Which is why noises of a new striker have me wondering...
We have enough fire power in the side if they're on it.
What we don't have is a fluid playing style or any strong indication the manager knows how to set up an attacking PL side.
I think we do, but it boils down to consistency. For all of the above.
I don’t put any stock in rumours tbh. Been there, done that.

I mean Christ, Bertie T was getting minutes up front towards the back end of last season. There’s minutes for Archer.

Arsenal don't have a decent forward at the moment. Nketiah is i think their only current option... I think they'd take them both, but they'd hope to find better in the market before going there.
Sure, I’m not saying they *would* sign them because they’re not fancy enough names. And they’re not available, as far as I know. But they are absolutely better than what they have now, in Arsenals case by a lot.

Is this really true?! Arsenal who attracted Aubameyang and Lacazette and Chelsea with Lukaku and Havertz would prefer Watkins and Ings. I think you are on your own there mate!
How are those players working out for them, mate?
Edit: I’ve since noticed you’ve slipped a player who isn’t even a striker in there. Bizarre.

Agree. Our third striker can be Archer or even Davis. Strikers are the most expensive position to buy. We have two good premier league forwards. We have other areas that are more important to strengthen.
Not only that but I think it’s probably a bit fanciful to expect the board to be willing to go out and burn another £50m on a striker when the current pair cost the best part of £60m plus a **** of wages between them and are both proven Premier League goal scorers.

Because you cant score goals and improve when you sat on the bench
I’ve answered that already in the second half of the post you quoted. If we sign another striker and don’t move one of the existing two on then sure. Otherwise we need him, and there will be game time I’m sure. We can then reassess in January.

Arsenal would kill to have Watkins and Ings up front. Chelsea too. Never mind another 10-15 Premier League clubs.
The gaffer has to get at least one of them firing on all cylinders next season.

I am ruling out Mane and Ronaldo even though they are in that transfer fee budget. To move forward we need to move to the next level of striker. It is naive thinking that adding more of the same quality will move us forward
I highly doubt there’s a striker available to us that is clearly better than Ings and Watkins, never mind two. It was a frustrating season for both, but I have come to believe it’s the one area of the pitch, maybe centre half now too, where Gerrard should be grateful for such fantastic options relative to the competition.

I'd rather he stayed with us and targeted 10 goals, start the season 3rd choice end the season 2nd choice or even 1st
We're sat here with not a fat lot of confidence in our 2 main strikers and then a youngster no doubt chomping at the bit, he must see what an opportunity there is right in front of him
Sending him out on loan and buying a new £50m first choice striker will do him no favours, if he's ever going to be put first choice I feel like it's this year or it won't happen, I also feel like he at least looks like he's doing his part to make that happen we just need to give him the opportunity
Ings and Watkins had disappointing seasons for various reasons. Injuries, babies, Watkins dad was sacked mid way through. The form of both improved immensely towards the end and when on the pitch together they finally looked to be building an understanding. They’ll be given another run out. So unless we’re getting an absolutely stone wall banker of a striker in, what’s the point?
If Archer as 3rd choice can give you 15-20 appearances with a handful of starts and 3/4 goals, that’ll do way more for his development than a loan to Luton. If he manages to oust one of the other two, or we go through a period like both did last Christmas where neither are performing, maybe he will grasp his shot. He looks capable to me.

It was, but that’s the one area of his game I have the least concern about. Sometimes strikers go through periods and seasons where nothing goes right for them. They won’t give up on Ings after one season, I’m confident of it.

Would send him back to Preston. See if he can score 15-20 Championship goals
He has already shown that he’s perfectly capable of doing so, why does he need to show it again?
If we think it’s better for his development because game time will be limited, fair enough, but he has nothing to prove to us at that level.- 1

We often play with 2 strikers. So we need at least 3.
I suspect that unless the right player becomes available who is clearly an improvement on what we have, which will be hella difficult to find given our relative position, Archer is about to hit the jackpot.

Why are you trying to sell me West Ham cast offs?

Well we are in the exact same situation, we still only have one left back especially with Digne returning late for pre season training
Precisely as you predicted then when you said we would be left with a player returning to us and no benefit from the initial loan deal.
It's ok to say fair play, I got that one wrong guys. People respect it, I find.

That wasn't the issue but believe it if you want
The issue was giving away a capable left back for practically nothing and assisting a rival who then finished above us. Left back is now returning to us and we got no benefit from the deal. Especially when Digne was missing a few games
How has this worked out for you?

Leaving side the mind numbing waffle about the financial package that literally not a single person in here has any knowledge of whatsoever, the reason he’s leaving is that he’s not as good as Digne at football.

There may have been a clause included with the loan deal.

The club probably didn’t want to spend a couple of months haggling over a couple of million when our entire MO this summer has been to move forward as quickly as possible, even if that means it cost a few quid here and there.
We can argue the merits of that, but the strategy is clear.

Can't believe he got a start for France tonight ahead of Matt Targett. I'm writing a letter to my MP.

If Villa do well then Critchley is the second messiah, if Villa do badly then it’s obviously all Gerrards fault.
People will laugh at this but this is exactly what happened with Beale. He has somehow managed to walk away with his reputation completely untouched, perhaps even enhanced.
Critchley is in a win-win situation here.

Summer Transfer Window 2022

I appreciate that for a man of your intelligence this may be a challenge to grasp, so I will lay it out as succinctly as I can for you.
I believe they are better than their current striker options. That does not mean I think we are a better team overall.
