  1. Juve is such a good brand, but they don't have the money for the transfer fee. Look at their last three years:

    2021/2: €141m spent / €64m from sales

    2022/3: €122m spent / €111m from sales

    2023/4: €95m spent / €60m from sales

Even with only 18 months left on his contract, you have to expect Dougie to cost over €50m. Don't think Juve have that sort of money for one player this season. Is this why McKennie has been linked in p/x?

New club shop mate - Bigger than bullring mate - 60,000 down stans for the opening mate.

Two problems: there are two doors there: how are their fans going to know which door is the entrance and which is the exit? Second, I like the way they've used a joined up typeface to write 'Blues Store' (really classes it up): I'm just not sure their fans will be able to read it.

'Who's Blaes Stoze, mate? That the woman our Terry married?'

  3. If I was any team looking to buy Luiz, I’d be looking to buy Kamara at the same time. The two are a unit: the one is weakened when the other isn’t there

Seems like this will happen fast

Sorry, probably one for other football, but how can Chelsea afford this?

On the one hand, there’s all this talk of having to sell someone like Gallagher to balance their books, but on the other, they’re about to splurge yet more cash after spending masses of it since their new owner took charge.

Meanwhile, Villa have qualified for the conference league last season and the CL this season and we’re talking about the need to sell players to stay ahead of FFP rules.

I’m not being all woe is Villa here, I genuinely don’t understand how this works. It surely isn’t sustainable to have a system that a) teams can just game by selling homegrown players so they can pay for new recruits spread over long contracts and b) fans have no idea how it works and resent the whole thing as a consequence.

While I like the idea of weakening a rival in getting Gallagher, something doesn’t smell right here.

  5. Thanks for the service. Did the job covering Ty.

Disappointed by him many, many times this season. Showed some signs of class but surprised that he wasn’t better and more consistent considering his pedigree.

  6. So pleased for the bloke. There was a moment when he burst onto the scene in the championship when he was being linked to United etc.

But after all of the ups and downs, you have to admit: when he struck the ball, this is the face of a man who doesn't score many goals...

  7. 20 appearances and three goals in the league for Citeh in 23/4. That's the least appearances he's made in a senior team since the season we were relegated and he fell out with Garde. 16 games in other competitions in 23/4 for Citeh, no goals.

He can jump about on that bus, be the party starter and collect all of those medals, but deep down Jack wants to play football and entertain on the pitch.

The world has already lost three seasons of the most scintillating English player of his generation. As others have said, he needs to get the chance to express himself on the pitch again.

  8. At some point, they'll make a managerial appointment that clicks. Unfortunately for them, they make so many other changes at the same time due to their halfwit owners, that no manager will have sufficient time or confidence to get anything done.

  9. Like opposition managers and Unai's tactics, I just can't fathom Unai's jumper that has the zip on the top and the bottom.

  10. I’ve a soft spot for Duran, but he hasn’t showed that he can play in a system. Unai’s comments about him are usually about his ability to play within the team’s structure.

Him being a maverick is sometimes useful. The unpredictability that makes him difficult to manage, is doubly dangerous for the opposition: if his teammates don’t know what he’s doing then the opposition won’t. However, most of the time, it was the system and not individual brilliance that worked so well for us last season. And while Jhon has improved in his tracking back and fitting into the shape of the team, he hasn’t showed the discipline to lead the line.

He has such natural ability and I hope he can develop into that sort of player that will work in our very structured approach. Unfortunately, I think his unpredictability will be his downfall at Villa and lead to him leaving.

Funnily enough, I think Archer will have a similar problem.  Too much of a poacher, not enough of a thinker.

this is the single best post I have ever seen on VT. So fantastically obscure, so on topic: perfect. How do I give you all of my likes in one go? End VT: we have a winner

  13. Thought I’d put a link to the story on here because it’s quite difficult to scroll so far down the list of leagues and teams on the Skysports website to find them 😇

More seriously, from the little I know, I always thought Mowbray seemed like a decent man so I hope he makes a speedy recovery.

  14. Well this is fun. Don't know anything about football outside of Villa but I like that his name is Ronald. That is all I have to add.

Might have to watch a YT video of him and read about his 'reduce xG of the other team' rate and return as an expert.

How to know something is a gathering of Brazilian people without being told it's a gathering of Brazilian people: wait less than ten seconds and a guy starts doing the most insane capoeira.

Is this just a daily occurrence in Rio?

'I'm sorry young man, could you pass me some bran flakes from the top shelf there?'

*man does backflip and begins dancing*

  16. Not another loan. Please.

Nice that he's willing to 'reduce his demands' for a loan, when we'd be offsetting the difference anyway. He seems like an honourable person, just agree to rip up the contract and go back to Brazil.
