his talent justice. The greater the talent the more work is needed to develop it. Literally anything can happen with him. He could be a better version of Bellingham, or end up like the Moore brothers.

Agree with everything you say but if his talent trajectory continue I see him as being as good as Pogba potentially.

  18. I personally don’t see the obsession of bringing in another CM/DCM ahead of either back up ST or CB.

Now depending who we play as AM, we have two CM slots up for grabs and we have SJM, Luiz, Sansom, Nakamba and Ramsey.

So unless SJM gets pushed up into AM or Ramsey goes out on loan we have 5 CMs fighting for two spots.

But even if we do get another one in I wouldn’t spend silly money. Berg, Sarr or even Will Hughes.

I know we’ve been linked to JWP - and I think he’s be great - but I wouldn’t want to see that transfer as spending Jack’s transfer fee.

You will score goals at a higher rate as a substitute than as a 90 minute player. First you are playing against tired legs which means there will be mroe chances. And also your team will likely be trying to score if they are bringing on an attacking substitute.

Are you Beaky by any chance?
