  1. Given MON's penchant for sticking with players he has previous with then he'll almost certainly be giving the Dunne-O'Shea combo another whirl at some point.

Not convinced by JOS either, he's pants when up against any kind of decent attacking team.

Not a whole lot of quality in the current CB options: Dunne/O'Shit/Clark/Sledge/O'Dea/Duffy/Delaney

  2. repulsive, looking forward to McGeady and McClean consistently on the wings and pity poor Seamus Coleman as MON has a dislike for right backs, probably have Paul Green up there. also think Sammon be brought in as the Heskey type player

    :crylaugh:

Cheer up Zatman, whatever happens, with a MON/Keane combo there's almost certainly going to be fireworks, at least we have that to look forward to. I'd rather have those 2 wingers playing rather then having Walters or Cox masquerading as wingers as was the case under the old regime. Besides, Robbie Brady is looking decent, he'll surely pick him.

Nonetheless it's a big job, Ireland are well stocked in midfield but looking poor enough in central defence and up front, not sure even a Guus Hiddink could sort that out. Not a whole lot of talent coming out of the underage setup bar the Villa starlets, hopefully O'Neill will be able to pinch some of Norn Iron's young talent to plug the gaps  ;)

  4. Doyler made his name in the LoI on the wing but that was years ago now and being the target man is his game these days. McGeady or McClean should be on instead of him and or/Stokes. Noel King is quite the contrarian in his team selection.

  5. I was drunk the other night and got offered some LSD at 3am. Me being the idiot I am thought "hey why not, what's the worst that can happen?"...

For the first couple of hours it was a really good laugh, but then turned into the scariest and worst experience of my life. I actually thought I was going to die. Had absolutely no idea what I was doing, had no idea of my surroundings, in my mind I went to a different universe but somehow I managed to get home at 9am (no idea how). Then spent the whole day lay in bed, heart racing, clinging onto my phone in case I needed to contact someone to help. It was so surreal, all rational thinking goes completely out the window and I felt like I was forgetting to breath which brought on more panic.

No idea how people can do that for fun. Never again for me. It's amazing what a tiny piece of paper can do to the human mind. Scary stuff.

However, I'm glad for the experience. Learnt a few things about myself which was well needed. Lesson learnt that night.

  6. Remember when I had my heart broken by that head wrecking girl back in May/June... I have a bit of an update.

I met her out last night. I knew she'd be at an event, so I brought a few friends along. She came over and said hi. We chatted for about 3 hours about what happened and so on. It was fun. Not serious or anything. We were both pretty sober, because she had to get up early for work today early. We kissed. She told me she loves me. She still has a boyfriend. We got a taxi home together. Kissed all the way home in the taxi, but she won't come home with me because she has a boyfriend, so I just got out first. Told the taxi driver as I got out that she has a boyfriend. Apparently he chastised her all the way home. Texted me all night. Half the text would be about how she can't be around me and the other half would be about how she wishes she was with me right now. This texting practice repeated itself a number of times. Kept telling me how she wasn't ready to finish with her boyfriend.

Now I know you're going to say I should be running in the other direction as quickly as possible, but as I said back in June, I really do like her a lot. She is using me to make herself feel better about herself, but I enjoy being with her and everything that goes with that. And I've been through losing her before. Last night went about as well as I could have imagined. I did spend the last 2/3 months kind of thinking about her, but I'm more able to handle her now than I was before.

So she text me today to say that she's not going to text me again because she just can't be around me. Says she'll see me at the next such event, which will be a ball in November that my band will hopefully be playing at. Naturally I have a great interest in playing that ball because she'll be there. So yeah... tell me what a total bitch she is and what an idiot I am for entertaining her nonsense....

Clearly a professional headwrecker. Get with her and give it a few months then you'll be the unfortunate boyfriend in a situation like this.

  7. He's our Abramovich and every bit as dangerous.

You'll have a Solicitor's letter through your letterbox for that BOF

Seems like MON is the people's choice, can't say I'm too enthused.

  8. Roddy Collins being linked....... :D

If you wait a few months Hodgson might be available, probably wouldn't look great appointing someone sacked by England but he's the type who'd do well with Ireland I'd say.

Pfft Ireland can do better then that spoofer. Its been confirmed that lovable billionaire Denis O' Brien will continue to pony up a fat cheque to attract a big name

    FAI Press statement

    September 11, 2013

    Football Association of Ireland

The recent results against Sweden and Austria were very disappointing for everyone involved in Irish football, the manager, the players and supporters. Our aim of qualification, although mathematically possible, is now highly unlikely even though the team will always do everything within their power to keep that hope alive. The FAI Board of Management will now consider the current position over the coming days.

The post-match press conference which was due to take place this afternoon in Dublin has been cancelled

  10. For all his hype, the jury is still out on McCarthy. He has put in some ok performances in friendlies but nothing spectacular, my suspicion is he isn't good enough to play in a 442. I'd also drop one of JOS or Dunne for Clark, all capable of howlers but has shown he can be decent in the green.

1-1 tonight I reckon, Trap to cling on 'til the inevitable annihilation in Cologne. Crazy to think the Habsburgs don't have Weimann as a regular starter.
