  1. You seem to be lumping anyone who isn't over the moon right now as these type of fans.

I'd love to know how you determine which posters on here only turned up once Lerner came.

What are you talking about? Over the moon? I don't think anyone is over the moon. There are however clearly groups of people who can see the bigger picture and are prepared to give a manager time and those who still can't get over the fact that the days of finishing 6th in the league are gone for the time being and want it back right now at any cost.

And no, you are right, obviously I can't determine which posters turned up once Lerner came in but what I can do is apply what I have seen in the real world to an online forum. The same people I know who only showed an interest in Villa at that time are the same ones who can't grasp the current situation.

  2. Amazing isn't it? A team that's just about hovering above the trap door who have scored just 12 league goals in 15 games, playing god awful football, and even after selling all our best players and replacing them with cheap players from the lower leagues and abroad fans still aren't happy.

So whilst im talking about the progress we have made over the past 2 weeks or so you are talking about the past 3 years. Good one, was that all Lambert's fault as well? Or are you now aiming your displeasure at Lerner?

  3. What a load of rubbish.

Before Lerner came did we spend most seasons battling relegation?

Im talking specifically about people who only started going down Villa Park and "supporting" the team when the new money arrived. What have the years prior to that got to do with those people?

  4. I stated in the match reaction thread that we were unbeaten in three although its the level of performance people are concerned about. With the exception of the Man U and Newcastle games our general performance level has been poor!

Ok, Who could get the current squad playing better then? And what others players do you actually know were available and interested in coming to Villa that would have improved our current situation?

As far as I'm concerned Lambert is doing things the right way and its refreshing to see. We are going to have ups and downs, probably more downs this season to be fair but changing a mentality of a whole club is not an easy thing to do and is going to take time.

  5. Will state this again.

No-one expected us to be in the top six. NO-ONE!

Pretty sure he was referring to the "top 6 days" as a period in time as opposed to peoples expectations for the current squad.

  6. Agreed. The top 6 days are gone for now, people need to let it go. We have to start again which is never easy, I think so far we are progressing well, played some lovely stuff in the first half yesterday and could have put the game to bed, just lacking the cutting edge at times. Lambert is trying to instill a winning mentality into the team and it takes time.

Definitely, I find it worrying that even though we have just played 3 games in a week and taken 5 points, remained unbeaten and not lost to two teams around us, some people still can't see the progress we are making.

  7. how long we have had to wait? What about other teams like Preston or Sheffield Wednesday or Carlisle for example. We have no god given right, we may not have success again in either of our lifetimes or ever again.

For this season I expected us to be in or around the bottom half and when you have a team in or around the bottom half you spend some of the season in a relegation fight, that is what you get.

Unfortunately we have had a team , prior to the last three years, who didn't battle at he wrong half of the table and so it is not something our fans are used to

That last sentence kind of sums up where I think a lot of the hysteria is coming from. I'm adamant that a large proportion of people who are finding it difficult to cope with the current transition of the squad and new found ethos only started going down Villa Park when Lerner and MON came in and are therefore unable to accept our current situation and see the bigger picture.

The Match thread yesterday was a bit of a joke at times.

  8. The comparisons to Mcleish in yesterdays game are total bollocks. The substitutions were bang on, and Lambert was furious on the touch line that the players didn't attack when they had possession in the second half. He was screaming at them, anyone who thinks he went there to draw are talking shite.

You crazy fool! You can't speak that sort of sense on here.

  9. 3 games in a week and we remain unbeaten. Yes we might not be playing great but we are getting there. I'm assuming a lot of you are calling the subs negative because he didn't bring on Ireland and Bent?

Bent would have provided less than the players already on the pitch and I'm not entirely sure what Ireland would have offered either.

  10. Bony and Benteke are very similar players, albeit Bony is more the finished article. Can't see us moving for him in Jan.

I'd like us to go after Mertens/Tadic/lens or Chadli if we're going to raid the dutch league.

Bony and Benteke are similar how?

  11. They were messing around with the ball at the back, Ireland robbed it well, had a shot/cross blocked, chased it down in the corner, laid it back to bannan, he swung a deep one, wast cleared, came back across goal, ireland hit a volley into ground from edge of box and bent tapped it in at back post

That's a better description than anything that Gobby Cabbage has ever come out with. Get on the blower to the BBC my friend.

  12. Loved when he looked down on Dyer. Epic. "THIS IS MY HOUSE!"

personally - taking all villa bias out of it - i thought it made him look a right knob..... he wouldnt have dont that to Duncan Ferguson

I bet he would, you know.

    I dont think he would............

What you yapping about? Made him look like a knob? Dyer had just gone over very, very easily. What do you want him to do? Just ignore it.

  13. Will be really interesting to see where Richard Dunne fits into the team when he returns from injury. Vlaar for me is a far more acomplished defender and I can't imagine Dunne wanting to take instructions from him in the same way the younger lads are at the moment.
