  1. VAR will never change the fans reaction.

All the decisions were spot on correct(after a bit of deliberation-im sure refs will get quicker)

Yet Baggies fans think the win was gained in spite of the technology, which clearly allows the ref to make a correct decision. They think it helped the ref get things wrong even though the cameras show otherwise! How can referees win?

Bottom line when decisions go against their team supporters can’t see the wood for the trees

I think Fergie was talking out his arse. If you've rinsed the league ala wolves or man City this year you've got it won in April

    Point taken.

I guess he was trying to prove that until the points are in the bag nothing is certain. Most teams do not get into a position where the league is mathematically won until May.

Lets face it Man City and Wolves are way ahead, but you cant rule out and unlikely loss of form until they cant be caught.

For me id love to be in Wolves position but we haven't been good enough to keep up with them..................so far ;)

    Very interesting point

Will definitely be a new dynamic for them to deal with

You almost feel like it might be better to slip in over the last 1-3 games but not sure my nerves could take it!

This is in my opinion  the best way to get promoted.

If we hit form at just the right time and take one of the two automatic places without having the pressure of holding them....

Fergie used to say that you can’t win the league in April and prepared his teams to peak at the right time....maybe Steve Bruce learnt from the master?

Wouldnt say we're a mess right now.

Obviously 5 defeats in a row looks bad, but there's perspective behind each one.

Wolves, shocking decision making cost us, narrow defeat to the best team in the league.

Villa, injuries and number of games takes its toll, mixed with a good Villa performance (at this point we had something like 7 players who played more minutes than anyone in Europe in December, and no options to rotate them)

Watford, u23 side with 3 senior players beaten by a strong Premier League side.

Man City, away at one of the best teams in Europe.

Norwich, the first one to have any real concern over.

What it vital is that the run doesn't go on past Derby/QPR.

Home game against Man City will likely be a defeat too, but fully expected.

Whenever I have seen Bristol play this year they have impressed me.

The first 15 mins at Villa Park they looked up for it too. They are a young fit vibrant side.

What I would say is they seemed to lose there heads a little when it was clear that they couldn’t get anything out of the game.

I think maybe they don’t have enough experience to see the full season out at previous high levels of performance?

  5. Very solid performance again.

I have faith in Steve Bruce to get us into the a position where we can challenge for  automatic promotion right at the death. The squad is built to allow us to be consistent even when we have our two main players in one position (DMC) injured another comes off the bench and performs well.He has to get credit for this!

I fully understand those of you that don’t like his style of play, interesting to see tonight that Forest were more composed on the ball and kept it away from us at will. Not pretty to watch as a Villa fan,but they were really no threat to us!

I think it is this (the fact that we don’t LOOK like a good team) that creates the anti Bruce sentiment.

But the longer the season goes on the more solid we are.....UTV

I imagine he spins his situation so that friends in the media and fans will share this type of opinion.

No,I haven’t decided that from what Steve has said.Without knowing what the actual financial situation regarding FFP if I’m being honest, I have come to this conclusion myself and understand if others don’t see it that way.

I think it’s a fair reflection on his situation.

    Hmmm...

I'd like to see a bit more faith put in our own  youngsters to be honest.

    Tried and tested  Bruce method.

take a top clubs youngster to help get out of the Championship.

    Has worked for him before....

I think Bruce continues to try and portray himself as someone who is working order hard conditions and restrictions.

He IS working under hard conditions. This Aston Villa it is unlike any other club in the division the expectation levels are through the roof and nothing but promotion is acceptable. Also he is restricted as he can’t pay a transfer fee for players that he wants to sign.

Being honest I think he's a slightly over rated player, he's only real quality he brings is he's delivery & he's got a good shot, still as a loan I think he's an ok addition. I've never been convinced of all the hype around him tbh.

Happy to accept a good delivery and a good shot to be fair....

Its been missing from most of our signings since as long as I care to remember :)

  10. This guy can play.

He is not brilliant of course and West Ham have a lot of good players who they can use instead of him.

Villa on the other hand have few better than him.

    so on that basis Robert....

    you're  hired!

The sad thing is while we are down here they can say that and get away with it.

Did any of us pay attention to them whilst they were in the lower divisions?

That Tony Pulis quote about us kicking off a week earlier sums them up as a club.

Happy as long as they are higher in the league than Villa.

Im sure the chant our name as often as they chant their own.

    Obsessed

  12. Had a discussion with a Baggies fans on Saturday night...

Most upset that I wouldn't accept we are now a smaller club than them.

They have a better team for sure! But as we know only too well good teams come and go.....

He wasn't happy that we remember 1982 fondly either, apparently it is to long ago to talk about :D e

We certainly didn't play well all over the pitch as it could easily of went 3-3 only for bad finishing by Norwich, fact is we let them back into the game when we should of controlled the game better at 2-0 and again at 3-1. Time will tell if Bruce has all of a sudden turned things around.

Until this happens we cant say that Bruce has achieved what he needs to get us at the top end of the table.

Good teams can control the game even when they aren't on the front foot. We on the other hand look on the verge of collapse if the other side has the momentum.

  14. I hope for our sake that he does pull it round. For the record I thought he was the right choice I would have bought him in ahead of Di Matteo

But I see no evidence of it on the pitch. I am at a point now where I don't even know how good our players even are.....

Maybe Hourihane is good and we have not been allowed to see it?

Im at the point where I want him to go just because id like to see players like Lansbury and Hourihane under a different regime. To see if my original idea (that they were both good purchases!) is correct!

  15. I think our fans have every right to be frustrated that we show no fight.

I think our fans have every right to be nervous when we take the lead as we will probably lose it.

I think our fans have the right to vent these worries/frustrations.

Aston Villa are not a club to be proud of at the moment this is 100% down to the professionals who have been very well paid to get the results that keep the supporters happy.

They are not doing that, to blame the people that pay for the privilege of watching Villa is wrong in my opinion.

  16. To be fair to Hull in the second half I think their midfield was far more fluent than ours.

The passing was neat and tidy and to each other....

Whilst our players were at pains to get a simple triangle going at times!

Henri was one of the better ones when it came to effort and closing down but passes seem to go astray regularly, why?  because he can pick a pass and execute it too we have all seen this.

Also saw Glen Whelan misplace a number of passes too...

I would suggest that Lansbury and Whelan were passing to where players were SUPPOSED to be and those players let them down by not being there.

  17. I've had this conversation....

Its getting a bit wearing now watching the same type of performance from Villa.I think that we should be in a position to control games,I also think we have the players to do this.Maybe we were let down by poor finishing yesterday but certainly the slow rise of Hull from Under the cosh to unlucky not to be in front was nothing new and in my opinion avoidable.

Just because I don't like watching this style of play does not mean I want Bruce sacked (as was suggested to me yesterday on our now frequent after match moans on the way back to the car) I think he will get us promoted but it is painful to watch and unconvincing hence the atmosphere in the stadium

  18. I look at squad and think that's strong we can do this, but it's difficult to have faith after the abject failures of the last 5/6 years.

This also has an affect in the media I've just listened to a Talk Sport conversation with Tony Cascarino saying "I don't fancy my old club Villa this year" went on to say he wasn't sure about John Terry and that he thinks we have more "work" to do....

I am hopeful of at least top six though UTV

All thats missing is few goals !  But hey he's a 'Great Striker'

45 goals in 75 games says that he know where the net is!

    http://www.soccerbase.com/players/player.sd?player_id=52994

21 goals in 27 games for Brentford last year says that he can do it in the championship!

We are missing something here......not all strikers are like Kodjia and capable of existing on little or no service.

Its a big season for Scott he's got a lot to prove.
