Why is their fool of a leader on the Beeb?

    Because it fills the time?

It appears that whatever the BBC do they are annoying someone by putting too much scrutiny/too little scrutiny/too much Micael Portillo/too little Michael Portillo/too much coverage/too little coverage/stopping a repeat of Open All Hours to have a political programme, etc, etc.

I would guess hazard a guess that whoever wins/loses this election won’t be able to thank/not thank the BBC for it. Of all the broadcasters out there, they appear to me to do a pretty good job.

She has to face some of the public on the question time special in a couple of weeks. But I don't trust the BBC in any way not to fill the audience with sycophants.

Its funny how the Tories think the BBC is left leaning and Labour think the opposite. Not sure what the Lib Dems think.

  3. Just spent a happy few days running in Cornwall; hard work with all the up and down, but nice not to think I have to do it in x or y... Did an FTP on the bike; sadly the cycling fitness is piss poor now. Less than a month from riding Ventoux and no two ways I am going to suffer.

  4. Time ticking... Last training run done, nothing more to be done, just good sleep, good food, hydration, no booze, etc. If you see a guy with extreme pronation wearing a Fulham top in Manchester come and say hello!

You're looking good mate. Your quick runs are very quick.

I'll have my mobile for a while before the start so if you're around I'll say hello.

For me it's been a bit of a challenge. Done the training almost to the letter but don't feel any quicker and the long distance runs don't seem to get any easier. I'll personally go with the 3.30 pacer and see what happens. A lot may depend on what my left knee decides to do. At London it didn't niggle at all. Ashby 20 I was hobbling from 15 miles.

Good luck for Sunday. I've decided to completely rest up now to give some rest to a sore chest and blisters.

Thanks for that DM; Sure you will be good on the day as long as you don’t go out too fast. I think with the training often it doesn’t get easier, but you end up doing more and quicker. Of course a marathon always involves a degree of luck, so I will be chanting good wishes to you as I cross the start line!

  6. Literally days away. Feel in reasonable shape, somewhere between 3.15-3.20 and I will be happy. Will go out reasonably and then started to wind it up if I can. Been a pretty good training cycle, a few days off here and there through niggles and illness. Not trained as hard as Brighton, but feel better for it and definitely know what to expect. Ran a 20 at 7.30 pace a few weeks and it was hard, but not impossible.

As long as I don’t disgrace myself in front of Crammy’s mate:)

  8. Its a weird one, because a marathon/half marathon are very much 26 miles and a bit, 13 miles a bit, yet we run 5km/10km (which is a pity as the 10 mile which is rarely run is an hour effort). The mile is still one of the iconic records to hold, does anyone care about the 1000 metres??

I am in a strange half way house; I think in kgs, yet I really worry about my mile pace!?!? And then when I am racing in France in the mountains I always have to change everything over as trying to convert in your head is really hard after 150 km of riding and 4000 metres ascended!!!

We are bottom half of the Championship and Hutton has found his level. We as a club are better than that and him. He doesn't do anything that you wouldn't expect of a player of thus level. We want more though.

No. We want to be better than where we are, but we have to get to the next level which seems to be causing more teeth gnashing, money and trouble than we thought so we might as use him. Offer him a new contract? No, because he’s on a massive whack knowing Villa and that money could be used better elsewhere. But I am not going to cut my nose to spite my face at the moment.

  10. Quote

Whelan told BBC Radio 4’s Today programme: “I do wonder, shall we ask ourselves the question: ‘How bad would it have been if we didn’t have Jeremy?’ That’s the question we should be asking ourselves.”

I just couldn’t believe that when I read that. The delusion of some people.

Whatever persuasion for a healthy democracy you need a decent opposition. I just don’t see Corbyn being that.

  11. Just finished it as well. Took a week to watch, but fascinating throughout. I was living in America when it all happened, and it brought back so many memories. Have to admit it was very hard to watch at times, and even now I feel for the victims, who got lost in the circus. Time certainly hasn’t healed these wounds.

    Thoroughly recommended.

  12. If you want to get faster, do intervals. The tendency if you run at one pace is that is all you can do, so anywhere where you stress the body for a period is good, as long as you have sufficient time to recover in-between, and then allow enough time to recover (this time should be shorter than the interval). The problem about these kind of workouts is they carry a greater risk of injury, but offer a greater reward in terms of fitness.

Try a Parkrun as well, a great way to measure progress. Also whenever you run ‘competitively’ you just become faster as the adrenaline flows.

  13. Goes to prove the point; everyone is different.

The question is could your performance be improved by rolling, etc. And ice baths. And Beetroot juice. And Chia seeds, etc, etc:)

That seems like a bit of an understatement. There have been and are all sort of "challenges", many of which seem to be pretty unique - in part because of the nature of the thing. A 3 variant single platform  (with carrier and VSTOL versions as well as the basic Conventional version) that's supposed to replace a range of current aircraft a varied as A10 tankbusters and F16 fighters, while also being stealthy and self diagnostic.

But none of that is much to so with baby eating, so er, probably best leave it there.

Time to resurrect the TSR 2?;)

(any good physio should be able to analyze it)

And this is one of the great problems for us all; finding a good physio. If you do stick with them!

And strengthening is the real friend of all runners, most of us have imbalances and we need to work on them.

  16. Could be any manner of things; over training, going too hard, not being warmed up, not stretching in between runs. Most people I know consider a warm up, starting the first 10 minutes or so at an easy pace, maybe with some drills. Others just go for it. Always important to remember everyones different and reacts to training differently.  One things for sure if something feels strange, its trying to tell you something!

Anyone on Strava might be interested in the update of https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/stravistix-for-strava/dhiaggccakkgdfcadnklkbljcgicpckn?hl=en

If you use a HRM it will give you an idea of the stress your training is giving you, and how recovered you are.
