  1. Ok first half. **** garbage second half. No balance, fire in the belly, movement, passing. **** clueless and the buck stops with the manager. Spurs, especially through Huddlestone who as man of the match by a country mile, kept it on the ground, moved it well, had movement, clsoed down in numbers, attacked with pace, numbers and played it at a high tempo./ Bit like the Villa of 2 seasons ago. Oh where is THAT style of play now. 'arry's boys impressed me. Their goal was blatant handball, but **** it, they deserved that luck, they played terrific football and something out the game today. I was, and have been for a while now, embarassed by Villa and our 'potential top four' tag. We can be, but the style of football makes us a laughing stock to be put in that bracket. **** **** awful Villa. And this goes back to most of last season too. Show's how poor the league is.

**** sort it out O'Neill, cos as it stands there's more chance of me getting my pecker noshed by Cheryl Cole than this Villa team making top four. And that's what pisses me off as we HAVE the players. Stop making them play defensive shit 'protect the lead and hoooofffffffffff it' football and let them play the **** game!!!!

Couldn't of put it better myself, hopefully we will be last on MOTD has no one would want to watch that shit again. Blaming the ref who was equallly as shit and a handball is just looking for excuses, another inept performance by a bunch of overpaid overhyped so called footballers.

Hull next week, that should be fun another team who have started to find some form who will probably have a go or put the bus in front of goal and will ask us to break them down, fat chance of that.

I used to go and the watch the Villa and think we can 3 points today now I go and I think can we put two passes together or even more crazy have a shot on goal our play is the poor, uninspiring dull to watch something needs to be done to sort it out.

Apart from Beye, Carlos, Milner for all is running and Gabby for chasing down shit service he got all day the rest can all do one. End of rant

  2. Poor performance. Today reiterated the lack of quality we have in the middle. we never have shots on goal, work the keeper nor do we play at a pace that is threatning, we are too slow on the ball and this gives the other team team chance to get back, and we so predictable.

And WTF is going on with crosses, they either go short or row z, get it sorted especiall as we rely heavily on crosses. Some players do need to be dropped imo, Young (offers nothing these days, doesn't beat a player cant cross for shit) Carew (uninterested, lazy.....etc) Sidwell (runs arround like headless chicken, doesn't shoot, and cant pass wind let alone a good ball)

Good point - back four look good, especiall when they get zero help from the middle.

  3. I thought Sidwell did an excellent job today, great energy levels.

Come on your having a laugh, he did nothing all game. He had a real chance today to come out and establish himself in the middle. Yes he gets in the box, sometimes, but its a game of 90 mins too many times today the back four, who looked solid again today, were looking for a player to pass to.......Sidwell spent all game 4 feet from O'Hara even when we had the ball. Young and Milner were again left isolated when they got the ball as none the two middle players gave them an outlet to pass to. so we have to go back all the time.

Like people say, it wasn't the best of perfomances but today did show that we still lack that attacking influence from the middle, Young was infective too this ment times he and Milner were left isolated on the wings with four pompey players to get through hence why the ball often came back. Need to get involved more.

Gabby - thats whet we like to see can see some confidence in him, great turn for the goal and made some intelligent runs.

Far from a solid performance too many times pompey had a pop from the edge of the box, alright they didn't go in but better shooting and we might have lost.

3 points YES, room for improvent DEFO. We all move on

  4. Considering we had 3 new defenders just come back from an international break I thought we played ok and diserved the 3 points. It was always going to be tough because of this even more so with it being a derby game.

Top marks to back four especially; considering these boys have probably only had maybe two training sessions together you cannot fault their performance. At times they did look 6 and 7’s (positioning), but that expected but the majority of the time they were superb, Collins, brilliant, I for one was slightly critical of this signing but if he continues to play like he did Sunday then I hold my hands up.

What impressed me most about the back four was their willingness to bring the ball forward and look to play the ball at every opportunity and bring players in to the game instead of just hoofing it to no where, when they did go long it had a purpose and worked on occasions. Also their calmness under pressure, when the ball came in to the box they headed out to the flanks to relieve the pressure to often our defenders would head it straight to someone sitting on the edge of the box and puts under more pressure, it was good to see this sometimes a cross would come in get headed by Collins or Dunne ending up near the half way line.

Big plus to MON to, subs haven’t been his forte over the years but this one was spot on and at the right time, game was crying out for big John and worked.

NCR and Petrov played well and linked up good a couple of times, only criticism Sidwell, is he there, what does he do, thought he should of gone of for Carew and NRC stay on, but hey it worked. Young was a bit quiet and Milner, yes it wasn’t the best of games for him but he showed willingness, wanted the ball got in to good positions and carried on right to the end, that run for Carew sums it up, I’d rather him have a bad game and try to rectify it than to have a bad a game and cant be arsed, top man.

  5. Overall - not impressed, only thing that has been adressed is the number of players we now have. The other main area 'quality' has not. Its good in a sence that we now have players to fill in if we get a few injuries but none of them are going to set the field on fire with their 'footballing ability'.

Its all well now having the numbers but who is going to take the game to other teams when Young is double teamed???????

Would like to of seen Kranjcar especially as he went for 2 mil, defo missed the boat on that one, proven quality international who can actually play, go figure?

  6. Not just the front two that have lacked movement Delph and Petrov haven't made much space for themselves either.

Thats because there having to come to deep for it so when they turn they have 2 forwards and then the midfield behind them, get the defenders to bring the ball out more and play in there half, looking a bit better as the game goes on

  7. everytime i see shorey get the ball, i cant help thinking "you should not be playing for aston villa"

Bit harsh if actually look him play he is a very good footballer, done nothing wrong for me, lay off him a bit.

A lot of ball retention but going nowhere, defenders need to come forward more and draw in their front two at the moment our midfield are coming far to back for it then get chalenged by the fron two instead of the midfield. Draw them in and get the ball to midfield against midfield who can then release the forwards

    Come on!!!!!!!!

  8. What sums it for me is one of their guys had the ball right on touch line back towards our goal with one of ours tight, he turns plays a pass along the line. then another pass inside, guy then sent it 60yards across pictch right on to the left wingers boot couple of more passes and we clean it off the line. CULTURED.

Something we lack, played sightly better than on sat but we could be here all night and we still wouldnt score. bad times

  10. I would imagine MON wanted to keep his match winners on. .

Where have they been since Feb. If lost please return to Villa Park asap. Sorry couldn't help myself:)

Anyway, reasons to go - few years now we have had to listen to MON say small squad, sell players before buy, buy average players so how long do we continue in to 4th 5th years, do we hope it will all turn arround.

Plus side, he has managed to get us 6th twice get Young play, some good transfers. Its a tough one for me but if MON was to go who would you have come in?????????/

  11. Personally I feel very much as if it’s been anti-climactic. We go in to the season less well prepared than the last but I can see some good signs from the youth players.

I think MON has let down the club by his transfer dealings, I know there is still time but I think we are making the same mistakes time and time again and he really should not of allowed Knight to leave unless he was 100% sure he had a replacement. He’s whined about the small squad and done nothing to address this – you can bleat on about quality for ages but if you only go after the Ronaldo’s of this world eventually you just have to accept that you get the best of who will actually come to you.

If we have a slow start to the season it’s going to be even harder to attract players in the final two weeks of the transfer window and we may really struggle.

I’m not quite in the suicidal bit but I’m very disappointed and pessimistic as regards out chances this season and although I’ll be there cheering the lads on tomorrow I think we may have to accept we missed our chance last season and the best we can hope for this season is a cup and mid-table monotony.

Ditto. Couldn't have put it better myself. Slightly worried that we will start has we finished last year Wigan will put 10 men behind the ball double up on Young and we wont have a clue what to do because we just dont have the quality nor a Plan B.

  12. Yet another disappointment, sometimes I dont I why I bother, months ago it would of hurt to see and hear how crap we have become now I just except it, what makes it worse is that some people still think it all rosie and 'Dont worry we have 3 weeks left blar blar'

Why are people defending this result as just a pre season friendly, total bollocks,

1- pre season is about getting fitness up, you should still be able to put two passes together.

2 - Get use to it, because 3/4 of this team will be in starting 11 in 3 weeks yes 3 weeks. Most from last year that managed only 3 wins in 4 months, wait for 6th crap.

3 - Transfers, crap crap MON doesn't know his arse from his elbow on how to sign someone let alone someone half decent.

Things have got to happen fast and mean fast because at this rate we be in bottom half by end of august and would want to come to us then its a harsh reality and people need to realise this, if it looks shit, plays shit, chances are it is shit! Is there light at thend of the tunnel, yes but its fading very fast.

Rant over, off to bed, will tune in tomorrow as whats left of me that still believes and hopes for something, just anything
