Player recruitment is the one thing that's gone right since the Liverpool FA Cup SF imo.
Paddy Reilly for manager.
-
You just know he'll step up a few gears as the four years runs out and end up with a new contract. Maybe even at Aston Villa if we're that stupid.

This would not surprise me. He played him quite a lot last season when we were struggling.
Does seem a bit desperate, though.
Understatement award of the day. We let him off playing the Zog last season (even though the guy was every single bit as pointless as ever) because Tim had just kept us up. We've now signed twelve players, many of them for a similar fee to what we paid for Zog. Every one of those players has shown himself at least capable of retaining possession, and is therefore an instant upgrade on Charles.
If Tim is really even considering playing Zog ahead of our new signings it's more than "a bit desperate" imo. It would be more like an act of such glaring and monumental stupidity that it ought to disqualify the manager from ever working in football again. There.

N'Zogbia will get picked and spring to life, knowing his contract is running out. He will turn things around for Timmy Two Games and play magnificently until some time in February, when the club reward him and Tim with handsome new contracts. Later that afternoon N'Z suffers another penis injury and is unable ever to lace on a pair of football boots for the rest of his luxurious days. Aston Villa are relegated as the loss of an in-form Zog unmasks the glaring managerial deficiencies.

Is there anyone besides me on this board who thinks that Tim, if given enough time, would probably turn it around? I still don't think that time should extend past November, but even if it did, I suspect he would finally get his tactics straightened out.
Anyone?
I think its personal for poeple if they think he can turn it around, like maybe they feel a little sorry for him. The more I think about it, the more I think its like the McLeish appointment, as in not really thought out. I mean, what were the board thinking bringing a inexperienced manager into one of the hardest managerial jobs in the league. We are now bringing experience in at board level, an then we decide to bring in a manager who has hardly any experience of first team management. How they didn't see through him at that interview I do not know. I have interviewed many a applicant and can see through all the bullshitters almost straight away, Sherwood im afraid, is one of them!
It wasn't as though they were queuing around the block for the chance to relegate Aston Villa. We needed a new manager bounce, and from the pool of no-hopers we picked the mouthiest one. It worked. Now time to find someone a lot better.

Also pretty sure he brought in Almstadt as Director as Football for a reason, and right about now will be far more interested in what Almstadt has to say than Sherwood.
I imagine them at meetings together reading all Tim's latest quotes with their heads in their hands. And hopefully a phone in at least one of them.

I don't think relegation would be a good thing at all, but PM is far from the only one to suggest that it might be okay/what we need.

Burn him Burn him!!!!
What a load of nonsense from everyone. We all have no clue about Tom Fox, what he is or isn't doing.
You only have to look two pages back and he is the messiah!
Pathetic.
plenty on here have always maintaned a healthy skepticism about Fox
He seems perfectly fine to me so far. Let's judge him on who he brings in, and how soon: If Sherwood survives more than two more defeats now, the """" is taking the piss.
-
Just saying again, and I am not supporting him in the slightest, there are no quotes, he hasn't said anything more since the weekend and the article has nothing in the body that corroborates with the headline, it's all assumptions by the author.
now I don't know if it was leaked to the press by Tim, but I always doubt claims like that, and I'm also not arguing that Sherwood doesn't feel that way...
But there is nothing new here to be more annoyed or angry with Sherwood than anyone already was.
Ok. Tbf my link to the Daily Heil article led to a main page offering salacious gossip about, and photographs of, well-known large-breasted and/or rich people.

Yeah but people hate Westwood.
I could have a game in midfield for Villa and some people on here would say I was better than Westwood purely because they don't like him.
I'd say it just because I like you so much <3 <3 <3

Anti Sherwood sentiment is certainly stronger on here than I thought. Most of my mates still have faith in him.
But Im worried after his recent comments.
No kidding.
I've taken slight liberties with the paraphrasing, but...
"We don't have any creative players unfortunately, just this worthless shower of cloggers that poor old me has to try and manage".
"These aren't actually the players I was really wanting to sign three months ago, but I guess I'm stuck with them and will take full responsibility 'cause that's the kind of guy I am".

I have to say I'm at the point now where I dont give a **** what we do. Obviously I do give a **** but I'm indifferent to our future. We sack Sherwood then appoint someone else? Will anything change? Has anything changed with the last 4-5 appointments? We've been wading through shit for 5 seasons and look like its going to be no different this season. Different managers/players and no change. I really dont think I would care THAT much if we got relegated, honestly. What does it stop us from doing? Being beaten every week and finishing 16th? I am supposed to long for being one of the worst teams in the top flight? It makes no sense. Genuinely the only thing we have to look forward to is a Cup run which we do about every 5 years. We then had a chance to win a first major trophy for 20 years and not only lost but basically didnt even turn up. The worst way to lose. League form? Shambolic and when we actually do win it's usually scrappy nonsense and lucky. Memorable victories like Man City two years ago or Liverpool last season come at best 1-2 times a season.
The point I am making is what are we going to miss? Relegation takes what away? Its already depressing and shambolic to support Villa and has been for years. People will say "through thick and thin" or other cliches but I watch Villa because it gives me pleasure when we win or play well, neither of which do we do anymore. I dread our games every weekend, the international break is welcome relief tbh.
But I'm sure we will all get excited again when a new manager comes in and we think he will get the best from our group of players and will push us up to the lofty heights of 12th. More than likely though we will continue to be mediocre and be calling for his head in 6 months.
One final thing, people are saying we signed good players last summer. Did we? I havent been impressed with many of them at all.
Gana - Looks average, loses the ball and is out of position constantly.
Amavi - Seems to have stopped taking players on rendering him neutered attacking and is out of position all the time defending.
Ayew - Awful in every game except against the Blues which means nothing to me, they looked like a pub team.
Gestede - Will score when given a good cross, he's awful at everything else.
Veretout - A slightly more comfortable on the ball version of Westwood. Doesnt offer much defensively and doesnt seem to create anything.
Lescott - Utter shit
Where's the good players?
There aren't any, theyr're all crap, we're screwed and the Venutians have just invaded. Save yourselves.

Short for Tactics Jeremy

Looks like Klopp to Liverpool ( i know we were never in for him) Big Sam looks like going to Sunderland. Teams struggling... acting swiftly to replace their manager.
We should be doing the same. We cant leave it any later...if Villa and Newcastle dont get rid of their managers soon it could be the end of both. Two massive clubs to go down in one season would be crazy.
This is where I am , its so infuriating to see other clubs taking action - whilst our 'fantastic Mr Fox' doesn't have a clue what to do.......
We don't know this at all. For all we know he's very much on the case. The TT team's body language makes me think he might be.

I wouldn't put much stock in what Woodward coaxes out of a player on AVTV.

“People don’t understand,” Liverpool’s new centre-forward says when asked about Sherwood’s part in his revival. “That was a bit frustrating. It was like I had never been injured. He came in at a good time, at a time when I was getting fit and getting better, so it was a good time for both of us.“The right time for him and for me. OK, he helped me a lot but I had been injured for a long time and I was getting back to what I could do. It was just a question of time. With Paul Lambert it was hard because I had just come back and had to help the team. We were struggling. When Tim came I was feeling better than before.”

Returned from injury and returning to fitness are two separate things. He was way off the pace. Maybe you should look up Benteke's goal record under Lambert??
This Sherwood bought the best out of Beteke like he did Adebayor was a myth based on lazy journalism. Stay away from tabloids and learn the game.
Patronising, but true

Sherwood's right, the team needs a spark.... perhaps the coaching staff can provide one....
Perhaps not.
He doesnt look like he wants to be there.
narrow it down , which one are you talking about?
Well, for me Wilkins is in the clear here, having taken the time to tilt his head fractionally to the right and wear an expression that suggests he's considering the idea of raising one eyebrow slightly.

Well ISIS wanted to go back to the dark ages.
"An admittedly short journey" as per Awol on the previous page

My theory about Carles Gil is that he and the management team hate each other, and Gil is just biting his tongue and biding his time until they go, which he knows they will.
Gil was flying when TT arrived, and my guess is he was a bit too cocky in training, which got TT's back up and made him determined not to see the obvious fact that he's an excellent and vital player for us.

Trial-and-error is a perfectly good way to work out which is your best team.
As long as you play against exactly the same side every time.

The good news is that he won't last longer than the manager.

It is too early for total doom and gloom but I've just got a bad feeling about how this is all panning out
Kinda ironic sig you have there VC. Also this sentence is a bit self-contradictory. You're a riddle wrapped in an enigma today :)
-
Sadly I think this is the season - Its been coming for too long
Come now. If our squad was as bad as that there'd be no point getting rid of Sherwood. IMO it isn't and there is.
They'll give him two more games max, but they'll be looking for someone else already. Pleez jeezez.

Gun violence in the USA

The biggest hole I can see in the argument is that everyone has to eat, but not everyone has to kill somebody.
Ban guns and you're taking away the ability to kill. Ban forks and you're just being a bit of a tosser, really
