That isn't how the England manger position works. You have to be a crap yesman manager to get a look in Smith wouldn't.
Back that up with evidence, Southgate's management record is as good as anyones.

If we get him for 17 million, he provides three seasons worth of good service and retains our league status, it’s probably a pretty smart signing.
Not one that excites me, I’d hoped for more imagination but I can see it’s merits.
-
He wouldn't be my choice, but if he scores even twelve goals, we probably stay up - so would justify fee/wages.

The advantage of a part exchange deal is that it muddies the water as to the value of the deal. So where a sell on clause is in place there’s a bit of room for manoeuvre. Unless it’s Hogan and we’d just get the local butcher to chop him up and send 40% to PSG.
I'm sure the French would treat Hogan as a delicacy.

Not exactly a great hit rate there, champ. He's also a African Prince, that needs to send money abroad.

I think people underestimate how quickly you can build a good team.
Obviously it takes a good manager and more often than not, money.
But we've seen in the past Atkinson, Little and O'Neill have taken struggling and turned it in a couple of seasons.

All untrue, Does anyone really think Villa quote all these figures?, They are all untrue talk by journalist who haven't got a clue and live in a fantasy world of recirculating made up stories, take no notice of any of this press click bait crap, because that's all it is, and they are making money out of it for every click, be patient and just wait till Villa announce it officially, then we can all get nearer reality.
Spot on.
People are losing their minds on twitter about wages and transfer fees.
I don't think villa have once revealed any details.

But you would think a bumper new deal would have been offered by now ?
If he wanted to stay, I think they'd have done it pretty quick.

I think he'd have signed a new deal if he was staying.
I realise he signed one last year, but a new one would've put an end to the story.

Been looking good in pre season training apparently !
He’s been first out, getting the footballs out of the bags and putting the nets on the goals.
Good lad Hogy.

We are either buying a superstar for forty million, or getting Clive Mendonca.
Big game, Sunday.

Have to agree he has been very poor all season for the price we paid. Thought it was a good move at the time but he showed zero improvement from the Championship and he's continually being punished for it.
I thought he looked so assured in the Championship, that he'd be great in the premier league.
He's good, just not a top six player.

What happens if Villa get relegated? Oh, he gets a big move.

He went on the most incredibly unlucky run too - how many ridiculous offsides and post/bar hits?!
He could've easily another five goals.
He's a top striker.
