Got told a few weeks ago that we were also negotiating for a keeper from a European club as another option. Won't share a name as I read other clubs are in for him and we know journalists love to get their stories from VT. Hes a good player tho and I think he is 26 or 27 and I would be confident we wouldn't see many howlers from him if he signed.

Don't give us his name. Just his date of birth, club, height and previous clubs will do.

Rotational player I imagine.  Looking at what we're doing, I think there's one more wide player to come in.  Ideally giving us (I suppose), El Ghazi, Trezeguet, Jota and <x> as our options.  Would expect Green to be loaned again, unless we don't manage to bring in <x>.

Yeah, I think we'll sign a quality wide player for big money at some point. It seems to be the only position so far we haven't bought a first teamer for. Maybe we'll go full on meltdown mode and go for Bergwijn or Lozano from PSV!

I don't get why this is surprising. Even if Chester could play a bit, we needed another CB. Our squad is simply too thin.

Exactly this. At the moment we have Mings, Hause, Konsa and let's just assume Chester is fit. 4 centre back is not enough for a whole season. And if Chester is crocked, then we have 3! And one of them is very young and may take a few years before he's ready for the Prem. So I'd say we'd be mad not to get in one or two more centre backs really.

I don't get the Villa Report dig, all they do is just re-post news from media outlets and quote the respective source.

And no, I don't run Villa Report!

    🤣

Yeah, they are probably the most useful account on Twitter. Saves you having to click on the pathetic, embarrassing, cringeworthy clickbait articles.

I've seen something let's put it that way.

Popped into the Villa store. They said release date is 9th July with kits going on sale towards the end of the month.

    Like what you saw?

oh my, just seen a new low for a click bait headline.

"Smith is aching for him" - Whelan names "stunning" player Aston Villa trying to sign.

I havent clicked on that link cus......STFU stupid click bait :), but oh my......."aching for him".......wtf how nauseatingly bleh.

Modern "journalists" - named loosely, need to be rounded up and.......have a stern talking to.....

Is it only me that gets insanely infuriated by these clickbait headlines?!! They are the most cringe worthy, pathetic things! I'd be embarrassed if I was a "journalist" writing crap like this!

    Rant over!

I love Davis. If he gets a loan to the Championship this season, I see no reason why he can't become a reliable target man option in a Premier League squad.

Yeah, me too. He changes the game pretty much every time he comes on as sub. He's got pace, an immense amount of strength and power, decent in the air and has a good touch. If he can have a season on loan somewhere where he will be number 1 striker and start adding a few goals to his game, then there's no reason why he can't be a quality player.

    Nope, I'm not having that.

Even if we exclude the Ivory Coast international Kodjia, we still have a number of players that are better than RHM.

I'd put money on O'Hare, Davis and Hogan all having better careers than RHM. Davis did more in a 3-month spell for us in the Championship than RHM has ever managed since he seemed to be getting out of the U21s years ago.

Agreed. I actually really rate Davis. Can definitely see him having a decent career in the Championship. Hogan has already proven in the past that he does have some ability. With RHM, we are going purely on potential. But I'm not even sure what that potential is based on.

  9. I cannot believe that after just being promoted and having two ambitious billionaire owners on board who want to take us to the top that we are even debating RHM and Austin being good options. What's happened to our ambition? There is a whole continent of players out there. Many of them are very good value and far far better options than both of them. It's like winning the Euromillions and Lotto in the same week and buying a new car but debating between a Citroen and a Peugeot.

Thankfully, I'm pretty sure the people in charge of the club do have far greater ambitions than crap like that.

Cahill rumour has come from that 'Jimmy McCann' twitter account. I don't think its especially reliable.

I've been following him for about a week and first impressions are he might have some credibility. Seems to have got a few things right.
