back to Pau.....I really like him, but needs a dominant CB alongside him, to compliment him....to create balance.

Going back to the Villarael days, and just how damn good Torres is on the ball, I think the plan was

             Kamara

     Pau  Mings   Konsa

Mings dominates in the air, athletic and quick. There was absolutely no way he was coming out of our team without injury.

Konsa and Pau bringing the ball out, and Kamara filling in when a CB pushes forward with the ball.

If this was the plan, its unbelievable how Unai re-invented this team with 2 key components missing for most the season.

Not sure the hate towards him, Villa fans are obviously not his target audience

He has been one of the few praising us when he can this season considering some people get angry the media never talk about us

Agreed. On YouTube he is clearly farming for engagement with over the top reactions which get clipped and shared.

If you listen to his TalkSport show, he is genuinely one of the most knowledgeable pundits about all teams. He's spent most of this season bigging up Villa / Emery.

I’ve asked this numerous times, no one seems to know or they just aren’t saying.

    Its very odd.

Personal health matters are required to remain confidential, unless given explicit permission by the individual. The fact it's remained silent, might indicate something that's still a little taboo such as "mental health".

    Anyone ever tried Huel?

I use the pre made bottles (works out £2.10 a bottle if you buy from Costco). Vanilla and Chocolate are OK and taste decent. Always smoothly mixed as well.

They really help me as a meal replacement for work, or when i'm out and about, saves buying a meal deal and keeping the calories down.

I see a lot of Spurs fans not happy with Maddison at the moment.  He's done his usual start the season well, gets injured, and then ghosts the rest of the season as his team gets relegated/loses CL football.  They want him dropped for Thursday, so hopefully he starts 🤣

He's always struck me as a confidence player. A few games per season he looks an absolutely world beater, then for 10 games you barely know he's on the pitch (except for when he's crying at referees)

Is that the difference between them and us then? We're willing to gamble on more expensive players in an attempt to bridge the gap to the top teams whereas Brighton know their limits and are happy to be a stable, mid-table club that might push into the top half once in a while? Our revenues were pretty similar last year (albeit we have more room to grow given the larger supporter base, larger ground, greater potential for commercial partners etc.).

Buying Pau Torres was a no brainer and likely to work out 90% of the time.

Buying an unknown Columbian defender is likely to work out 50% of the time. If you have more losses than hits you end up being Leicester, Swansea etc and in a poorer financial situation.

I think Salah also knows his days of being a star in the Premier league are pretty much over too - he'll be looking for his retirement village contract somewhere.

Definitely. He is the highest profile Muslim player in the world. He could get more attention, endorsements and money than Ronaldo?

Thanks mate. The pictures tell their own story I think 😂 it was about 5 hours in the end so respectable at least! Hugely struggling between 16-20 but then was reinvigorated for the final 6.2 miles. The crowd were unbelievable all the way round!

Where do you think you need to be running distance wise in training to complete a marathon?

I ran 2 marathons in my early 20s on no training, but I played football 3 times a week, was 20kg lighter, 15 years younger and not shaped like a wonky potato.

I'd like to set myself a target of running one next year. 10k is about my limit at the moment.

I think if the Saudi's offered to take him off Liverpool on a free, they'd have to consider it.

The whole situation is Salah angling for a move this summer now Liverpool's season is effectively over.

Liverpool will be nowhere near the title next season, Salah knows this. He wants his 1,000,000 per week in Saudi + unlimited endorsements etc.

If you're posting £100 mil + profits year after year then maybe you can start shopping more regularly at a higher level for some of your signings

Leicester are proof, if you are a "selling club" you're only 2/3 bad transfer windows away from the top 7 to catastrophic failure no matter how much you spend. 100million + on rubbish such as Daka, Christensen, Soumare, Faes, Souttar etc was all that's needed to relegate them and leave them in FFP trouble with limited sellable assets.

Another bad transfer window this summer for Brighton, they could be heading in a similar direction.

But surely they could've tried TAA in a wingback roll playing 3 at the back someone like Tuchel or Conte might have suited.

Otherwise the TAA dilemma is still there. (unless there waiting for Alonso)

The reason he was so good a couple of seasons ago, was because in possession Henderson and Fabinho would cover or drop into the defensive right role. Therefore he looked sensational playing a wide quarter back role, with limited defensive responsibilities as they would get him out of trouble.

It's no coincidence, as they aged / were replaced with poorer players his performances dropped off and his defensive work was put under the microscope.

For TAA to get back to where he was (in this system) they need 2x Kamara type of player to slot into that right hand side CB role when in possession, therefore do the defending in transition.

  12. For all the laughs and jokes Chelsea are a young, naive yet talented team.

Apart from around 20 minutes (down to 10 men), they've outplayed us 3 games this season. We need to be really on it (crowd included) Saturday night to beat them.

But that was written before the US came in with their biggest aid bill ever. We'll see. My guess is that it depends on the election in November.

Trump (if he wins) will fly to Kyiv and Moscow. Draw a line on the map and end the war with the threat of direct American involvement if they don't.

The next few months dictates where they line is drawn.

Both would be good for them reckon, play better football than Moyes.  Be funny seeing the scousers lose Amorim to West Ham 🤣

Wouldn't be surprised if he turned down Liverpool.

Whoever goes there next is going to fail. Even our Lord and savior Unai was (unfairly) perceived to have failed after following Wenger, Moyes same after Fergie etc. Same will happen whoever follows Klopp.

  15. I normally sit in the Holte, but sat in the corner of the lower north near the Trinity as it was my sons first game.

They started many of the chants which the North stand caught onto, and in time I think will give a good full ground atmosphere. Normally, the North stand waits for a really loud Holte to get involved, whereas it was more proactive yesterday. Give it a few months I think it will be a vital bridge for a full stadium atmosphere and not just the Holte starting everything.

    Full credit, keep on going!

I don't think he'll be off anywhere. He has the power here that he obviously lacked at Arsenal, he is allowed to run the club as he sees fit and it is working. He had his fingers burned before, I'd like to think he'll stick around. He's got a genuine chance to build a legacy with us and go down as a Villa legend.

He will stay unless offered the Barca or Real Madrid job. Think that's what Guillherm Ballague said that in a podcast a few months ago.
