  1. Whilst I understand the importance of pensions, if you have a mortgage right now and Base Rate is 0.5% wouldn't you be better lamping the mortgage first? It won't be at those levels forever, and if your company pension currently isn't that favourable I think you might be better off getting rid of the big bill first?

Thunderbird with some configs and addons should do the trick. http://bernaerts.dyndns.org/linux/215-thunderbird-sync-gmail

I think MacOS does it out of the box.

Mozilla, as well as thunderbird e mail does a calendar application which is available to download from this link and Mac OS does it out of the box, but that's no use if  Mr. Riddims got those "ain't got no Mac OS" blues.

Mozilla gave always had my support so I'll give that a blast I think, cheers all you're a lovely bunch of techys x

  3. Sorry, didn't explain very well. The way I use my laptop I'm not always connected to the net, I do a lot of college work here and there that involves sending emails, setting meetings etc that I'd like to be able to do without being on the net and then connect when I'm online again. Unfortunately I don't get wifi at work so outlook can be a little fickle. I'd like to have the app there I can use offline and let it sync when and as it needs to. Either that or I'm gonna be rinsing my mobile data by hotspotting for the 4G

    Erm, Gmail?

    Isn't Gmail only browser based?

Employers don't do nearly enough to help this stress among employees, I hear a lot about so called 'flexible' working but that flexibility really only extends to when the employer wants to screw over their staff. Working from home should be much more common for a lot of jobs out there.

I was commuting 2 and half hours a day and took an near £5k wage drop this year to work 5 mins from my house. I dont have the disposable income I had but I am much happier not having to spend 10-15 hours of my week just getting to work let alone being there. I am also happy to do over time now as an hour here an there paid is fine.

When I was a manager I always like to think I was flexible, little things like allowing staff to leave early or authorising holiday at late notice can make a big difference to a staff member rather than sticking to the rules for the sake of it. Have to be careful with the boundaries but employers who take a lot and give little back find themselves with work forces who dont last very long.

Never in my life would I do a long commute again. I'm 12 minutes drive from my current job and I work Flexi time, previously I worked an hour away and had to work 8.30 to 17.00 and sit in traffic all the way home. I earn less, slightly, but never been happier in a job. People need to realise how much difference it makes, your whole life is so much better for it. I was spending approx 40 hours a month travelling, now it's about 10 hours, that over a day month extra I get back in spare time. If someone offered you a job closer to home with 12 extra days holiday a year would you take it? Course you would

Bands like GDC do so well, considering they get so little air play, certainly mainstream.

Both GDC and The Skints have done a couple of good show/podcast thingys on soundcloud recently.

Shall check this out too, ta x

  8. Yep, Dave was a solid first place there.

I'm two singles and a CD (ft Charlie P, you see me) into them now.   Check out the shop on their website - you'll go broke!
