It's clear that Pochettino has left to join a bigger and better team. I'm astonished no one on here has joined the dots and made the link. With the promise of a no expense spared top team, a brand new in the pipeline 60k stadium infested with knotweed, a trophy cabinet the size of Wembley thats just waiting to be filled - whats there not to like? I'm off to bet the kids on this.

You might be on to something but look at how many other managers are throwing their hats in the ring - Klopp, De Zerbi, soon to be followed by Ten Hag, Tuchel and Ancelotti. Amorim has also reportedly flied in to have a look.

Won’t be that easy for Poch to win out.

Don’t worry guys, over time you’ll all get institutionalised to the badge, you grow use to it, then before you know it, you’ll love it

There’s no way this monstrosity lasts more than a couple of years in the age of social media. They’ll be ridiculed and mocked to death.

This for me. But its usually 10 points geta you through the group but 2 extra games might increase points

It be all great fun whoever we get

That was the old format though. In the new one all 36 teams are in the same table and you’d have to end up 28th or better to advance, which is why I think it could be way less than 10 points needed, especially since all clubs play different opponents.

Edit: think I got it wrong and more teams get knocked out. Whatever. We’re in. We’ve made it.

I'm not predicting who we'll get.

I'm purely saying that for our first campaign in 42 years I'd rather get the big, glamorous (but harder) ties over the small, less glamorous (but easier) ties. Even though the latter would give us a better chance of qualifying because it would be a "luckier" draw

A nice combination of both would be the best. If we could get a couple of easier(ish) teams at home and manage to win this would bring more money and also 6-8 points might be enough to get to the playoff round, or whatever it’s called.

I’m glad we got Gerrard when we did. If we got a proper manager he likely wouldn’t have lost his job so quickly and we wouldn’t have got Emery.

Gerrard was part of the process.

I choose to completely ignore that time with Gerrard the fraud. Never happened.

To me we replaced Deano with Unai, who was able to continue and improve upon what Deano started.

Spurs could actually not qualify for Europe. If Newcastle and Chelsea win both their remaining two games, and Spurs lose to Sheffield Utd they would be 7th on goal difference. If United win the FA Cup they take the EL spot, 5th Europa and 6th Conference 😂

No no I want them playing extra games at 100 miles per hour on thursdays. That’ll do nicely.

CL qualification will mean there will be little to worry about concerning FFP.

In addition there will be several outs with wages off the books such as the loan signings.

I also think Luiz could be sacrificed if needed to bring in better but I’d expect a very busy summer at the Villa if CL is achieved.

Yes yes, and bring Kalvin Phillips right?

Doug will stay and he’s awesome.

If Spurs win today we are done. Classic Villa this.

Absolutely certain win for Spurs later now.

    Spurs will beat Pool today

Fail to win here and Spurs won't need a teamtalk later.

Some classic VT overreactions to simmer over.

    It's still in our hands!

Safe to say VT hasn’t been Champions league quality, especially in match threads.

Unlike our team. They’ve been fantastic all season.

There absolutely is a chance -- maybe slim, but still ... We blew our chance to dictate our own destiny today.

No we didn’t, it’s very much in our own hands, as it’s been for a long time.

We need a win, more than just for our CL spot. We need to finish this season well to help us prepare mentally over the summer, too, don't you think?

    No,  this is completely irrelevant.

we could pay half the wage for a player in his early 20’s for circa 20m which would be lower than digne’s amortisation per year and get a similar output.

Could we? Can’t think of too many LBs from the premier league who have had a better season than him.
20m is the price of a championship standout(if that) these days.
I’d be perfectly happy with Digne and Moreno going into next season, with Chrisene and Sousa on loan.

  11. This is more about getting ahead of the speculation about other teams pursuing him, not allowing distractions and just generally having the good vibes flowing with so many extremely important games coming in the next month.

For once, this is great PR from the club.

I might be wrong but I read that Sheffield payed £21m for him… so that’s a tidy profit,  even if it’s £9m we’d rather not spend?

The deal was something like 10 mil up front and another 10 mil only if Sheffield survive. If they don’t then Villa don’t get the other money and are obliged to buy him back for, say 8 mil. So, essentially, it’s been a 2 mil loan.
