It was a foul all day long. Striker jumps into villa player - free out all day long.
penalty? Only if you are blind or corrupt

My blood pressure will never return to normal

Mike dean determined to make headlines

I dare not say it, but looking much, much better tonight. If only we had a striker on the pitch....
Why. Why did you have to say it.

Good result. Beat the team in front of us, got goals for our strikers, didn’t concede.
Wes and Kodj will take a lot of confidence from that.
sky commentary / punditry was atrocious - sounded like we were listening to liverpoolTV

If you had offered me 11th with 11 points after 9 games I would have bitten your hand off, and then torn your arm off and kept that....for good measure.
Absolutely and completely this. We are in for 3 really tough fixtures now, and any points from the next two should be seen as a total bonus. The table might not look as pretty in a months time and I won’t be that concerned - because, in my mind, for this year - anything better than survival on goal difference, is like winning the lottery and I think we are well on course.

Woo and furthermore Hoo.
Wesley immense.
thought Jota and Engels had stormer was well

That ball from Jota for the goal - gorgeous.
Made possible by the run from Guilbert, which gave him time and space.
If we had the same on the other side with Taylor (who is sitting deep), we'd see more from Trez
Guilbert has been out of position defensively some of the time but he has really contributed going forward.
taylor has been out of position defensively most of the time but he has only really contributed to my stress levels.

If you don't love Wes after that 45 minutes there is something wrong with you. Also was it just me or did Andre Gomes look dogs mess in that half
If I wasn’t his number one fan after the goal, I certainly was by the time he had finished giving Yerry Mina a stern talking to.

Tough to take.
real positives to take from the game. Engels, Mings and Heaton will won us more points than any villa defence for a long time.

Balls.
This will sting but there are a lot of positives to take from this

There’s a bit more space now. We look less organised and they look more dangerous

Agreed. Whatever happens over the next 45mins there have been enough positives to instill confidence for the rest of tbe season
Exactly this.

I’d forgotten how high my blood pressure gets during villa games!
they've been great. Some lapses of concentration which might cost us but we are really well organised.
Wesley probably needs a bit of time to adjust to the level of “accepted” physicality in the league. Trez looks exciting, super john looks every bit the 50 million euro player Utd need instead of pogba!
can we close out the game? I don’t know. But I do know the villa are playing last years champions league finalists and don’t look off the pace!

I am a bit worried about our reliance on Jack though. He’s a great player and at the heart of everything that makes us tick - but I’m genuinely concerned about the effect an injury to him would have. Not just that we would be losing a key component of our first 11 but there might also be a bit of a psychological blow to the squad as well. If he can stay fit, I really believe we can cement a place in this league again, but if teams spend the season kicking him up in the air (like last year) and he gets unlucky and spends a bit of time on the sidelines, I’m not anywhere near as confident.

We are 10 behind with 3 games to go so not only would Leeds & Sheffield united have to lose all their games, They would also both need to be deducted points.
Seems unlikely
So you’re saying there’s a chance . . .

I can't be happy because of Tammy.
Ditto. It could be a massive loss for the playoffs - the way he was holding it coming off looked very worrying

Villa very much the better side second half.
Penalty was a massive decision, although you were already well on top at the point it was awarded.
Good game. Hell of a keeper you have there.

I understand the frustration with Conor missing a few but i’m just delighted to have midfielders who are everywhere (McGinn) and scoring regularly (Hourihane) and that’s before we even think about jack

I’d say our defence would improve if we just asked him to play fly keeper ?
