  1. Obviously not, but im sure the parents of the victim would. Does that not go at least someway to showing that just because the parents of the child would want his killer's hanged, that it may not necessarily be the right thing to do? What punishment would you propose?
  2. Not entirely sure what Jon having children has to do with the price of fish let alone this but I do have a child and not only that I'm about to go to work. Why am I telling you this? Because my office faces the Strand Shopping Centre in Bootle where the start of this sorry chain of events happened. I have lived and do work in the middle of all of this, where everyone has an opinion on it and mostly all share your sense of moral outrage, the ones interviewed on the telly all last week (in fact the TV vans were parked outside our office for days), most of the people interviewed, I rub shoulders with them on a daily basis. They and you are in my opinion wrong, it's that simple. The world you appear to want to live in is the stuff of dark comic books, ultimately what you all want is a caped avenger to come in and clear the streets of scum, well that can't be allowed to happen, we have a legal system and it needs to be allowed to go through its motions without the hindrance of all the emotive crap that currently surrounds these issues. So i will ask you the Bickster, god forbid, but if it was your child, what punishment would you see fit for the two of them? Just because you think my opinion is wrong doesnt mean i am. The legal system is floored, you, me and everyone who posts on here knows it. Well if you got your way, the legal system certainly would have reached the bottom but if its flawed, it flawed in way that you probably don't think it to be. You've forgot to type your answer to my question...
  3. Interesting justice system you advocate there fella! The parents/next of kin etc of the victim to decide on method of punishment for offenders ... Well instead of just mocking my posts, lets hear what your justice system would be to deal with Thompson and Venables...

  5. Obviously not, but im sure the parents of the victim would. If you tried to look at it objectively and without emotion. What do you think 'the law of the land' should say? I suppose the fact that im about to become a parent that thought of this happening to my own scares the living shit out of me. And to answer your question, the parents should decide their fate, what do you think the parents would have liked as their punishment Bof?
  6. that argument would be spot on too. So instead we release the offender back into society to re-offend and then stand there saying how the rehabilitation programme he was put on didnt work and he was allowed to roam free. The country would be a safer place for my children if scumbags like these were dealt with properly and removed. If that means the death penelty then so be it. That doesn't have to mean the death penalty, though, does it? I think it's your blood lust for hanging 10 year old boys that many on here can't get their heads around. Imprisonment, fine. Imprisonment for longer than these boys/men served, again fine. hanging 10 year old boys (and even 8 year olds as you now espose), not fine. Since when do i have a blood lust? Try reading the thread and understand im not on my own in what i beleive. I cant believe so many people try to make out that this is borderline acceptable. Let me ask you Jon, do you have children? Why can you not understand that just because people do want to kill these kids they don't think what they did is "borderline acceptable"?? I dont mean it literally, i just cant get my head round people trying to blame there upbringing and everything else as external factors as to why they did it.

  9. What if they were 6? That wasn't my second question (that was my response to you). My second question was: Take each case on its own, they were not 6 they were 10. So are you trying to say that there is an age when a hanus crime like this becomes acceptable, and the child can not be held responsible for there actions? As i said, if it can be proved that they knew what they were doing then yes they should be dealt with. Your last question, **** smoking, drinking, getting married and stopping out late...they tortured, sexually abused, mutilated and murdered a toddler.
  10. Here they are: :? I have no idea what you are saying, here. They have been held responsible. They were prosecuted, found guilty, served the term to which they were sentenced and were put on life licence (hence this one bloke going back inside). You may disagree with the sentence and the result but that doesn't mean that they have not been held responsible for what they did. If they were two 8 year olds and it could be proved that they knew what the remifications of there actions were, then yes. In answer to to your second question, how can you say hand on heart that they have been held responsible and served there time? they have pretty much got away with it.

  12. dunno about everyone else, but i know what the reason is - he shouldn't have been let out of jail in the first place. who cares what he has done now, he wouldn't have done it if he was still in jail. Under the blame culture of this country, i think the Judge/Parole Board who let him go free should be tried for this crime instead of Venables. Spot on
  13. Try telling what? I wonder whether you'd do me the courtesy of answering the questions I posed? Why? I think it goes without saying that what happened was horrific and that it would have an awful effect upon the parents of the children and the public, in general. Is your argument that it should be up to the victim (or victim's relation) to decide upon the punishment? Post the question again and i will gladly answer it. No, my arguement is that they should be held responsable for the crimes they committed, whatever the punishment.
  14. Oh...so that makes it ok then...'as you were people...they were only 10, they didnt know any better' Thats why this country is ****.
  15. Why? No one from what I've seen has said that he was right in doing what he did. I'm quite sure that everyone on here think it was a horrible crime. Just because some don't think he shoukld be sentenced to death doesn't make them a fan of him. I'm against death penalty no matter what. Doesn't exactly make me a fan of the Ted Bundy's of this world. Quite the opposite, AAMOF. To ask the mother about what she thinks is just wrong. She's not anywhere close to being able to look at this objectively. Exactly. Just because I don't agree with hanging two ten year old boys, regardless of what they did, doesn't mean I don't think what Venables did was wrong on the highest level. As I said, I'd be in favour of the death penalty in certain rare situations, i just don't see this as one of those situations. Not being funny Steve, but they have tortured and murdered a small child, if that doesnt condemn them to death then what does?
  16. Should society have a place for those keen to walk two small children to the gallows, I wonder? What if it were two eight year olds? Well, the consequences (if they were as fully aware of everything as you seem to think) were that they wouldn't get dealt with and punished in the same way as an adult, so I'm not sure what you are saying. :? If ten year olds should be treated as adults by the law (and why stop at that age - why not eight or seven or younger?), why shouldn't they be allowed to drink/smoke/drive (if they can pass a test)/marry/leave school/leave home/be left alone by their parents and do everything else that the law says that they are not mature enough to be given the legal right to do? Try telling that to James Bulgers mother or father...im sure you would very quickly be told in the most polite way possible to **** off. God forbid, but imagine if it was your own child...
  17. I dont understand the 'regardless of what they did' bit mate? Would i hang two 10 year old boys for stealing sweets...no. Would i hang two 10 year old boys for murdering and torturing a small child...hand on heart i would walk them to the gallows. Society has no place for these two individuals. That's pretty messed up dude. If you buy a puppy and you hit it and beat it and starve it and have it fight other dogs the dog will pretty quickly become agressive and dangerous. The same thing happened to these kids. If you can reprogramme them and reteach them surely that is better than just killing them and washing your hands of it? Precisely. Barbaric "Justice" FTL We are not talking about a **** puppy. Lets not walk around blind here lads with our heads up our arses. CAN YOU ALL REMEMBER WHAT THESE TWO DID TO JAMES BULGER!!! If your unaware of what they did and the extent of the brutality, pain and suffering then i suggest you research it, cause i dont buy this 'not knowing right from wrong' bullshit.
  18. I dont understand the 'regardless of what they did' bit mate? Would i hang two 10 year old boys for stealing sweets...no. 19. Steve, when you were 10, did you know that it was wrong to punch someone in the face? Did you know that you would get in trouble if you were caught punching someone? At age 10, did you know what murder was and if you commit said crime you will go to prison? At 10 years old they still knew the consequences. I certainly did know it was wrong. These kids knew it was wrong. Doesn't mean they can be held fully accountable for their actions though. Are you saying you could honestly hang two 10 year old boys, regardless of what they did? I don't think i could. You have said it yourself mate, 'these kids knew it was wrong' so yes they can be held fully accountable for their actions. So because they are 10 does it make it a lesser crime?
  20. Steve, when you were 10, did you know that it was wrong to punch someone in the face? Did you know that you would get in trouble if you were caught punching someone? 21. How the hell has this escaped the dreaded lock??? But for what its worth, the Americans are full of shit and it was actually James Milner who first set foot on the moon, not that Armstrong fella. He also invented the Slush Puppy.
  22. His pre-match meal is thought to be gruel, recent reports indicate he got a dressing down from John Robertson for asking for some more.
  23. I knew you were all along, i just thought i would play along 8)
