sorry bout the flood of posts... but just read that Sheyi Ojo deal with Newcastle has collapsed and that a loan deal is imminent to the Championship with boro and Fulham favourites. Disappointed we're not even linked, definitely the type of player we need for this season

Has one club got more players than us? No seriously anyone? We must have one of the largest squads in the country.
I think we're rivalling the toffees... although a poorer version

Why not put your neck on the line and pick some players who you think have potential but are not generally fancied instead of gutlessly shooting down those who do. Then we'll see which players end up going further in their careers.
i don't fancy waiting for said careers to be over to say i told you so... however, you've lost any credibility that you had stating that Tommy Oar would be a good signing for any championship team let alone a team that is as expensively assembled as Villa, who are aiming for promotion.
Unfortunately, there's only a handful of Aussies that are worth a Villa jersey, and as AJ correctly pointed out, they mostly play in goals and/or are out of our reach namely Mooy.
But to throw you a little bone, a kid by the name of Sebastian Pesquale would be one for the future but faces a crucial season ahead of him in his development

Tommy Oar is the other Socceroo I would have liked. Another underrated player. Would have been a good fit for us as well as he's predominantly a LW. He's just signed for AOEL FC from Brisbane Roar.
now you're definitely taking the piss with this one!!

If we're to sign an Aussie, it had to Mooy... but since we missed that boat, then Rogic would be the next best but definitely not one of Bruce's types as he doesn't trail back too often and is creative

hope this works out for both parties... I really don't rate Elphick as a player and not even going near Richards and with Baker forever injured, he could be a useful cheap addition to the squad

What a nice name he has
nice find Demitri... did not see this being announced anywhere tbh.
and to think our scouts were only focussing on Terry and Whelan...

cant see why Hutton would want to go to Weds... doubt theyd offer enough coin at him to make him jump

I can't believe Everton want to buy Rooney as they're back up keeper. Rooney wants to play not sit on the bench, so he should look for a club where he can be 1st choice.
well... Bruce is looking for a 1st choice

I wonder if he'll pick up the vacant number 10 shirt. I seem to remember when he joined he opted against number 9, and preferred a number in the 20's as some superstition. I may, however, be wrong. (My wife tells me I normally am)
im thinking the 10 was offered before the Terry announcement. Hope so

How many championship players have made an England tournament squad ??? There's your answer in regards to our chances of signing Hart.
Though I guess we will technically be a Prem team when the WC kicks off
seriously the only way we could have to sign Hart if he is still stuck at Citeh 7pm transfer deadline day and his only option is us or being left out of Citehs squad for the season.
so you're saying there's a chance???

is he transfer listed? if not, if he's desperate to leave, why doesn't he hand in a transfer request?

I'm starting to get worried about the reports of all these promotion bonuses. How much more was it that Tony would have to pay Lerner if we were promoted the second season? If the reports are true, John Terry would get a good chunk if get promoted, and we will probably not be able to use him in the PL. I guess other players have promotion bonuses as well. As I see it, we only have a handful of players who are good enough for the PL, Chester, Taylor, Grealish, Kodjia, perhaps Lansbury and McCormack as well. Nevertheless we would need to buy half a new team to avoid another relegation battle. Considering an average player cost around £10m we are in for a hefty outlay, I hope we have money left!
let's cross that bridge when the time comes...

Well your left back should never be your best player, really. As stated above, they're generally used to complement good teams rather than being a focal point. All of the best full backs I can think of played in very good teams - Cafu, Roberto Carlos, Lahm etc.
Just like every other position for that matter...

Cant see us getting the money we paid for him, but no need to rush and accept the first bid that comes in.
