  1. Collymore can **** off - all the shit he gave us for telling it how it was with Eck in charge. **** do one...

Welcome to this fine club Paul Lambert... May your tenure be long and successful - and by successful, just be better than the last incumbent... Keep us safe and push us forward and you will do well here.

Happy days at Villa Park this summer... How refreshing...

  2. A logo I made by changing the colours of the old circle logo

    newbadgecopy.png

and two kits with that logo

    villav5copy.png

    goldandblackawaycopy.png

Sod rules on stars being on kits

Now that a London Club has 'won' the Champions League, you might find that the rul on shirts having 'status stars' on them may get relaxed. I am sure that the media, Abramovich etc will carry the weight to put stars on their shirts...

    You watch...

  3. /\ the post on the previous page about KMAC...

    Whilst I have great respect for KMAC as a person and as a miracle worker with our reserves, his rather non-committal tenure as interim manager post MON is not a sound foundation for another opportunity - particularly with the squad as it is at this point in time. We were all blown away with our opening performance against the SHAMMERS... in the sun, in the rain... in the sun again. We trounced West Ham that day - but consider this;

West Ham went on a most appalling run and saw them relegated - and somehow Scott Parker got football writers player of the year (well, West Ham always need to be the media darlings, and always have to have a talisman world beating player). Scott Parker performed in the most anonymous captain's role that day and the result really showed just kind of what season Ham were going to have as opposed to any amazing season we were going to have. To then go and lose by 6 at the newly promoted Toon was pretty shocking. It was always scripted that the Toon would get revenge for that 'Sob On The Tyne' banner on the day we relegated them, but to lose by 6 clear goals was utterly unacceptable. Our Euro capitulation (again) at home (again) to Vienna was poor as well.

KMAC - you're a good guy, but not for first team manager please.

  4. Looking back, I do not really criticise him for the Ged deal... And as I have stated before everyone has a right to a second chance. So after Eck and the lies that went with it all, I would give him this chance now to get the right man in.

Ged could have worked out - yes it could. Eck was doomed from the start and you didn't need Yoda to predict the future for you.

He deffo said 'vibrant' - well MickMack certainly can't be accused of vibrancy. So you have to relax on that. I thought he had said 'young' too, but I am happy that an older fella could be on the cards.

Look - if this great club goes out and appoints another manager who has just got another club relegated (and Mick Mack was SACKED for heading that way remember), then we will have truly learned nothing. You can't even throw in the old chestnut of 'local rivals' or the General's fantastically ebullient 'imagine what he could do if he were backed.' The media have said we have no money to spend, so what would a Mick Mack do? Both he and this great club would be back to square one.

There's a bright future out there somewhere, Faulkner has this last chance to help discover it.

  5. I firmly agree with point 3 - in my book, everyone has a right to a second chance... even somebody who poked our dear Queen in the eye with a shitty stick. However, Joey 'Mad Dog' Barton has abused the right to a second chance, time, after time etc. If he sets foot in Villa Park as our player ever, I will return my ST without hesitation. The guy is a mark one penile delinquent.

Point 2 - I almost agree with you. Anybody coming in now and intent on giving 'all' of our squad a chance to prove themselves to be good, obedient young men could see us back down in the pooh and possibly worse in 12 months time. One way or the other, some of our players just have to go. I have to have faith that our owner will make a fitting appointment this time round - somebody we can grow to admire and respect, somebody who shares our passion, somebody who takes responsibilty... and utmost, provide a team that at least entertains us - the paying fans.

Come on - we're Aston Villa... With the media having made such a big thing about the hurt felt in Machester City's ranks over the last 40+ years of mediocrity and pain - one day it will be our turn again.

    UTV

  6. I'm getting £50 on Southgate today

Ticks all the boxes, Villa connection too so would go down well with fans

I also think he would be loyal to us for 4-5 years as he was to Gibson at Boro

Expect his odds to shorten after lunch

Interesting shout CI - but I would wager he is settled in his role at the FA and looks almost comfortable with his punditry position on ITV.

I'd like to see a proper old boy have a crack for a bit and Gareth may be a good call. Some will never forget how he left Villa for more ambition and ended up at Middlesbrough. IIRC Bosnich, Ehiogu, David James and Boeteng also went for similar reasons and look what happened to them... bugger all lol.

Southgate and Townsend in sensation double swoop?

  7. I've just had a thought, what if we're going after Holloway?

Nice one... - but why would that muppet come here? He labelled us a 'half arsed club who used to be famous...' Hardly the glittering praise of somebody that would be inclined to take up a job here...

I know he was trying to throw us off the scent of Charles Adam, but even so, there are ways of doing it and alienting this wonderful club, the club that gave the world league football (in essence, we'll be forever famous I thank you) is not going to be forgotten lightly.

I'm pretty nervous about next season - we still have all the trouble making shit at the club. If the new person came in and gave absolutely everyone a fresh chance is likely to mean more hard knocks for us endure. I'm not sure what the answer is, and who the answer is - but for once, I like what I heard from Faulkner - a need for vibrancy at Villa Park (that should be a given), and that had the club been accepting of mediocrity then they would not have changed managers at this stage. That is a pretty powerful statement of intent.

It just remains to be seen if the club can carry it off.

Vibrancy - I just don't see Bruce, McCarthy or Curbishly delivering that. Not even if they were backed... :winkold:

For me then, they are looking at a punt on Martinez, Lambert or Poyet. Very outside outsiders for me are Benitez and AVB.

Who knows what the club are thinking? Clouded, this club's future is...

  8. Are the club actually making one? Would seem a bit of a waste. I used to get all the videos (I even bought that 'Squaddies' vdeo in the 90s - tw@) and season reviews, but I realised that after one viewing, how likely are you to watch them again? Ever... To be honest, with Youtube and other media, you don't really need a season review DVD these days.

Last club DVD I bought was the League Cup semi versus Blackburn, and truth be known, it's still in the wrapper.

No way would I buy the 2011-12 DVD - there is no excuse for buying it. Might as well admit the season was a non-starter.

That said - I would buy a DVD release of the 1992-93 season (my favourite league season in recent memory, closely followed by 95-96). Got the league Cups multipack and the 1981 league/82 Euro Cup DVDs and that's probably all you need to know about AVFC in the modern era. Everything else seems to pale.

So, over to you Randolph and co - deliver that bright future. Sempre Fry, or whatever it is you say.

  9. I 'celebrated' by being tru to my word and renewing my ST at 1620 this afternoon. Gonna cost me as I had already spent the money I would normally have put aside... Still, after my boycott following the Swansea no show, I feel like I have my positivity for life back and certainly have my Villa back...

Let's look forward to some prospect of a bright (brighter) future.

Does that mean we're still in for Karl Henry and Leon Best, or is that all shit in the water now?

  10. I saw Carl Tiler play...

I saw Boulding play... It was against FC Zurich in the Inter Toto for GT2 - and I was sitting in the Lower Trinity (for some reason) by the tunnel behind some old fella wearing a shocking yellow string vest, brown corded trousers and Jesus sandals... Yes, a real horror show.

I saw Didier Six play for us to in my first ever trip to Villa Park - a 3-0 win against Sheffield Wednesday. I remember **** all about the game, other than getting a nice AVFC ski-jacket type coat and some aggro in the Lower North amongst the Wednesday fans I think.

  11. Guys,

with one game to go, it would show a lack of class is Eck was sacked at this very minute. I want him out as much as the next guy, but come on... I'd like to think that the club would at least have the decency to let him travel to Norwich with the team, experience the match and let him get home again before managing him out of the club starts... Let's have some dignity - which IIRC was sadly lacking when the SHAMMERS got rid of Avram Grant.

Our problems will start if we are here this time next week and nothing has happened. That's when you need to worry. Not now, not this week, not until after Sunday night.

After all, our away support will probably want one last dig at him won't they?

  12. I am pretty sure he will be gone and voted that way. Sure, the ginger clune has been feathering his nest and saying that he expects to be here - of course he wants to protect his interests and is a reasonable (almost) reaction to the spectre of the axe falling.

For certain, if I failed so miserably in my job, I would be down the road and would be lucky to keep my pension, yet alone a pay-out. Why the hell do they get clauses like that in their contracts when they already earn stupid money? Football is fooked. At this level anyway. Now, I do not know exactly what Eck's objectives were that were set by the owners of this club so maybe his job is safe given that he has just about scraped us over the line of Premier League safety.

On the flip side... he used to manage Blues - oh sorry, no that's not it... On the flip side, we were very shit before we suffered injuries and before we lost Petrov, who somehow became our best player in midfield when under MON, he was the weakest link in our midfield that comprised of Milner, A Young and a recovering Downing (the same greedy Downing that pissed on our chips after we took him on and resurrected his career - twunt). So he can't use injuries as an excuse to be fair. The club should never have allowed Young and Downing to leave in the same window and though we replaced one elderly goalie with a slightly younger model (fine specimen it has proved), and a moody yellow bellied enigma (Charles, that's you that is), he scuzzed a load of dead cash on the Terminator (Hutton and his orange boots) and a Jermain 'sick note' Jenas. Great stuff, really inspired...

Negative football Eck, that's all you do. Your results are poor, your playing style is poor and it's teflon sloped shoulders when the wheels come off. You are the weakest link, nice guy or not.

Now then, the biggest thing I saw on the BBC website this morning in the news that Eck was intent on staying was his reference to 'jumping off a bridge' and 'surviving his biggest challenge.' The media will have twisted the words I am in no doubt about that. But if I was the owner of this club and my main man, (the manager I employed to look after my team) was making references to having survived and throwing in references to jumping off a bridge, I would be concerned, given the hostility around the club's supporters to him, that he is or had been possibly suicidal.

I could understand why the job and the environment in which he has been doing it could result in pressure, ne - stress, that could cause thoughts like that. Randy must now see, whether Eck's comments are metaphorical (look it up), jocular (look it up) or sincere, that he requires to be 'seen' by a professional and managed out of the club. There is a duty of care to Eck and his family if he is feeling the pinch.

I am as big a critic as anyone of what he has done at and to this club - but i would hate to think that a suicide would be on the cards. We do not need that and through all of his faults and dazzling powers of dulard football prowess, he doesn't deserve death. It's a **** game after all.

He's probably not considering suicide, but using references like that in an interview would give me concerns as a manager. I was stressed out in my job last year and I had made some flippant remarks about 'being glad when I'm in my plastic urn,' and I got sent to see a Bupa psychologist. I now do a different job and feel much better about it.

Whatever you think of Eck's comments, mywords are only my view. His performance over the whole season is poor and for that, as a supporter, I am out... until he goes. I am a firm believer that we will be relegated in 12 months time if he is still here. Then, once relegated and he is gone, I will procure a ST. I will also procure a ST this summer as soon as he is gone...

But remember, and this is a message to the media - he/we were playing shit and dismal crap long before our senior players were getting injured. And that's a fact... We had a freakishly good run of fixtures at the start that saw us go unbeaten until October... We didn't win many though... Hardly any in fact...

And I can only really point to one single game this season where there has been genuine enjoyment at Villa Park - and that was the 2-1 defeat to Arsenal. To be fair, I ain't been since the Swansea farce and you can find my posts about why elsewhere. Even the amazing 'Ruddy Hell' match at home to Norwich was a bottom clencher of nervy tat.

He has to go - for our benefit, the benefit of the club, and (in my view) his mental welfare. I really think he has delusions that he has completed some Greek mythological trials, and is suffering with the clouded stress of it all. I know I was after 86 minutes against Swansea, and that is why I stopped going. I had become ill and very angry. And then, as it's all just a game, I stopped. And feel all the better for it. Even GT2 or DOL never made me ill.

Enough from me, now manage him out of the club by mutual consent. That way, we can move forward and give the next incumbent a good pre-season, and Eck leaves with his life intact.

If you made it this far, bless you... Enjoy the rest of your day...

  13. Do you think the Club will be doing the traditional end of season 'lap of honour' after the Spurs game? I might revoke my self imposed VP exile (while Eck is here) for that game out of morbid curiosity.

I recall GT Mark 2 coming on the mike at the end of 2002-03 and stated 'It's been an awful season...' and then the boos... Textbook Villa drama.

Would the Club and Eck be foolish enough to do a lap of honour after the Spurs game? Could be nasty.

  14. How about a good old fashioned pitch invasion

Actually, if people are brave enough, that's not a bad idea... If 20k did it, they wouldn't dare ban you all as the potential ST sales loss would be unbearable lol...

A pipe dream, I know... but the irony of the club banning it's revenue stream from going to games would be one sure protest...

    I kind of like it.

  15. I've stopped going this season despite having a season ticket. Sure as hell not going to pay for the pleasure of having an empty seat represent me at VP. I'm going to Villa Spurs to say goodbye and thats that for me until the football improves, which I imagine will coincide with the departure of AM.

For those that do the stats I've had a season ticket for 26 years (or so).

    This /\

Already spent my ST money for next year on something guarenteed to give me years of enjoyment, not 19 games of misery and dis-enjoyment.

I voted no-Mcleish. He's actually had enough time to work his magic. And it made me ill. Don't enjoy it anymore...

    Other factors for me include;

    - spending time with my family on one of only two days off a week I get.

    - other hobbies and interests that currently give me more enjoyment and value for money

    - costs of getting to and from the game (train, bus, car or whatever)

    - top flight football is shite and broken, filled with greed and overpaid (disgustingly overpaid), ungrateful and cheating players (Ashley Young for Man U against QPR).

    - Shit refs... and always in favour of the big teams; look at Chelsea and Man U games at the weekend. You all know it to be true.

    - Life's too short to be wasting time getting depressed at Villa Park.

So long and thanks for all the fish.

Raver will return when the shroud of the dark side has been lifted from VP.

How much do Thai Bride's cost to hire these days?

    Nah, they are over rated...

    Move along.
