  1. I’d love to see a day in the life of Unai. Ultimately, I think he lives and breathes the game, but then he has a way to distil all of that knowledge down in a way that the players can understand and act upon. He is like a v effective teacher: having all of that knowledge is one thing, but being able to communicate it in little practical changes here and there is next level. I don’t just think he’s a good football coach, I think he’s a remarkably intelligent man. I guess Arsene Wenger was like this too. I am sorry to bring him up, but the comparison with Stevie G (and many other former players in management) is instructive. He just cannot begin to appreciate how Unai sees the game; let alone communicate this to the players.
  2. Crowd need to stay on side today: these boys are going to be tired af - probably more mentally than physically - and we need to lift them. I trust the boys to do the job: they’re showing massive character this season and more and more of them are stepping up when needed.
  3. Makes the penalty area his own in shootouts. Controls the ball, the space, the crowd…he controlled the referee for crying out loud. The man is a maestro in these situations
  4. He is getting a fair bit of quiet praise in the media atm, but you’d hardly know that he’s second only to Haaland this season. Can’t help but compare this to the flash in the pan when Nketiah was scoring for Arsenal: next big thing, blah blah. Maybe Ollie thrives off this sort of thing?
  5. Watching him is like watching a child. Has no emotional resilience. Lacks confidence in himself. He's psychologically ruined. Skysports shouldn't be giving him this platform: they might think they're helping him but it's counter productive. It's like watching a car crash in slow motion.
  6. I wish they would have asked him what he saw to be able to come to that conclusion. Instead, they nod their heads in a sort of reverent way, but there's also a bit of 'this guy has lost it, he's nuts' condescension there, too. Modern media: get the soundbite. F*ck the learning.
  7. Fantastic. How can this not give these players a massive lift for the remaining matches? This was special but we might have just reignited a few players
  8. It really is. Unai is playing 5D chess while Arteta is at home having a sad w*nk
  9. It’s a tactical masterclass. Everyone has done their job perfectly,
  10. They won’t score if they had 80min extra. Goodbye, Gunners
  11. Worried about this one: If we are as weak in the middle as we were against Lille, then I don’t fancy us. I guess Arsenal will be up for it. However, in the back of my mind I have this thought that there are signs that a couple of big players are playing themselves into form again: McGinn and Watkins in particular, but it’s clear that Emi is a f**king colossus atm. Just need Doig or Youri to step up and the midfield will be far stronger.
  12. I love how he’s embracing being a leader. I don’t think it came naturally to him, but Emery seems to be showing him how he can exert influence. A stunningly good player. I love that he was with us in the championship and all of our time back in the PL. He is symbolic of everything we’ve done to get here. And fwiw, he’s improved immensely and developed professionally since Jack left.
  13. Agreed. Looked sharp on the ball, surprisingly strong and made things happen. Bit like Buendia? He’s the sort of player that you could see going to a slightly unfashionable PL club and ripping it up.
  14. I thought he looked clumsy when he came on, but that might be his manner. Tbf, though, none of the subs had much of an impact beyond having fresher legs yesterday so I don’t think one can pass comment on Zaniolo. I think, at that stage in the game, it was a matter of us staying in our shape. At one point leading up to their corner, he got into a bit of a pickle and lost his man on the left. Other than that, I think he did the job that was expected of him.
  15. Would’ve taken that result before kickoff. Fact is they are orders of magnitude the best team we’ve played in the competition. Considering the injuries and the fact that we’ve taped together a team, we showed flickers of some v good football. Defensive shape and concentration has gone to sh*t, but Emi bailed them out. Fantastic fantastic player. Their fans were in v good voice all night, too: they’ll make it a difficult atmosphere at their place.
  16. Think some of the talk of players being ‘petrified’ is more a reflection of the poster.
  17. I’ve not seen either of their partners but I’m sure they’re not that overweight..,
