  1. This handball rule is bloody ridiculous. The wolves goal should have stood, games going if you're giving handball for that imo. They're trying to maker the game black and white unfortunately, there's no middle ground. I'd be raging if that went against us. It's going to cause problems unfortunately we as fans will have to get used to it

  2. Must admit I had reservations about bringing in a lot of players. But to be fair, the ones we've brought in have either worked with Smith before, were here last season or are (by and large) young players with a point to prove. Really pleased with what we've done so far in all fairness, looks like we've brought in the right type of players too. We may need to be patient - it won't all click overnight. Might be a month or two before we really start to see this team click into gear. Hats off to Purslow and the recruitment team so far though - good forward planning and clearly had many of these ready to go for a while.

In talks for Ruben Dias apparently, a Mendes client of course,  but if it happens will be a big coup and statement of intent from them.

That would be truly ridiculous. Could easily play for a top club

If Leeds offer him 30k-40k a week we could easily make it 60k

Personally mot bothered if he comes or not. Very over hyped player

This. We can do better imo

I think you need to calm down with your Lupinophilia. If that's not a word then I've just created it.

I agree with your other points. We can't say we're as good or better than Wolves when we dont even have a squad to speak of right now.

But saying Nuno is miles better isnt fair. He's further down the road in his club's development than Deano is and has had a chance to build his own squad from unrealistically good resources. To be fair he's done very well with those resources.

Let's see where they both are in a year or so and compare. I'm not having your claim though. Not yet.

Disagree completely but each to their own.

They all have fancy names so they must be good!  I think we will the double over them next season and regain our crown as being the Kings of the Midlands. They don’t strike fear in me, far from it, our demolition job of the season before the one just gone when we beat them 4-1 at Villa Park proved that

Delusional. Clearly a wind up merchant

    Miles better? Really.

You argue the point with @sir_gary_cahill saying that wolves are full of seasoned internationals and are miles apart from us, so I'm not sure you can then go on to say that Nuno is miles better based on his achievements.

Smith took a side up that contained Neil Taylor, Albert Adomah and Alan Hutton for crying out loud.

Smith took a side up that was expensively assembled, like Nuno did. Likewise, you could point out that Nuno took a side up consisting of Matt Doherty,Ryan Bennett and Conor Coady, hardly superstars at the time and were deemed useless before Nuno coached them. Yes miles better - Nuno has managed in the champions league at 2 clubs, got a small Portugese club Rio Ave into the europa league and totally transformed Wolves the last 2 years. Deano's worked at Walsall and Brentford. Seriously, get those rose tinted glasses off. I like Smith a lot and he's got potential to be a very good manager for us going forward - and like many others  I backed him all season to come through it even through that very patchy spell. But he's nowhere near Nuno's level, or any of the others in that top half like your Marco Silvas etc. Let's be real about this and not look through those Claret and Blue glasses.

We’ll dominate them in both fixtures too!

Bullshit. Look at their side - likes of Patricio, Boly, Neves, Moutinho, Dendoncker, Jota, Jonny, Jimenez. Seasoned internationals - behave yourself. Absolutely miles apart. Not saying we can't compete with them on the day when we face them obviously, but dominating? Can only assume you've had a few drinks.

  10. On the face of it doesn't look an exciting signing, however as I said before I don't expect lots of big signings this summer. I expect players like this who come in with a point to prove, with some cheap loans/loan with a view to buy from abroad to supplement the loans we make permanent (Mings, Hause). A player Smith knows well, and let's face it he's been playing in a dog of a blues side who play horrible ugly long ball football. Should suit us better than he did them. Get behind him

I thought it was Diogo Jota when I first saw this thread :(

Me too, I too got excited :( still, decent squad player.

  12. This may be a tad unpopular, but my take on it is that although we need to strengthen, we need to be careful not to disrupt the dynamic of the dressing room that got us here. I imagine we'll see mostly young, hungry players with a point to prove from both overseas and here, rather than splashing big sums of money on superstars right away. I'll hazard a guess that 5 or 6 will come in, as well as tying up Mings, El Ghazi, Hause and Tammy (depending on the situation at Chelsea). That'll be more than okay for this window, then we'll review the situation again in January and see where we are. I understand people's concerns, ie that we finished 5th in the championship therefore there's a bit of work to be done, however it can easily go the other way if we splash silly money on a lot of players. Young, hungry with a point to prove plus tying up the loanees seems the sensible option to me.

This though is where you have to draw the line between sentiment and doing the right thing. Whelan been brilliant for us but like another poster alluded to, premier league players haven't got worse. So he won't be able for it, simple as. It's the coaching staffs job to be good behind the scenes and motivate the team. Can't keep a lad on the playing staff in the premier league when he isn't good enough to play in it. No. Fulham got it all wrong. I agree but we won't go that way i feel. It's fairly obvious what we need. New LB. Central midfielder.  If Tammy leaves, new striker.

I understand that, however it wouldn't harm to keep one or two senior pros in the dressing room for another year. Obviously he wouldn't play many games, but don't underestimate big characters like that behind the scenes in what will be a tough season next year. I get the sentiment thing, for me keeping him wouldn't be sentiment. It would be necessity of keeping a good character around the place (short term, just a year) which wouldn't harm anything imo. If anything, the ones we ought to be moving on are the Bjarnasons and the Lansburys.
