Can anyone tell me how this season will differ from 16/17?

Back then we sacked our manager on the 3rd October, had an amazing attack for this level on paper but they underwhelmed most weeks and we had a lack of quality in midfield and at the back.

We were still in touch for the play offs for a bit but no one was convinced and think we ended up 15 or so points off 6th in the end.

Unless the new manager hits the ground running I think this season will repeat that.

The manager did hit the ground running and by the new year, we were 6 points behind playoffs. Bruce then bought a good number of players and try to force them into a system they weren't ready for and we went on a really bad run in January and February. Hopefully, this manager will be a bit smarter and gels the team that we have that is more than capable than going up.

We don't get that,  a run of draws yes.

I don't think the top of the table is going to be high on points this season, not like last anyway, so it may be very possible to pull a comeback off this season.

After seeing bruce like this he does need to be gone, if he can't get us in the premier league, he certainly can't keep us in it let alone make a run for the title there. We need an ace of a new manager and finding that kind of guy is going to be tough.

Come on owners Bruce needs to sort it or be gone cus I'm fed up and sick and tired of this crap now, I want the new guy installed asap so things can be underway, I'll even take Thierry Henry if I have too but would prefer JT..

I'm not saying Bruce will or won't do it but to say the season is over with  us being  6 points behind the leaders with over 75% of the games left is extremely pessimistic, Bruce has shown even with his dire football can put on a good run, but he surely must be short on time.
The stuff we are doing right now is dire and something needs to be said by the owners or the CEO. Either back him or sack him because we are going around in circles right now and it is terrible to watch.

Season is already a write off :(

I disagree. If we went on a winning run of 8 to 10 games we would be in the top two. Fulham showed last year what could be down with a run of results even at Christmas time.

  4. He is doing okay and that is from someone who supports him more than most on here. We have garnered more points that this time last year but the performances are very much the same. The team is turning out some turgid stuff while under his supervision. While we are winning or not losing too many the majority of the fans will support him, but if he loses a few that he is expected to win and I believe it could be the start of the end. It started this week even though it was only the cup.

He has been given enough time now to have the team at least play cohesively no matter the result. I know he has bought in more new players and it will take them a little to settle,  but this spin cycle can't continue. He has come up with similar excuses about his teams under performing for him, if I was the manager I would be seriously worried. The team showed against Wolves they can play, he needs to start getting more of those performances.

If I was the owner of the club and kept hearing my manager say the team isn't performing as the he expected, then I would be looking for a new manager.

I still have faith in Bruce but it is waning, not because I'm not happy with the position, but I'm just not inspired by his words much anymore.

Just one point......A number 9 doing his job.......will change the face of our team alone.

It will bring in the midfield and subsequently alleviate pressure on the defence.

I hear all the arguments of Strikers needing service and they do ......BUT they have to help themselves too. Its arguably the hardest position on the pitch.....they sometimes need to remind us.

I like Kodjia when he is firing......but he is an inside forward for me who plays off a big man......He hasn't got the natural aggression of say Costa, who can give as good as he gets....He would be ok playing off Duncan Ferguson and the like.

I see a problem for us there at present.....and I think further more its affecting the whole team.

I agree @TRO, a big number nine is needed, Kodjia can't hold the ball up the way we need him to and often goes missing. Who do you think we could get who might do it?

Why do you see it differently ?

I don't know the truth and I'm not going to make one up to suit an agenda. You could well be right, but neither of us know. What we do know is there is mutual respect between the two.

The only reason we have Jack ( thankfully ) is because we now have owners who can't be bullied by the likes of Levvy - nothing to do with Bruce and I certainly agree with part of your post

    Did they tell you that?

Bruce did everything he possibly could to **** it up today.

CB at RB, DM at CB e.t.c.

He really has the players to thank for bailing him out here.

Did they not put him in it also?
