  1. talk about gabby and not being able to play the lone striker puzzles me, does every1 forget when carew was injured and gabby played the lone striker for 6 games?

Guess what we won all 6, so he must do something right for the team cos now thats 7 times he has been lone striker and we have won them all

Was actually a spell of 11 games and I believe we won 8, drew 3. (or at very worst, won 7, drew 4)

Also then used for 4 games during the 09-10 season and we won all 4. :)

so works out in 17 games he has played the lone striker we won 12-13 drew 3-4 lost none ?

So whatever he does has a lone striker must seem to work for us cos that is some record. AM allso not saying i prefer him to bent as the lone striker either but is some record and am not worried he cant carry the line on his own

  3. Happy days, now we just have to see out the game. What does McLeish do, he brings off Petrovs legs (Gardener) and brings on Bannan who is not known for his physical presence and defensive ability. It was asking for trouble and we subsequently got it for the last 9-10 minutes as we were under the cosh.

so you didnt see Gardner go down with cramp then ?

  4. lovely finish. when i was watching i couldnt believe he tried to shoot so early as he had space to run into, but then obviously the ball rolled beautifully into the bottom corner!

looks like a player who when he don`t have to think he scores great goals, when he has to think like the one on one at chelsea he aint so good, he needs to work on that

  5. Guzan, looked solid, saved a pen maybe shouldn`t have been running out on the dunne backpass 6

Warnock, some silly misstakes but he never hides away so i give him credit for that 5

Dunne, had a good game until mistake 6

Hutton, thought he had a good game defensively and attacking 7

Petrov, solid, dependable, kept the ball and great pass for first goal 7

Clark, done the easy things well when in midfield, Great solo goal 8

Ireland, he has a great engine that i didnt know he had, he was box to box nipping in for some good nicks, and when he nicks it it aint aimless it is towards one of our players 7

Albrighton, Good finish for his goal shoulda done better with volly chance, seemed to hide a bit second half 7

Heskey, I don`t blame him for a poor display really, he seems to be the scapegoat playing in possistions wherever mcleash thinks, Mcleash seems to think Heskey is better than he really is (if you get what i meen) 5

Bent, not much service but would like to see more movement from him too 5

Agbonglaor, came on and made a difference second half, they where frightened of him and rightly so, great goal 7

Gardner, got 15 mins and allmost produced a goal 6

Bannan, got 10 mins and didnt get much of the ball 5

  6. Not being funny here all, but all I have read is 7 pages of "crap line up" "McLeish has no guts" and on and on.

From what I can see, apart from Heskey (given the fact Cueller and Given are injured) that is out first choice side, and basically the side that has played the last 4 or 5 games.

    So what is it.

Houllier plays weakened teams and it is "He has disrespected us all"

McLeish plays his strongest line up and it is "It is crap, he has no imagination, why didn't he try Enda Stevens !"

Make your minds up for god sake !!!

was thinking along same lines, to me it shows we are taking this game and the fa cup serious.

as much as i dislike Mcleash he is in a lose lose with team selection. play strong team and we see wft is he doing ?

play a weakened team with kids etc it woulda been wtf why aint we taking this serious

  7. Really think we need to have an english anther as our song, after all we have produced more England internationals than any other team

Jerusalem is about has English as it gets

And did those feet in ancient time.

    Walk upon England's mountains green:

And was the holy Lamb of God,

    On England's pleasant pastures seen!

    And did the Countenance Divine,

Shine forth upon our clouded hills?

    And was Jerusalem builded here,

    Among these dark Satanic Mills?

    Bring me my Bow of burning gold;

Bring me my Arrows of desire:

Bring me my Spear: O clouds unfold!

Bring me my Chariot of fire!

I will not cease from Mental Fight,

Nor shall my Sword sleep in my hand:

    Till we have built Jerusalem,

In England's green & pleasant Land

edit:i am drunk though btw and feeling patriotic having a quiet new year :0

  8. from bbc site

    Aston Villa 0-1 Arsenal

David Ornstein's HT snapshot: "An opening 45 minutes completely dominated by Villa ends with Arsenal taking a lead into the break. It's a funny old game. Plenty of chances for the hosts but this is why they've failed to score in four of their past five games. No cutting edge. Unlike Arsenal and that man Robin van Persie."
