No, he isn't. He is being blamed for his woeful tactics, decisions in games and inability to create anything like a decent football side despite spending a small fortune. He is not being blamed for mistakes by others. Neither is he subject to irrational hostility he is being criticised for his poor performance.

And no its not a vendetta, nobody being critical of him is seeing to cause him harm. Yes people want him sacked that isn't a vendetta.

As for dismissing others opinions. Actually that is what you were doing when you accusing those being critical of making him a scapegoat.

Calm down fella's, only football, we all have different opinions, I personally disagree with your views on RDM.

And to an extent agree with srsmithusa, but all subjective, that's probably the reason we all love football, in our heads we are all football chairmen who think the answers are really simple and we could do a better job, reality is we couldn't, if we could we would be managing Barcelona, so let's just get behind the team for once, win lose or draw, let's pretend we have the greatest manager, we know he isn't but he is ours so let's treat him like he is one of ours instead of ostracising him at the earliest opportunity. If we believe in the team (or pretend too) then they will start believing too.

Agreed , 4 is the absolute minimum in these 2 games - if we fail then I expect he will go

looks like Pearson is finished at derby having been suspended this afternoon by the club and reports he will be sacked tomorrow - Derby have acted fast and Steve Bruce and Gary rowett will be strongly tipped for that job so if xia is considering one of those he will need to act fast .

I pray he isn't considering those two

That would be the Rowett who after starting very well had the following 9 game sequence from 17/1/15 - 28/2/15

    Pld 9 W 1 D 5 L 3 F 9 A 12..............................as opposed to RDM's

    Pld 9 W 1 D 6 L 2 F9 A 9 .......................?

SO those who would sack RDM after 9 games would've done the same with Rowett ? And in his case this was definite evidence of a massive downturn in form and results, not a case of him not having quite got it right yet.

Fortunately, for them, and especially for his reputation on here, they persisted with him for more than those 9 games..................

    Haha great point!

Good Blog here from avillafan....pretty much hits the nail on the head for me.

What a brilliant spot on blog post! Cannot fault it, echoes my sentiments exactly!

Great read, thanks for posting Nigel, really puts it into perspective.

  5. Think the newspaper reports are a load of made up nonsense.

Dr Tony knows it was a big job, I imagine RDM will get 20 games to prove himself, even if bottom after 20 games, we could still get s play off place, nothing to stress about JUST yet.

We are not playing in the premier league anymore.

Most clubs spend 2-5m at this level, that's what the likes of SHA and Huddersfield do anyway.

50m should be more than good enough to compete at the top.

You've missed the point I was alluding too. The landscapes changing, Brighton spend over 10 million on new players, and they already had a team that would've won come second if not for goal difference, the fact is, we needed to spend that 50 million just to have a squad, instead of the wasters of last season.

So for me, 50 million spend wasn't enough to improve us but to keep us standing still.

That's an opinion you're entitled to hold - that any "misbehaviour" by a professional footballer should lead automatically to suspension. Not sure I agree, but  my point was really about whether this was the manager's decision or someone else's within the club.

I think a precedence has to be set throughout the club and discussions would've been held with the manager and the powers that be.

He got punished for the exact same thing last season, nitrous oxide and partying etc, yes he is a young lad, but he is being paid a shed load of money to be a professional, there's plenty of other young lads his age not doing this sh#t or disrespecting the club, once I can understand, but twice in less then a year?! Taking the mickey.

If he wants to party like that, do it during pre-season like all the other 20yr old professional footballers.

The same could be said for a number of our players who's errors led to goals being conceded or players who missed chances.

Certainly could, so these draws could've easily have been wins if not for some individual errors etc.

All fine lines. Like I said I rate Gollini.

Would be interested to know whose decision it was to suspend him for our biggest game so far of the season, where he was clearly missed. Di Matteo always seems very supportive of jack even when he's naughty. If the decision came from elsewhere within the club and wasn't the idea of the manager, I have a bit of a problem with that.

If he has misbehaved then he shouldn't play regardless of if we needed him or not, you can't let that behaviour go unpunished.

I'd still like to think that RDM can see what we need, I'm not 100% confident but you'd imagine that someone with his experience will be able to see we are lacking in midfield. Whether he tried to strengthen there in the summer, I don't know. We bought in Tshibola and Jedinak, they got injured so we haven't seen the best of them yet. Perhaps he thought Gardener and Westwood were better than they are? Im any case, I think we can find the right players in January. Ones that will make a difference. There's a few strands of doubt about whether RDM knows what we need, because our summer signings weren't everything we need. But he didn't have a huge amount of time, and we don't know who exactly he went for outside of those we got.

Could someone go through the Dr's tweets and see if he mentioned about missing out on a midfielder or something, swear that rings a bell, also I don't think they were planning on losing Gueye, so maybe we are actually two midfielders lighter then we planned for? All just assumptions mind.

  11. We spent £50 million which is a lot you could argue, but with the inflation in player prices, is 50 million really enough to buy you top quality players to replace near enough a whole starting 11? It's almost like we needed to spend that and possibly more, just to get back to square one.

Every other team in this division has started the season with a settled squad, the teams from league one are coming up bouyant, Norwich and Newcastle came down but they were still miles ahead of our team last season, guess what I'm saying is, that 50 million was spent on playing catch up and trying to rectify one of the worst squads in premier league history, has it improved us? Yes, will it get us promoted? Possibly not, but the foundations of a better squad have been laid, and for me that's better then anything the last 5 years have served up and I look forward to RDM moulding this team.

4-5 games more of this and we don't get promoted. Simple as that.

Not true, as I've said before, the championship flips on its head so quickly it's insane, could go another 15 games like this and still get promoted.

We're playing far better than last season on the whole. The booing at this stage is **** pathetic. We've lost twice. TWICE!

Yep, agree. Doesn't help anyone and makes the new players regret their decision to join us and makes them want out.

    Haters gon hate.

He bought on subs and changed the game for the better.

...and that was with out the greatly missed McCormack.

Lets get he's preferred lineup on the field and see what happens?

Yeah that's a fair point, I could feel myself losing patience when we went 1-0, but I saw some pro-activity that changed the game so that for me has bought him some time, plus a draw against Newcastle, surely we'd take that.

can't keep blaming Lerner though. Everyone wanted new owners, manager and players. We got all that and we are still just as bad.

True, I blame him for not stopping the rot after the Milner debacle, just seems to have snowballed ever since and I sometimes feel like I'm never going to enjoy football ever again, yet can't stop but keep coming back for more or this torture.
