Where has the fee of £100m come from? I have heard it maybe a lot less than that.
I'd take 90m and a public apology for sending us Stephen Ireland

AVFV .. must be dodgy
Sorry full thing is 'TheReal AVFV ITK'
- hope that clears up any concerns about legitimacy

Well it does have a relatively decent following, and posts things fairly mundane in a way that most players do about their day at training. Bit bizarre really
The tweet was retweeted by AVFV official so I assume it's genuine account

Interesting that his twitter account isn't verified...is it even him?
Probably not then, I don't think anyone else had picked up on that so well done if so!

I do wonder how this will impact Buendia, as I did read assurances over Grealish were used to persuade him to join us over Arsenal. How true they were I've no idea.
Possibly hinted at by Buendias tweet about success

Sorry, but it was a year after we made an FA Cup final and finished 6th, the season he left we finished 8th, both seasons way in front of Middlesbrough. It had nothing to do with Villa’s ambition and more to do with players having there heads turned.
We may not have been able to compete with some of those clubs throwing money around, but what eventually happens to them? Leeds etc.
Fair enough mate, it seems we have slightly different recollections of that period. I suppose the truth is somewhere in the middle
For me we were really poor in that Cup Final, and felt the club was going backwards in general having finished runners up under Atkinson then 4th under Little. Just felt like we didnt seem to want to push on
Shocking that he went to Boro, but it seems he'd burnt his bridges by that point.
It's funny (well not 'funny' but you know what I mean) how it can still rankle all these years later. Expect this conversation to be re-had in twenty odd years time but about Grealish instead

He was a Villa captain, they should be leaders, not walk out on the club and to Middlesbrough. They were a blip, they are not Villa.
Yeah that's the view from the stands, and it sure hurts us fans when they leave. But in reality the best players are also ambitious professionals who are going to want to progress when the club isnt.
The toughest thing to take now is that we are progressing fast, and yet we still can't keep hold of someone who supposedly loves the club. For me this hurts most and will probably be the sorest walkout of all my favourite players
Not suggesting we upgrade Southgate to club legend

goes into the same bucket as Southgate and others
Feel that's a bit unfair on Southgate. The ambition of the club now compared to back then are worlds apart. If southgates tenure was now I don't think he'd push for a move like he did back then.

To be fair, he's only saying what was already reported, that Man City had booked a medical. It doesn't mean Jack is going there to undertake that medical.
Exactly. 'Booking a medical' could simply refer to Man City making sure they've got the relevant physicians at hand on a given day, should it progress to that stage

Feeling confident he'll stay Villans?
Villa could be looking to increase the deal to try and persuade him to stay
City could be increasing their contract offer in response
CIty and Villa could still be deciding on a final value or a payment structure for the transfer fee
Whatever happens, Grealish will be the winner here.
Everytime you post this gets stuck in my head again

But at the same time, if he's staying, why wouldn't we announce it?
Contracts are being drawn up at the moment. Suppose this one is more complicated and not scrawled on a beer mat
Can't jump the gun an announce it for obvious reasons, hence all the sneaky social media team posts etc
That's my guess.

Does anybody else think there's a Morse code message hidden in Gareth Southgate's excessive blinking?

I think Southgate is playing for penalties and plans to take the winning kick

This is so exciting to watch! A genuine poacher type who reads the play well, positions himself well and can finish one touch from all sorts of positions. 26 goals without penalties is spectacular at Championship level.
We'd have paid this much for Tammy last year if Chelsea didn't have the transfer ban, and I see this as just as good a signing.
Absolutely thrilled. Most exciting signing since what, Carew?

Grealish, Lansbury, Cash.
Are we hoping to confuse opponents next season just by fielding a team of stupid haircuts?

Apparently he was in/about training this afternoon, sitting around waiting to get on a plane to manchester this evening
Apparently the plane had been sitting around for 2 days for Grealish to get on it, so make of that what you can!
