Eye watering to me or you perhaps, but £5m a year is pretty average for a PL manager.

I’m still not sure which part of us sacking a not performing manager would put any potential managers off, considering this is football and it is what happens.

again, it’s not 8 league matches, it’s 35. The original point is not valid.

Gerrard is 'dead man walking' as the phrase goes, and I'm pretty sure that behind the scenes it's probable the club have been in contact with potential replacements, and those talks will probably have just as much of a say on when it is exactly he gets sacked as any one result.

It's pretty obvious, if Gerrard is as bad as people thinks he is, then the bad form will continue, and the club will inevitably sack him, so not sure what people are worried about, it's just a matter of time now.

Very obviously people are ‘worried’ that he won’t be sacked, by evidence of him not being sacked yet.

To me, Lange seems sidelined. I reacted to quotes from Purslow in February where he referred to a chat with SG about signing older players.

Also, when I talked about Steven giving his initial feedback, he said, 'Look, I'd like to take the age profile up a little bit. We were the youngest average-age starting team in the league last season. I'd like to have proven winners'.”

To me it sounds like Gerrard wanted to tweak the transfer policy towards older, established players and Purslow gave a green light. Not sure Lange has much influence on anything since Gerrard arrived (maybe he never had).

“Proven winner” has to be my least favourite football cliche, one of many

A valid point I've not seen mentioned before.

It doesn’t really make any sense, there’s nothing early about sacking Gerrard. Saying ‘this far into the season’ suggests he started in August and not last November. Did Chelsea sacking Tuchel after 6 games put off Potter?

  5. Perhaps Gerrard and Beale could have focused on getting our good expensive players to work well together instead of forcing a failing ‘identity’ on them and the club. Maybe the identity of any team is what’s greater than the sum of its parts and it’s the coaching staffs job to achieve that. What a **** colossal waste of money.

Best we can hope for under the current regime is signing an entire new 11 tailor made to fit one very specific way of playing and then hope that works against every team we face. Awful strategy.

Of course they can. My point is people on here saying - "I am not going to another game until Gerrard is gone" "I have only been to this game...not going back" and the like. That is crap support imo. Just don't go! Actions speak louder than words.

I am behind everybody at the club. Gerrard failure is Aston Villa's failure. If you are not rooting for Gerrard making us better then you are against Villa imo. All for one and one for all.

I mean be fair, he is literally saying they’re not going to another game, they are staying home…

On the other point, I could say if you’re not upset by the complete lack of progress, the terrible football and concerned about the future of the club because you want to root for Gerrard then you’re against the club.
