Pretty sure Diaby was signed because Williams didn't want to leave Bilbao. With Bailey looking significantly better this season, we'd be better off spending big on finding a better left sided player to compete with Buendia next season instead of Zaniolo.

And we are still consistently ignored by the magazine of the same name.
You mean the magazine who posted this video on Tuesday?

It's such a lazy observation from media pundits/social media commentators that Villa being in Europe is a downside and is going to hamper our Premier League form later in the season. Nobody brings that up at all when you talk about Man City, Arsenal, Man United, Newcastle, or even Brighton this season, but you hear it nonstop about Villa and West Ham. We actually have better depth in our squad than Man United, Newcastle, Brighton and West Ham do, and we have an elite manager who has actually won as many European trophies as the rest of the Premier League's managers combined. I'm not worried about the "Europe effect" at all on our league form. I'm much more worried about our away form, but I'm willing to bet that Emery is even more concerned and is already working on addressing it himself.

How the Hell is that not a corner at least? That fat fook Simon Hooper really is one of the worst refs in the Prem, and that says something...

Great... Can't wait to see people suggest Pavlidis every window for the next 5 years because he had one good game against us. Vagner Love 2.0.

Hilarious to see the "Arteta Out" crowd is starting to form. Arsenal fans really are the biggest crybabies in football.

Wow... No idea how that goal has been given...
- The ball is clearly out of play
- There is a blatant foul on the Arsenal defender there by Joelinton
Why even have VAR if stuff like this isn't overturned?

Because they dont want him. And he wont be 3rd choice he would be battling for no 2
lol... Mourinho was the one who brought him to Roma, played him through the good and the bad, now he is just going to give up on him after clawing his way back from an ACL injury? Never change, VillaTalk. Never change.

Because I actually watched a lot of Leicester last season... He was horrific. Wasn't just a good player in a bad side (ala Idrissa Gana Gaye during his time at Villa) he didn't put forth any effort and didn't look fit most of the time. Same story at Monaco as well, looked great upon arriving, then all their fans were happy to be rid of him.
Anyway, doesn't matter what I think because obviously Emery rates him and has a plan for him going forward, and I have nothing but unwavering faith in Don Emery.

I was crucified for saying I hated this signing back when it was announced. It's almost like he's done this before at Leicester and Monaco...

Delighted with this news! He's incredibly underrated by our own fans and the neutrals. I would love nothing more than Ollie to end up being our all time leading Premier League goal scorer ahead of that waste of space Gabby.

I need to back out. I'm already in too many fantasy leagues right now as it is.

Top 2 Goalkeeper in the world with Courtois... Won't get the respect he deserves because he plays for the Villa and had a lackluster World Cup by his standards. Absolutely vital to our standing in the table and will be nearly impossible to replace if he moves on. It's critical for us to win something and stay in Europe this season to keep him next season because if he goes, I have a bad feeling that we will regress and fall out of European contention again.

There haven't been a lot of big decisions to make, and the biggest one was the red, which was correct, yet somehow this is still the worst refereeing and assistant refereeing performance I've ever seen, even in the Championship.
Getting in the way of players, stopping the first half early, seeming to not understand the advantage rule, fouls being an absolute cointoss, handballs given from a foot away, not even getting goalkicks/corners and the direction of throw ins correct. It was an absolute disasterclass from start to finish, he needs demoting.
I don't know why the Premier League can't get the refereeing situation figured out but most of the other top leagues in the world can? Even during the Alex Ferguson era where he was paying off/giving significant gifts to the refs it wasn't this poor. This is the best and most profitable football league in the world, why are they not hiring the best referees from around the world to go along with it? The PL/FA need to stop burying their heads in the sand and hoping it sorts itself out because it's getting worse year after year.

I like him... It's rare to have really good touch and control when you're a big man, but Zaniolo seems to be built for the Premier League. Once he gets used to the lack of space and his teammates movements, he's going to be an issue for the opposition's defenses.

Another great performance from him tonight. Hopefully he keeps on proving us all wrong (myself included in this).

lol... Some of the hot takes on here are hilariously bad. Torres is going to end up being an exceptionally good defender for us by the end of the season, once he gets used to the pace of the Premier League. Everyone is acting like Mings hasn't made huge mistakes during the past 3.5 years for us...
Apart from the mistake leading to the goal (the one where Konsa and Martinez also played a part in conceding), he was excellent today. No idea why he's the new scapegoat all of a sudden when Konsa is hands down the weakest link in our backline at the moment.

You were just shitting on konsa whos been playing better than torres
Konsa has only played well beside Mings... Been absolute garbage under 3 managers partnering anyone but Mings... But you're right, let's write off Torres because Konsa can't pick up his man and defend 1v1.
-
So Torres is the new scapegoat now that Buendia/Mings are out for the season and Digne is playing well lately? Cool...
SMH... Never change, VillaTalk. Never change...

The next time someone tries to tell me how "underrated" Konsa is, I'm just going to bring up highlights of this half... Atrocious again today.

El Ghazi to Man United????????????????????
Why is nobody laughing at this??? It's like that rich kid who thought he was better than everyone that we grew up with being forced to drive a used Ford Taurus/Mondeo because their trust fund imploded. Man United are shambolic...
AEG is an elite penalty taker, but lower half Prem quality in everything else. Shows how bad the situation is over there that they'd even consider signing him.

lol... He just got here, the season just started, and he's already complaining about not starting to the media. I didn't want him at Villa because his well documented character issues at both Leicester and Monaco and what do you know? It's already starting here... If you watched him last season he wasn't bothered at all and didn't even appear to put in the work to be fully match fit. Hasn't done anything in his appearances to displace anyone else from the starting lineup. Can't wait for him to give up completely within a few months then look like the lazy fook he was for Leicester again come Boxing day.

Would you rather win the ECL or FA Cup or qualify for the Champions League this season?

I've been following football and supporting the Villa since 2006 and in that time I've seen nothing but cup final disappointments. The only trophy I've seen us win was the promotion playoff final and while that is one of the highlights of my fandom, it's not something I want to look back upon as the high point of Aston Villa in 20 years. You get the feeling that under NSWE & Emery, Champions League footy will come to the club at some time in the next few seasons by gravity alone and I've seen too many past Villa managers punt our cup runs to "focus on the league" and have it backfire anyway. Give me a cup win any day over Champions League qualification.
