Are they looking good?  I can't think of anything they've created.

Thought the same. We’re letting them have it. Resting off the ball. I’d like to see more threat, but we’re keeping the defensive shape most of the time

How is he so good at this? Is he just really really intelligent, like ultra genius level, or simply really really dedicated?

I’d love to see a day in the life of Unai. Ultimately, I think he lives and breathes the game, but then he has a way to distil all of that knowledge down in a way that the players can understand and act upon.

He is like a v effective teacher: having all of that knowledge is one thing, but being able to communicate it in little practical changes here and there is next level. I don’t just think he’s a good football coach, I think he’s a remarkably intelligent man. I guess Arsene Wenger was like this too.

I am sorry to bring him up, but the comparison with Stevie G (and many other former players in management) is instructive. He just cannot begin to appreciate how Unai sees the game; let alone communicate this to the players.

  3. Crowd need to stay on side today: these boys are going to be tired af - probably more mentally than physically - and we need to lift them. I trust the boys to do the job: they’re showing massive character this season and more and more of them are stepping up when needed.

  4. Makes the penalty area his own in shootouts. Controls the ball, the space, the crowd…he controlled the referee for crying out loud.

The man is a maestro in these situations

  5. He is getting a fair bit of quiet praise in the media atm, but you’d hardly know that he’s second only to Haaland this season. Can’t help but compare this to the flash in the pan when Nketiah was scoring for Arsenal: next big thing, blah blah.

Maybe Ollie thrives off this sort of thing?

With a bit of hard work, guy could be living the dream in the Prem, really got no time for him. His story he came out with to gain some support (as no one supports him for his football anymore) had no sympathy from me at all. We all have hardships chap, just many of us don't have the chance to set our families up for generations to come, boo hoo.

Sky on frickin suicide watch or something. The anount of wasters been commentating on games lately is nonsence.

Watching him is like watching a child. Has no emotional resilience. Lacks confidence in himself. He's psychologically ruined.

Skysports shouldn't be giving him this platform: they might think they're helping him but it's counter productive. It's like watching a car crash in slow motion.

One of my favourite moments of the season, this. Shows how people who know the game don't get swept away in reactive stuff like scorelines, and focus on fundamentals. Worth remembering, and trying to 'be more like Alex'.

I wish they would have asked him what he saw to be able to come to that conclusion. Instead, they nod their heads in a sort of reverent way, but there's also a bit of 'this guy has lost it, he's nuts' condescension there, too.

Modern media: get the soundbite. F*ck the learning.

  8. Worried about this one: If we are as weak in the middle as we were against Lille, then I don’t fancy us. I guess Arsenal will be up for it.

However, in the back of my mind I have this thought that there are signs that a couple of big players are playing themselves into form again: McGinn and Watkins in particular, but it’s clear that Emi is a f**king colossus atm. Just need Doig or Youri to step up and the midfield will be far stronger.
