Remember these "backroom staff" are anything but backroom five days a week when the players are training. These are the guys the players have to work with and they can/will/do have a bigger impact on player confidence and morale than any manager does.

I have a hunch that the players will feel a lot happier with these changes and I would expect to see some evidence of that on Saturday.

Holt was better than Gabby yesterday and, to be sadly honest, he's been as good as Benteke in most games he's played in ...... which, okay, isn't saying much !

He works hard, he talks to the younger players, he clearly wants to do well and, for me, that earns him my support.

He is what he is and he does what he does ..... its up to the manager to use him at the right times in the right circumstances and yesterday was so obviously not one of those moments !!!

I think he will lose most of the fanbase he hasn't already lost after today. Setting out for a 0-0 against Crystal Palace is just wrong for a club like ours !

We have a half decent away record arising from a fast counter-attacking style and Lambert plays Holt up front ..... how does that work ?

I have nothing against Holt but he's a big target man who, if he still has a strength, holds the ball up well but you don't want that if you are looking to counter with pace. Either Weimann or Albrighton had to play with Gabby, or even both.

I really don't get what Lambert is doing !!!!!

Holt is okay as an emergency backup to Tekkers but is Helenius so bad that he'd rather sign a veteran lower league player ?!!!

Lambert is a Championship manager on a good day and he has assembled a team that sits between League One and Championship level.

He has brought in poor players who - wait for it - perform poorly every week and, given extra money, will no doubt bring in even more poor players.

Tactically he seems inept, the players seem to lack character and the style of football REALLY is worse than under McLeish ..... in fact it is the least attractive style of football I have witnessed since my debut in 1968.

The word is OUT and if there is a second word it is NOW !!!

I really do not care about the relegation threat ..... all I want is for Villa to get back to playing exciting, attractive, positive, entertaining football even if that means we lose a few games 2-3, 3-4, whatever.

It isn't losing that is doing my head in, its enduring the worst brand of football I have ever seen at VP since my debut in the 1960s and that includes the McLeish era.

That style MUST be something that Lambert and his coaching team are drilling into the team because they are all serving it up to a man.

There is a total aversion to playing down the flanks and the response of all players to the mildest 1on1 threat is to turn, run back and pass backwards leaving the CBs or Guzan to distribute 50 yard passes in hope.

Only Delph has shown any positive intent on the ball and that is not enough.

As for the players, sorry but the likes of KEA and Luna to name two are simply well below Premiership standard ...... in fact neither would make most League Two sides if we were honest.

I can find no hope for the future under Lambert - there is no hope for the future under Lambert - he MUST go and please let it be soon.

Thought we outplayed Stoke in the first half without ever looking like scoring but second half a couple of old heads made all the difference.

We are a bunch of relatively inexperienced kids who DESPERATELY need a couple of experienced players, particularly in midfield. Unfortunately, I suspect Lambert will buy more kids in January and so it goes on ...... and on .......... and on !

If they offered me a choice of Lambert or McLeish right now then I would have to think SERIOUSLY hard and that says it all !

A team full of mediocrity - most not good enough for the Premiership - and a playing style that is positively sleep inducing.

Benteke doesn't look like the same player from last season. I don't agree with people saying that he doesn't care, but something is wrong with him.

He doesn't feel he has to prove himself this season and that's the difference. What you are seeing is a player who believes he is there and has nothing to prove.

A spell in the reserves might cure that !

Set up for a draw with little ambition for more. If it was McLeish we'd be doing our nuts !!!

Defence was solid, forwards not in the game and the midfield had a shocking lack of quality ..... Sylla and KEA looked like League One players and I never knew Westwood was playing until injury time !!!
