So based on Transfer Fees alone we've lost £54,750,000?
That is shocking, and seems somewhat unbelievable considering the profit made on Downing, Young, Milner and Barry. I guess all those piss poor signings made for the odd £5m here and £8m there add up, and it's a shame that we have now have to pay for the poor and overly expensive transfers made by MON, Houllier and McLeish. Also shocking that out of all that money spent on transfer fees, the only player of any worth that we have left from it all is Bent.
-
Remember that it's down to whomever deals with our outgoing transfers (I assume Faulkner), and the agents of the players, to find them new clubs. I highly doubt that it goes down a la Football Manager and Lambert is in his office faxing clubs prices to try and flog them.
Lambert has however cut Hutton and Warnock completely from the squad, so it's blatant to see we want rid, put that together with the fact most of our competitors will already know how shit they are, as well as knowing if they take them off our hands we can then replace them.. Well, I just don't understand how we're meant to get rid of them in order to replace them.
-
Hmm very risky, I want Dunne to go but without any replacement it is very very risky.
Leaves us with literally one established center back, and as much as I have faith in him doing well for us he still has no PL experience.
What the **** :!:
-
Dunne won't be going anywhere, and if by anychance he is, we will be getting a replacement in. I don't think Lambert is on a mission to take us down and leave us with 3 specialist center back's, two of which are youngsters.
However, if Lambert has managed to find a buyer for an injured Richard Dunne then the man is an absolute genius.
I was also dubious about him going but was told 2 weeks ago that if they can prove his fitness before the deadline he was likely to leave . :!:
No replacement Herd used as 4th centre back unless that has changed
No replacement?!! £10 on relegation when I go past William Hill later
-
£30k is £29k too much for Hutton but in the scheme of things with him brought in to be 1st choice RB he was
lowest paid of the back 4 and considering Luke Young was on £42k going out it was a significant saving.
Which is now in the process of being brought down to the £10k-£15k that Lowton is probably on as our new first choice RB, and Cresswell will probably be on a similar wage as our new first choice LB if we get him.
So if we say Warnock and Hutton are on a combined £70k, we're probably going to be saving between £40k-£50k a week if we do sign Cresswell and flog those two.
This wage saving stuff is great business for Lerner, but bad business for Aston Villa, we should be trying to bring in top flight quality players not more unproven youngsters that we already have.
-
40k a week is ridiculous for Warnock, what worries me even more is the idea of replacing him with Cresswell. Scraping for these lower league players looks like we're not just lowering the wage bill, we're setting ourselves for a promotion battle next year. Two young full backs with no top flight football experience is a mockery.
-
As much as I'm glad that it looks like Dunne, Warnock and Hutton are all going to be shifted, it just doesn't seem realistic that we're going to replace all three of them as well as making the few signings that we already need. I'm still not taking Lowton as anything but one for the future either, but no doubt it looks as if he has been signed to be our main right back.
God knows why we let Cuellar go.

M'Bia would most definitely give us something new in midfield, trying not to get excited now
-
A comment on there
"I believe it is Stephane M’Bia. The midfielder has come to the UK today to speak to both you and West Ham. The player can play a defensive midfield role and at centre back. Marseille fans don’t understand why he is being let go although it would only be on a loan deal."
-
Express and Star reporting we have turned down a loan move for Huddlestone, alledgedly stating PL is happy with his midfield options.
If Lambert is happy with his midfield 'options' (isn't a great deal to choose from), then I have little faith in him as a manager
-
Adebayor is an extremely good shout
-
Judging by the way Everton are playing right now, we're going to get raped at the weekend if we don't make any signings
-
I don't think Lerner is a prick as such, I just think he needs to realise that due to his own mistakes, we've ended up in a not-so-good financial situation.
He probably regrets not giving MON the backing he wanted which has caused all of this mess in the first place.
If he pulls his finger out and gives Lambert the funds that even McLeish was given, then we may get a relatively decent finish which can be built upon over the next few years.
For this building process to start though, we need to lay foundations, and not go through the "we need to cut the wage bill" saga every damn season.
-
I domt see why he cannot come in a be apart of the starting XI.
Where did Jagielka come from for example? There are plenty of good players from the lower leagues who can step up.
I'm not arguing that he isn't capable of 'coming to be' a part of a starting 11. What I'm saying is right now, he isn't of that calibre, there is a big difference between a player having the potential to be in our starting 11 and simply throwing him in there because we have no **** else.

The sooner people face reality and realise we cannot afford theDempseys Carrolls Defoes or Johnsons of this world, the less tears there will be
The reality is you have no idea what we can or cant afford. Just like the rest of us.
Your right of course, but if we could afford Dani Alves we probably wouldn't have bought Matthew Lowton...
Nobody expects Dani Alves, theres a huge gap between him and Lowton so that arguement is void. What I personally expect is a youngster signed from League One to have been signed as a prospect and not to be part of our starting 11. If you're honestly telling me the best RB we can sign is Lowton, then we may aswell give up now and prepare for a season in the Championship.
-
We need to try and sign Johnson, £10m is a steal with today's prices, come on Randy beat MON to it!
-
Saw Adam Johnson linked to both Sunderland and Tottenham this morning, saddens me that we can't even compete with the likes of Sunderland anymore, in the transfer market or on the pitch.
If we don't sign anybody before the Everton game I'd say we're done in the market until January, and I'd also put us down to lose that game.
-
Indeed it was his debut, but I'm assuming we're a football team trying to do well, we're not a nursery, and therefore I think if we wish to develop him as a player it'd be better bringing him on as a substitute and slowly working him into the Premier League - rather than just throwing him in at the deep end and sympathising with / slating his performances if they aren't up to scratch.
Relying on a kid that has been brought in from League 1 as our first choice right back isn't my idea of moving forward to be honest.
-
Thought he was pretty good today considering he never had that much protection either from N'Zogbia
Can't see him being our first choice RB based on today's performance, personally
-
Think we got sold a Lemon, when we bought Noggy.
I just dont understand why he is incapable of doing This In a Villa shirt
bugger me we have bought enough lemons in recent times to feed a lemonade factory.
That video makes me even more baffled as to how N'Zogbia hasn't actually done anything for us in the entire time we've had him. It's almost as if he's lost all of his talent :|
-
If Ireland actually had players around him that could do a job, he could probably do one of his own, glimpses can be seen of what he can do which is a great deal more than what can be said about Zoggy - KEA is the start of bolstering the midfield but wingers are a must, and I personally can't see Holman and N'Zogbia being up to the task.
I can't quite get how Zoggy has flopped so badly for us, he always impressed at Wigan in my opinion.
-
Vlaar was our best player by far and Clark wasn't too bad either, N'Zogbia tried to hard whenever he got the ball, Bent had no role on the pitch apart from standing around doing **** all, Lowton shouldn't (and I hope hasn't been signed to be) our first choice RB. KEA looked decent, Holman doesn't seem up to scratch, Delph is quick but just seems to run and then not know what else to do with the ball, didn't know Baker was even playing for the majority of the game.
We have the right to moan, our team is shit and if we don't bring anybody else in we're going to be **** if that is how we play against arguably the weakest side to be promoted from the Championship.
Cracking first 10 minutes though like.

Heard from my brother whos a spurs fan, that Kyle Naughton has signed a new 4 year deal.. Hopefully this is just levy trying to bump up the price.. Would Love Naughton here, was fantastic last season at norwich.
Read a story last night about it meaning it puts a stop to a possible permanent move to Villa - would also love Naughton here but another loan a la Walker would piss me off to be honest, probably wouldn't say no though
-
Could he be Villa's answer to Dirk Kuyt? Unheralded, unloved but a grafter with a knack of scoring goals...
Lets hope so, I believe he will be a big success here IMO. like milner, but with more goals!
If Holman can perform at a Kuyt level i'll be more than happy, I still can't believe Liverpool let Kuyt go for £1m

It's assumed that Cresswell joining us means Warnock will join Blackburn - and also probably means we aren't buying Olsson.
