I don't know much about this guy but i know more about the basketball team he owns.
Milwaukee Bucks are a very well run franchise and they have a clear and different strategy.
They have recruited players young unknown players from outside America and they tend to use a lot of young players in their roaster.
I.e Giannis Antetokounmpo who is one of the best players in NBA right now
Thon Maker a Sudanese Australian player who is only 21 who has top potential.
It would not surprise me that as a sport fan, Edens would have a preference for low price unknown young players and a manager that is capable of bringing the best of them.
If Bruce does leave , Edens would more than likely would have influenced this.
Might explain Bruce not giving any interviews after the game. He has probably been told he needs to play more youth players and captain mainwaring has got the hump

Maybe I'm being naive but haven't we virtually covered FFP?
10m from loan and contract departures (snoddy, Terry etc)
3m adama sale
2m talk talk deal
At least 5m from player sales that Tony advanced
7m potential ground and training sponsorship
That's 27m and there are still other partnerships and sponsorships that would go a long way to meeting ffp.

I remember when Pochittino replaced Nigel Adkins at Southampton. Everyone said it was outrageous as Adkins had got saints promoted and Poch was inexperienced and achieved nothing. Fast forward a few years and Poch is managing Tottenham in the champions league and Adkins is managing a mid table championship side. I can see some parellels with our situation and can see Bruce and Henry following a similar trajectory.

Do we know the annual loss for the year that is dropping off the rolling 3 year window?
I vaguely recall reading it somewhere on this thread as being £105m (just within the allowed losses for FFP)

What about Henry?

Even though we have lost a few players, with a couple of additions our squad is still capable of challenging for the playoffs (assuming we can get around the FFP issue). Priorities would be a new GK and quality CB to challenge for a starting place.
GK - NEW SIGNING, Steer
CB - Chester, Elphick, NEW SIGNING, Clark
RB - RDL, Bree
LB - Hutton, Taylor
CM - hourihane, lansbury, Grealish, birkir (utility player) , Doyle Hayes, o'hare, jedinak, whelan
LM - Green, birkir (utility player)
RM - adomah, elmo
CF - kodjia, hogan, mccormack, Davies, RHM

I think the lack of experience is a non argument. To put it in context, Bruce's first job in management was with Sheffield United, where he achieved a 40% win rate. Even dimatteo took mk dons to the playoffs in his first job, and a year later got the baggies promoted.
With all Bruce's experience he failed to meet expectations with one of the best squads in the league. Certainly in the short term it counts for very little.
It would suggest knowledge of the game, profession and personal attributes are a better barometer of potential success.

they shouldn't have some kind of sneaky workaround for a law that says they need to play fair too. FFP applies to everyone in the league, it's not biased against anyone. Level playing field.
You mean just like corporation tax . Every company pays it, but some companies have clever accountants who substantially reduce the liability. I fully expect our new overlords to work around it. Worst case is they will have to grease a few palms with money to get approval to circumvent the rules.

If benitez was the option then Bruce out. If its Henry I'd rather keep the sweet potato!

If we are going to replace Bruce or should be for someone who is a genuine upgrade...e.g Benitez or wenger. Given the steep learning curve and the limited time before the season starts, Henry is too much of a gamble and will be out his depth.
The only way I see that working is if he had an experienced assistant and quality DOF to take the burden.

I really hope this guy isn't the Arab Tony. Complete chancer who bs'd his way onto the adults table with no funds to play.

There is no rebuild until we rid ourselves of the parasite that is Tapeworm Tony.

From Howard's tweets looks like Tony is asking for too much. He brought the club relatively debt free (only a modest 20m overdraft), inherited a higher value playing squad and received 65m in parachute payments.
Compare that to the situation now where the club is struggling to pay tax and wages, has sold most of its valuable playing assets, 13m in parachute payments and is loading itself with debt to cover the short term trading situation. No way is it worth 80m. 60m would be stretching it tbh.

QuoteAston Villa’s precarious future could soon be resolved as Tony Xia discusses takeover bids with two interested parties.
BirminghamLive understands that Xia rejected a 51 per-cent offer from a European bidder yesterday.
It's happening!

The 57m shares are the additional ones he has created, taking total shares to 142m. 57 is 40% of 142, so I'm assuming that is the 40% stake he is looking to sell as per media reports. This allotment took place on 25th May as per the other changes,so it doesn't necessarily signal any firm progress on a sale.

I don't know why people are still debating the financial situation. WE ARE ****! It matters not if we are **** in the p****y, arse, ear or armpit because the end result is the same whichever way it is.

The chances Dr Tony will ever been since again at Villa Park? Unlikely.
I hope not. The guy has taken us all for fools and I think his position as owner has become untenable. He has treated the fans with contempt and the club with disrespect.

It's clear now that Xia is a fraudster, but we don't know what kind yet. Is he just guilty of white lies about his wealth or something more sinister...a criminal fraudster who pockets the revenue from companies then disappears leaving unsustainable debt. Let's hope its the former!
