Cloggers I'd imagine. I'm quite surprised he doesn't rate Weimann tbh
-
Yay. If he's number one next year I'll commit.
-
Don't agree at all. Watched every game and has been far from "solid" at left back in the vast vast majority of games he's played, IMO.
-
Given is though isn't he?
-
I'm sure Tottenham and Liverpool fans said the same.
-
His cameo v Liverpool showed promise ,his stinker v Hull showed he may not be suited to life in the prem
Saying that I wouldn't mind seeing him and Grealish both line up in the starting eleven( Delph and Cleverley as the 2 centre players doing the hunt and destroy role ) and see what they could create ...
Was our best player by a mile in that Hull game IMO.

I would bin him for the fact he doesn't contribute anything that wins us games. We need players who are willing to take people on and hit shotsNot class but has his definite strengths which is more than I can say for a lot of players in the squad who quite literally offer nothing. Would be quite far down my list of players to bin tbh

Excellent player but we don't have the players to get the best out of him.

If you want to create a scenario to have a moan then carry on.
Gil is young, I'm sure will be on relatively average/low wages compared to the rest of the squad, and had looked infinitely better than the likes of N'Zogbia and Weimann. He has been training regularly, suggesting there hasn't been a bust up nor is Gil injured. Gil has also been given one 60 minute chance under Sherwood, in which he didn't play particularly good or bad, and has been frozen out since.
No, no one does. Just some act like they do to have a moan about the manager.
Do you?
You know he's been frozen out and exactly what's gone on?
Yes. Gil can slow things down and dictate the offense with his guile and skill. What a shame he has been frozen out. It's one of the reasons I have doubts about Sherwood. Does his pride and ego cloud his judgement? Should Gil have played against Southampton, or Burnley? For me the answer is clearly yes. Cleverley belongs in there too. But Gil earned the right to at the very least be used as a substitute.
Don't we have one already in Carles Gil?We need more variety in central midfield anyway, it can't all just be runners and hard work otherwise Delph and Cleverley if he stays will be half dead by xmas.
Oh for an artist or two who can control the ball in central midfield and dictate the play particularly in home games. A player similar to Ki of Swansea.
Whatever has happened with Gil, the fact is he is still amongst the playing staff and is a capable player who could've contributed towards the end of the season (especially when others used were practically running on empty)
This leaves us to believe that Sherwood is not playing Gil simply because he doesn't rate him as a player, and believes someone like N'Zogbia (who has put in about 2 respectable performances in his entire 4 year Aston Villa career), can do a better job. Of course, we can't know for sure if this is the real reason, however due to none of us seeing inside Tim Sherwood's head we are left to presume that this is the reason, as it looks extremely likely.
The logic that we can't blame Sherwood for not playing Gil because we aren't definitely sure of the real reason is flawed IMO. It suggests you can't ever blame any manager for a team selection without him coming out and telling the media the exact reasons for it. I will continue to believe Sherwood has dreadfully mismanaged this entire situation until proven otherwise.
Impossible to debate such a sound argument

Was talking on AVTV about how "we need to do better next season" and that "we are going to try to build something strong".
Read into that as you will.
I took it as him simply just saying the right things, but I don't believe his head has been fully turned yet. Still believe there's a chance he could stay another year, or maybe until January so he can assess if there has been any improvement under Tim.

First decent performance he's put in for the club IMO. More of the same please
-
Absolute joke for that last goal. Made my blood boil. Disrespectful
-
A-team: Given Richardson Nzogbia.
B-team: Guzan Sissokho Gil
Ridiculous... would love to be proved wrong though.
-
That was really funny haha
:)

I thought Hutton looked decent in the United game and obviously very poor at Southampton. I can't remember any other games he's played there to be honest but if he just played poor in one game then it might be a bit harsh to write him off playing there - especially considering how many poor performances Richardson has put in, IMO.
-
Would rather Cissokho or Hutton tomorrow, but saying that it really is a horrible set of players Sherwood has to pick from and I wouldn't hold it against him if he does play.
-
The major flaw I find in this argument is that, even when he plays outwide, he misses countless sitters. So him playing up top would just result in more chances and much more sitters being missed. The guy has zero technique.
Countless sitters? Lambert's teams created less than McLeish's, he's hardly had many chances to score, especially when played out wide. I think he'd be a very decent striker if given the chance, but it seems Sherwood doesn't rate him.
If you actually watch us play and can't see how many clear cut chances he blazes over, passes straight at the keeper etc then I think we've been watching different games. Needs about 10 chances to score
-
This whole situation is just crying out for a HairyHands ...
-
Agree. Give him a shot as the main man with decent service and he'll score goals. He was never going to set the world on fire stuck out on the RW.I've said before and I'll say it again. Love the guy but he isnt good enough. Doesnt score enough, doesnt create enough, misses loads of chances, ruins loads of attacks, doesnt have a position, doesnt do anything well.
I think that's unfair. He never got a proper chance under Lambert to play as an out-and-out striker, which is clearly what he is.

Interesting :-)

100% agree. The treatment of Gil has been utter madness, he would quite simply improve us with his movement and creativity, two things we really lacked today. I seriously question the managers judgement on this one.
What can N'Zogbia do that Gil can't?
Probably a fair bit seeing that N'Zogbia is fit and Gil is injured.
1. N'Zogbia has played over Gil many times when they've both been fit under Sherwood.
2. No one was aware of Gil being supposedly injured when people (including myself) were posting asking why Gil wasn't involved today.
So why are you attempting to ridicule them for the club not making it clear that he was injured?
-
He has been treated terribly but he gets better and better with every game he doesnt play for us.
Completely false IMO
Was getting rave reviews from not just villa fans but others as well. I even remember various posters worrying that there was only a 10 million or so buy back clause in his contract from Valencia and speculating how long we could hold on to him.

That would be a possible explanation if it wasn't for the fact N'Zogbia does nothing defensively.
