  1. Stop this high line shit.

Get some shape...stop backing off..especially away from home.

Have a bit of work ethic and move the ball.

It's even a reserve spurs side....some of these players haven't been in a match squad in ages.

Game should be dead but we have a chance

    I expect better things

The high line has us in our highest league position in a decade and back in Europe. Why on earth would you want to

High line has nothing to do.with it....its unai's work going forward.

The high line is more risk.than reward.

Playing it on the half way line gives the oppo a starting position of being onside...we go one way...they go the other.

There's the risk...both are going opposite directions...and has proven many times..we then have to back track and Emi makes the save.

Cant keep giving oppo a whole half to play with.

Drop 10.yards mid blockish narrow.the space between back line and GK...they can't go over the top then...theres no space...like what teams do to us.

Dropping it 10 means oppo is our half already starting from a potential offside position rather than an onside when it's on the half way line.

Why cure the problem....when.we could prevent it a lot more...just a thought

  3. i thought he got in good positions and got on the ball a lot.

I think he was let down by Digne not playing more forward so he had an outlet...most the time he had to either come back inside to trouble....Moreno would have been great for him

Probably should have scored...extra touch took him wide....maybe confidence he does.

I'd be more concerned if wasnt getting in the positions and not wanting the ball...the end product will come soon

  4. At home we can get away with it because ,most teams will sit back

Away i would like to see it dropped a bit back....Dublin was right...we are basically giving the oppo's the whole half to play with...its risky...i'd rather be a bit deeper and close that gap between the back line and GK.

Ultimately we are going one way and the oppo are going the other way.....as a starting point fine but we must drop with the ball to make it more effective...rather than hoping for an offside....Martinez can then act as a sweeper keeper...if one gets through..... there was one with digne and zaniolo getting it wrong

  5. I only watched the first half because I had to go out.

We always seem.to struggle against teams who do play the low block and five in the.middle.

It was clear even early on we were going to have much of the ball.

Second half I would have liked to see maybe 3 at the back and put the extra attacker on give forest something to think about rather than than just sit and say go on then.

They had the numerical advantage at the back and in midfield...always going to be tough.

Wakins and diaby plus zaniolo 3 against four and luiz kamara mcginn and either cash or Diane against their 5.

Disappointed but we dust down and go again

Mings is sich a huge loss.

Comments like this really make me laugh

Player not playing gets a mention when something bad happens.

Mings is a loss...but come on....its not like we never conceded when he played

Going in 0-0 after dominating 1st half ...we all.knew what would happen...mings or no mings

  7. Definitely not the best of games.

I still feel there is a really good.player there.

Not much of a preseason...new.country...high expectations.

I think for the first goal leading from the corner...it.was a bad touch but having seen it on the TV....neither luiz or kamara show for him which ultimately led to his mistake.

  8. The performance has been poor.

    However...its a team effort....

Saying Mings this...MIngs that would have changed the result if the other 10 are doing naff all.

Is mings supposed to close down their defence....is mings supposed to chase Trent down so he can't ping balls....he is a loss...but not the savour.

It's a team effort or in this case a severe lack of

But one swallow doesn't make a summer.

Come back when he has had a good run of games with good performances 👏

    Let's be sensible 👍

Stick that performance in someone in a utd....arsenal.....even west ham the  media would be reaching for andrex watching that.

While I am fine with us playing a high line, there are moments in games where we should be willing and able to play with a lower block. At the end of the game on Saturday we were just asking for humiliation by persisting with it.

Another example which comes to mind was Emery's second game in charge, against Man U in the league cup. We were leading midway through the second half, they had already missed a few very good chances by exposing our high line, we persisted with it and lost 4-2.

Ideally, we should be able to read the situation and deduce whether we are more likely to benefit or to pay the price for any given chosen tactical approach.

Spot on fella.  This is basically what I was trying say.  Lets use it...but we need to realise that when its looking a concern....change it up.

  12. Interesting debate.

For me, I'm not a fan of it nor was I fan of it last season.  Reading some of the comments 'it worked last year' is not really looking at it properly.  Did it work last year...or....did we get away with it.  I'd say the later.

And this is the problem, we got caught a lot playing high...last ditch tackles and even saves by Martinez, but ultimately, did we concede....No.  I look at the Spurs game at home, Even Newcastle, Brighton.

The issue with a high line is it doesn't make the opposition change the way they play....why...they will keep doing the same thing until eventually one gets through....Newcastle Saturday did this and capitalised many times.  Its a big risk.

So...what's the solution...I think Emry (only criticism) needs to realise that playing this system, and using sat as an example...we were 3-1 down and still playing high.  Just drop back a bit...soak it it up, let them beat you rather than give them an opportunity...a mid to low block....10 yards nothing major....this would cut the one over the top as the space is limited.  Why run the risk...just cut it out.

You can play a high line...with possession but without you cant just stand still...like the Barnes goal....no mans land...you need to react and thats to drop....quick....lot easier to catch up moving rather standing still.

For me...just drop back a bit...let the oppo beat you by making you do something....dont give them chance as ultimately...we will concede

Didn’t he used to be a midfielder though? How can he not want the ball?

We can’t be a team challenging at the top end of the table with any player that doesn’t want the ball.

He was a right midfield / wing...receiving the ball there totally different to playing at right back.

You can see it all.the time....ball comes to him and he panics.

Absolutely. We need better to be challenging the clubs ambitions.

For me it's his positional sense. How many times do our wingers get the ball under pressure or are forced back. Then compare it with wingers against cash. He is either to deep.or just let's them gain 30 years before doing anything

  14. still keeps getting caught with 60 yard diagonal pass and slow to get out....took his goal well...links up in final third but still needs to work on positional sense

Mings blocked the initial shot and it just fell to them again

I've said this before...he sits too deep in our box.....he blocks it on the 6 yard line having tuned round from initial shot.

If he aint that deep and where the goal shot comes from he hooks that away....instead...no mans land on 6 yard line
