  1. I honestly cannot believe there is so much negativity towards Terry coming back, one of our most consistent performers and a huge positive presence in the dressing room (look how much love he is still getting from the players on social media). It's obviously not ideal we are currently short in CB position, but bloody hell pull yourselves together it's borderline embarrassing.

Tempted to head over for this as I’ve got the day free.

Slightly worried about a deflated performance though. Last time I saw Villa play reading, Villa lost 3-1 and last time I managed to get to a game was the QPR debacle.

you and me both brother, that QPR game hit me especially hard as i also went the week before to see them struggle against sunderland ffs.

I know that it isn't just here or just our fans but ffs, I absolutely hate seeing players getting written off by their own fans on the back of something minor. Especially with players who have been very good beforehand or youngsters, who seemingly aren't allowed to make any mistakes (Hepburn-Murphy being the latest).

They are the same people that wanted Jack sold 2-3 seasons ago, you just have to acecpt that a minority of fans have no patience in football and only deal in extremes.

Based on he's looked crap defensively every time I've seen him play.

How can you say he's "got to be" our second best centre half if you'v literally just said he's only played there once, against a league 2 team.

If he gets a chance there and performs then I'll reassess my opinion based on his performances.

But anyone saying he's our second best centre half are literally just guessing.

Using that logic are you not guessing he will not be good enough as starting CB?

he has all the attributes to be a decent CB, his positioning lets him down alot at RB (which is understandable as it isn't actually his position).

IMO his pace will be a huge asset for the backline at CB. We've seen enough of the Jedinak experiment, time to give the youngster his chance (i do't count Yeovil as the entire team played gash).

Jedinak is a better option than Tuanzebe, but he's not good enough to be our first choice.

This just isn't true, both have made mistakes this season in each game they've played...but at least Tuanzebe has the pace to recover.

Tammy adds some much needed pace to our front line, very happy!

'I shouldn't be happy because eventually we'll lose'.

We haven't had a proper lull since the start of last season and Bruce has turned around any blips in form since then.

He's not excellent, he's not infallible but the constant crusade to deride him at any opportunity for any perceived slight is pathetic, tiresome and utterly pointless.

what about December of last season? 1 win in 6 matches, and we played dreadfully.

I can see where you're coming from, but I think the majority of people are happy with the results but very concerned with the style of play. These people (including myself) remember the dreadful times we've been out of form over Steve's reign. This, combined with the knowledge that teams only seem to get promoted with a coherent and recognisable style of football is making everyone very unsettled.

I think painting everyone feeling that way as a "infallible but the constant crusade" and " pathetic, tiresome and utterly pointless", is way over the top and frankly the type of short-sighted thinking that has this club still in the championship.

edit; for the record i am hoping that Bruce turns the manner of which we are playing around whilst we are still winning, but experience hasn't made me so confident.

I'm looking forward to seeing him back with this attacking line up.

I think his positioning will aid us more than last year as more play will come through the middle.

In the current squad he would be my 1st choice.

If we keep the ball on the deck I wholeheartedly agree with you.

  8. Last night Glenn seemed intent on kicking every ball into the air last night, was really frustrating to watch as he can pick a pass on the deck. Would like to see him phased out for McGinn or BB.

With still no announcement from Fulham, could we do a loan to buy for him possibly? If Bruce was that keen he may be tempted?

Not a chance now we've seen his attitude, he won't be welcomed back.

I wonder if the Moreira signing signifies we are looking for more technical, European players to suit the 3-5-2.  Mind you, I've never seen Moreira and he could have the worst distribution going, but you really need a keeper and back 3 that are calm on the ball.

  11. Let's be quite honest here, the Villa job should not be your first ever managerial job......especially in what is such a crucial season coming up.

We've already gambled big and lost, luckily we were saved in the 12th hour. Surely now it's time to learn from our mistakes, and to be steady footed rather than gamble it on a "what-if" celebrity name?

  12. Just putting it out there guys, I think we should re-align our expectations and concentrate on stabilizing ourselves in this division (again) before speaking about promotion.

Yeah your right, i didnt go well in depth looking into stats i admit, just did a quick one on goals and assists.

My main point was English player valuations compared to similar players from abroad, thats all.

Please don't take my comment as aggressive mate, i completely agree with your point on English players. My biggest fear relating to this is foreign clubs being priced out of affording our national youth, as they seem to be the only ones that want to give them actual gametime....but i guess that's a conversation for another time.

    I understand your point.

He is your local lad, us fans always feel very strongly when we get talented lads, especially local ones coming through so i do see where your all coming from.

Just as an outsider, as a football fan, not a Leeds fan, i look at Jack Grealish fairly, i look at his stats  and i think to myself, why would i spend 20, 30, 40mil on him?

You guys see his progression, you see his all round game week in week out, i dont.

All i can look at is what all fans look at when looking at players, how have they done, im quite fair, if we sign a striker i take minutes played into account and such, i do maths.

So overall he has played 44 games in the Championship ( i rounded it down), during that time he has scored 8 goals and he has 8 assists.

So thats basically a full season, 8 goals 8 assists, thats not to bad, but its nothing marvelous.

    Samu Saiz- 29 games, 5 goals 7 assists. . . . James Maddison- 40 games 14 goals, 8 assists . . . Diogo Jota - 40 games, 17 goals, 5 assists . . Gianni Alioski- 35 games, 7 goals, 5 assists . . Pablo Hernandez- 33 games, 7 goals 8 assists etc etc.

I realise with Grealish you sell potential to, but the stats dont back up the price is all im saying.

I see all your points of view, i really do, we have had lots of local lads come through and you become very protective of them, just as a football fan i dont see where the 20-40mil value comes from, thats all.

Just another stat to consider, he averages an average of 2 key passes a game which is the 8th highest in the Championship.

He also averages 3 successful dribbles a game which is the 4th best in the championship.

He also averages 3.4 fouls a game, which is the highest in the championship.

As you said you need to look at the all round game, and consider he is only 22, before being able to give an accurate opinion on the transfer-value valuation.
