general,
could you pass on my best wishes to dunny please. ive been saying for the entire summer that the team who signed him would get the bargain of the season and i stand by it. i know some people on here dont rate him, but he is going to be an absolute legend for us once he settles in. yes he'll score some ogs from being the only defender in the position to throw himself at a cross, and yes he'll get sent off a few times from being the only defender in the position to get a tackle in, but hes everything we needed, and will soon be villa captain imo.
good to have a paddy in the first team once again

a solid window for me, so option 2

To 'Any dream will do'
I close my eyes,
The match is startin,
sign someone Martin,
anyone will do.
With Randy's cash,
we could sign Top class,
But you'll sign Dean Windass.
cos he's english too.
i love it

re booing: i agree completely that booing during a match is counter productive. however booing at the full time whistle is something im ok with should people decide that they want to. its not something youd ever find me doing, but i can completely understand why others who have paid good money to be there do it
re: sacking mon... any change in manager now would be silly. we're close enough to the transfer window closing that at the VERY LEAST mon should get til christmas without question (not including finding ourselves in the bottom 5 come mid-october). a change of manager in late august/early september isnt ideal. while it worked for spurs i dont think its something that any club would aim for. perhaps a december 1st re-evaluation of how things are going would be a safer bet. if its still looking ropey, bring someone in early in december, give them 3 weeks to suss out the team in training and decide who they want to bring in, then let them have the january window. failing that, give mon til the end of the season... i strongly doubt even the most pessimistic of fans could forseee a relegation battle on our hands, and if thats not the case, but we're still poor, then letting him go til the end of the season would be fine
of course we might all of a sudden turn it around, play majestic football, and find ourselves top of the league come january, so its just pie in the sky really

its not cuellar im overly-concerned about, its davies tbh

when speaking of any hypothetical replacement, people seem to forget that mon has build the foundation and a new manager wouldnt need to do that again. theyd just need to bring a different take to the table. you could arguably say that the REALLY hard work has been done, and now we just need fresh ideas from the manager (mon or otherwise)
What foundation? The defence is far worse than the day O'Neill arrived. There's hard work to be done because O'Neill has made such an arse of it.
He inherited Delaney, Mellberg, Laursen, Ridgewell, Cahill, Samuel and Bouma.
Today we had Beye, Cuellar, Davies and Shorey.
Delaney > Beye
Mellberg > Cuellar
Laursen > Davies
Samuel > Shorey
Cahill > Davies
even Ridgewell > Davies
The only defender that O'Neill has bought that has given any value is Luke Young.
im not for one second suggesting that the defence isnt a mess, but while im far from mons biggest fan you have to accept that we have some excellent players at the club. ones who could no doubt play some really great football if the system was right. thats what i mean by foundation. its not a "tear it all down and start again" scenario

if the dressing room is gone, then the manager should follow
doesnt matter who the manager is, or who the club is, once that line is crossed theres no going back
of course thats not to say the dressing room is gone
-
no, but not for the reason suggested with the no option
him and petrov stunted us last season. despite being an excellent player for us (and despite some around here seemingly forgetting that), the two of them in the middle didnt really work for us

How was that not a free kick for Carew!

China is the largest country with a single time zone.
Technically that's not right!
What is the technicality?
i cant figure that one out either... unless the internet is wrong (god forbid) the whole country operates in gmt+8
Who is better... A. Young or Milner?
