“As lifelong football fans, we are excited and privileged to have become part of this great Club. We believe that together we bring business and sports experience that will help strengthen the Club to ensure Aston Villa can return to its rightful place in the upper echelons of English football.

Become part - not own or control.    - starting to sound like a loan

To me this ties in with reports that it would initially be a controlling stake......presumably to get cash into the club immediately. Which will then lead to a full takeover.

Really can't see any reason to be sceptical yet

The problem with Xia is that he was unable to put his own cash into the club in a way that would satisfy FFP. Anew owner would be in the position to do that ( as long as he has the wherewithall of course). Xia's only course was to borrow against property or future assets which is NOT allowed by FFP

Erm...I'd say it was more to do with him having no cash to put into the club!

Does this Dave Jenkins have any credibility?

Has 38.3k followers.....a lot of people would appear to trust what he says. Think some journos follow him too.

Gut feeling is credible source....but been wrong before ?

Sick of these overseas absent owners - I want a bloke called George from Alum Rock to buy us.

Apparently Xia told him no.....He wanted a larger than 20% stake. Minted he is aswell. Owns the Fruit & Veg shop at the Pelham!

Think he's written it in a pretty non-committal way in that he doesn't know whether it's a sale or investment.

Well his track record suggests he gets his 'news' from Twitter!

I would say without doubt he has no idea what is happening....I mean, who is gonna be telling him? If there is an NDA in place, nobody will be telling that moron anything.

Thatcherlover on Twitter has just said "It's happening" and "Villa are saved".

So basically that means we're screwed.

I don't know if he's right or not...only time will tell. His tweets have often tied up with what other people seem to think too, so I wouldn't quosh it immediately.

If you look through his timeline, 90% of his tweets are politics related. He doesn't put much stuff out about Villa...perhaps he knows somebody that knows?

One thing that I'm struggling to get to grips with, is that if the figures are as bad as many of the reports have made out (ie: a £4m-£5m deficit every month), then why aren't we flogging off a load of our players already?

We have a fairly big squad, with plenty of players that could easily be sold for £2-3m, so why aren't we seeing any movement?

If we genuinely have no money at all, to the point that we're needing fresh investment or loans every month, then surely the next concern will be that we can't afford to pay players and staff wages, at which point administration and further fines become a real threat.

The club must know how much is in the coffers, and how much is due to be paid in each month, so why are we not seeing the firesale that we all predicted?

Is it that the monthly deficit was exaggerated? Maybe we do have that deficit but Xia has told the club to not sell any players while he's looking for investment/ or while this apparant takeover is going on? Maybe that rumoured loan a few weeks back was real? Or maybe it's just the case that there is no-one in charge to agree transfers. That last one, I can't imagine being the case. Even in our current situation, we'd surely have someone at the top that could say "Transfer list him, him, him and him. Offer him, him, him & him to the following clubs" etc.

Because we could be about to be taken over?....like imminently maybe (hopefully)?

New prospective owners may be able to plug the cashflow problems so as to avoid a firesale.

Sure, players will go this summer....but perhaps (hopefully) a new owner with a new vision and a sensible plan can avoid us having to get rid of everyone?

If there are ongoing talks, like proper advanced talks then surely player sales/purchases would be on hold until it all went through?

So I heard today that between now and the year 2022 we will hear something on a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday or Sunday that will be in some way connected to the ownership of the club.

I can't pass on where I heard this from but they're totally credible, honest, please everyone give me some attention.

You should get yourself a girlfriend mate.

So the “announcement” wasn’t 9 or 10 am UK time....

Playing devil's advocate....I don't recall anyone saying there will be announcement....ever, never mind today!

My reading of it was.....there could well be 'news' coming from somewhere today....so presumable this could be an official announcement from the club, a tweet from the man himself, a story leaked to a trusted journo....anything.

Also, there may be no news whatsoever, as the poster stressed several times.

This is a discussion forum is it not? People write stuff, others read it. You either agree with it, challenge it or ignore it. Sarcastic piss taking is a bit boring in all honesty!

Just to try and clarify where we are now, does anyone think that Dr Tony Xia has any money? I don't mean business shares or small percentages of failing businesses, I mean actual cash, like in cash flow?

If the answer is no then a sale is inevitable. No investors in their right minds will hand over cash to Dr T for a minority share of AVFC, so an outright 100% sale will happen.

    The question is .... when?

The next question is .... Will it be before or after he's able to bank the 'reduced for quick cash only' sales of players like Grealish and Chester? Dr T has until August 9th to asset strip the playing staff if that's his intention, after that the monthly cash outlay for wages and PAYE can only be raised by further borrowing.

With no further parachute payments (after this current one) promotion would be the only way for Dr T not to continue losing money, and that is not a likely scenario with the loss of key players. He must realise this, so a sale of AVFC should be imminent.

This scenario makes perfect sense in the real world....but I fear Xia lives in some parallel universe. We can only guess what's going on in his head at the moment!

    Oh, understood.

    So they had their reservations.

You can bet they identified a "safer" group and we went for the shiniest looking thing then,

Hopefully one of those groups come back in, but what a wasted opportunity, typical Villa.

We could have done a Wolves before Wolves with ease ffs.

Well there is more than a strong rumour that Fosun wanted Villa before they moved for Wolves. If that's true then it's just Villa all over isn't it!

  12. 12 minutes ago, romavillan said:

Well, if it's true he's turned down £40m for us, that would make the whole club worth a Grealish. Is there some way we can just give the club to Grealish for staying?

Really though, if he's turning down bids and he's struggling to find £4-6m a month to drop in the black hole that is AVFC financially I don't get it, either there's a bigger offer on it's way or he's mental surely? Tunr down £40m now and in two months he'll have lost another £8-12m, what would be the point in doing that?

It's all a bit sad and confusing this mess.

'HE' isn't losing though is he....it's the club that is losing out. Future revenues, property, players etc....Xia is gonna hold on to get his money back from his initial purchase plus anything he has put in since (not much I wouldn't of thought). My worry is he turns to another shadowy chinese consortium like TTA up the road!

I might be wrong, but I believe that one of the biggest earners will be transfer and loan fees, and all we know for certain is the Amavi sale money and Carlos Sanchez 2016 loan fee has been cashed in. You also state the Veretout money, but I'm skeptical until I see that proof, just because I saw lots of people incorrectly thinking that the Sanchez money (from Fiorentina) was for Veretout because he went to Fiorentina, but the documentation from a few days ago was all relating to Carlos Sanchez. There was also a paper rumour a month ago that we had contacted Burnley for money due for Ashley Westwood. Other than those names mentioned above, I haven't seen other reports to lead me to believe that we've cashed in on the other 20+ transfer/ loan fees from the same time period. As pointed out a few pages back, lack of evidence doesn't prove that we haven't privately contacted other clubs to ask for a settlement of fees, but based on what we know for certain on cashed in player fees, I believe will still have a large amount of funds due to us that would be considered much more than 'small fry'.

As always. 'My opinion'. I'm not trying to start arguments with anyone. I feel the need to add this caveat now, as people seem to feel the need to jump on any posts that aren't vehemently criticising the owner.

If we are calling in £750k due to us in January, I think it's quite obvious we have called in every penny we can get already....whether it's in the public domain or not!

I mean, how desperate must we be to collect £1m last week when we were due it next week anyway....and then call in a poultry £750k due in January 2019? Not forgetting both of these fees will incorporate some sort of charge presumable, so we probably won't even collect the full £1.75m.......We seriously do not have a pot to piss in at the moment.

I find it staggering that people are still in denial over the position the club are clearly in!

And largely fictitious CV from the sound of it....

Bit like the owners CV then ?

Gu Yanfang has been around a while. She was appointed as a director to Aston Villa Football Club in November 2016. I think she has replaced Wyness on the board of all the related companies he sat on, and she never!

  15. TONY XIA IN TALKS TO SELL CLUB

    MAIL EXCLUSIVE!

    https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/exclusive-tony-xia-talks-sell-14833584

"Aston Villa’s precarious future could soon be resolved as Tony Xia discusses takeover bids with two interested parties.

BirminghamLive understands that Xia rejected a 51 per-cent offer from a European bidder yesterday.

A financial package that would have met Xia’s requirements of up to £40million of investment was put forward - but he knocked it back.

Negotiations with two other serious bidders are now planned as the Chinese owner tries to find a way out of the current mess."

So what is your explanation of us cashing in the Amavi and Sanchez money and missing the tax bill that makes it all OK and puts Xia in a better light?

As @WaccoeOnline said yesterday, cashing in a measly £1m last week when we were due to receive it next week anyway is possibly the biggest indicator of the mess we are in. Forgetting everything else, this alone should be setting alarm bells off left, right and center!
