  1. Mooney, what did you do the other day? Saw your FB status.

I was away on the weekend but managed a 2.5m (I think) interval run from lamp post to lamp post, still walk run and not jog run, that's **** hard man.

Just played 60 minutes of 6-a-side and when I finished did a 1.5m as quick as I could without spewing up the biggest hill I could find, didn't time it, but felt the effort for sure.

Looking forward to 10k on Wednesday/Thursday with Si again definitely :D

    Rest tomorrow

PS - Still no beer after 11weeks, and 364 days smoke free :D

  2. Dont know much about running but... think some of it depends how old you are. do you go eyeballs out in the 10k runs or can you talk to each other ? In bike racing , I might do a recovery ride on Monday after racing on Sunday. Supposed to get rid of lactic acid etc; if you use a pulse meter that should tell you if you are recovered or not I think.

Do you go out Saturday AND Sunday or Saturday OR Sunday ?

I wish I could start running 'cos I know it is good - but it hurts my legs too much !

Sorry mate, didn't see this earlier.

I struggle to talk for the first half, it's easier after halfway for sure.

I haven't got a pulse meter but have been considering one on a watch.

I only do Saturday or Sunday, couldn't do both.

And running is ace man, GET SOME PROPER FITTED SHOES THOUGH!

  3. TBF, I got no problem with the route, it's still all very new to me at the minute, still very exciting because each week I hit a new benchmark.

What I'm going to try and do is fit in a different run during the week though if I can, can't really decide when or what to do though...

I play 7-a-side Monday nights for 60-90 minutes.

    Wednesday - 10k with Si

    Saturday/Sunday - 10k with Si

What's the deal with recovery times and rest times and that? If I went out on a Thursday or Friday would it be too much do you think?

  4. I don't think Si needs it to be fair, but a combination of legs getting tired and lungs going mean I just need say 15 or 20 seconds to catch up again. Some way from doing 10k without at the minute, am I running too quick or is this normal?

  5. Right, been out again tonight, done 10k again, with Si again....

We run at a speed far greater than any other run we've ever done, we walked far less than any other run we've ever done, we practically powered back to the house at the end, yet our time was pretty much exactly the same as last week.

What's all that about? We both expected it to be a lot quicker, but it's an almost on the dot 1.05-1.10 time even when we're blasting it.

  6. Any more lately Santa?

Didn't play football yesterday due to the school being shut, so hit the road tonight to stretch out a bit, trying to do a bit of interval running, it was alright, but didn't leave me with the same sense of achievement as a LSR.

Back out on the 10k tomorrow with D1, mint.

  7. Rocking the 1.05 again on the 10k this morning, again stopping for my lungs (Si was like a machine today, even running up the hill back the car after our 'official' finishing line).

I'm putting other training on the backburner for now, gonna try and concentrate solely on the running for a bit, two 10ks a weeks, football on Mondays, and I'm gonna try and get a 5k to interval over, build up the stamina, still some way from where I wanna be ideally.

    But tis ALL good.
