I don't know, he never knocked on my door.
I'm over in the states at the moment and it is wall to wall coverage. They were saying that he was very religious throughout and right up to the end.

We really do have a bag of dicks playing for us.
Or rather, not playing for us....

Wait, I'm confused. Is this the takeover thread or the takeaway thread?
If Gabby is involved it will be a takeaway.

I thought the flag on with the dragon had the pellet with the poison and the chalice with the palace had the brew that was true. (No THATS an obscure movie reference)

He admitted he failed the club? Fair play if so.
I don't like the guy, but fair play, he has openly admitted this on air a few times that I have heard.

Given our past form, we will probably offer him a signing bonus and a new contract in the summer :-(

I think we should try going without a manager. I don't mean keep Eric Black, I mean literally without a manager. Like how they don't have a government in Spain at the moment. Turn the players into an autonomous collective, see what happens.
I started this comment as a poorly-thought-out joke, but I actually quite like the idea now.
Come on, with no manager, there will be no cohesion in the team, no plan, no tactics, no commitment, the players would run round aimlessly making mistake after mistake. That would just be silly. No team would ever approach a game like that.... ah, hold on.....

I think they will be next seasons QPR, they have players on enormous contract who do not give a shit. They are in a very dangerous position.
Yep, that's us

Me too (on a different forum - I'm new here!) for season after season I have wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt, "maybe this is his season", "he has been played out of position" and "not used to his strengths by manager after manager", and that his development had been stunted by poor management.
I do remember fondly the days of him, Young, Carew tearing defences to pieces, he should have kicked on from there, but he didn't.
I think he got a lot more leeway because he is a local boy, "one of us" - no other player would have been given so many chances by the fans year after year.
But, he has obviously given up, he has become too big for his boots, he obviously doesn't give a shit any more - the Dubai thing was the last straw for me. IF stories about his influence and attitude in the dressing room have any truth to them then it explains a lot - but for me, the complete lack of passion on the pitch, the absolute poor performances, the lack of running (OPTA stats show him as covering less ground per match than any other player) are why he needs to go.
He is club captain, he should have been running his ass off, trying to motivate others and leading by example. He was never a great player, he would never have been "world class" but, he was fast as **** and gave 110% every game, which made him dangerous and his speed alone terrorised defences. Now he still isn't a great player, he is not fast any more, and he now only gives about 10%, most games he stands around the centre circle, hands on hips, huffing and puffing. Now we can argue that he is not fit..... but he is supposed to be a professional athlete (he is neither of those words now) - most other players seem to manage to gain a level of fitness this far into the season, and when they are not fit, they train harder, not slope off to Dubai to party.
Has to go. Goodbye Gabby.

He's a mediocrity. one of a few at our club. Needs to be shifted out.
If he is genuinely mediocre, then sadly that makes him one of our better players. As has been said, there are many others that need to be shifted first.

Nah, they already opened a Gregg's for him.

the bad press of a joke player win it.
To be honest, "a joke player" applies to nearly all of our squad!

I have never seen a thread where a player is singled out for 100% abuse, not even Marlon Harewood!!!! There is literally no one defending him now as there would normally be for most of these types of thread....... and the reason is that he simply does not deserve it.
He has been shit for years and many have defended him in previous seasons, kept giving the benefit of the doubt, but this season, he has shown just how little he cares about the club and how he couldn't give a shit about the fans. I am convinced he is behind so many of our attitude and behind the scenes playing staff issues.
Good riddance, he should never play for this club again. But that said he should not be paid off, or given gardening leave. He should be made to come in and train on his own at night, well away from both the first and U21 teams.
