  1. It's hilarious the way people assume things (all that conjecture). I'm a bit gutted because I've lost money, if I had won the money I was going to put a little bit on us to get relegated next season too. OGS was exciting because it could have been inspired, but it might have gone terribly too. Just look at Ianrobo on astonnewsviews making out it was a done deal for a week and tweeting every few minutes saying the same things, some of these reactions are delerious considering all anyone can really go on regarding OGS's ability to manage Villa is a youtube video made by MUFC and one season managing Molde.

I really liked this option with OGS but why go mental at Randy because he's not going to be the manager? We only know about OGS because of the whole plane thing - and that's quite amazing, the way the whole thing escalated from a poster on villatalk - why do some people always have to find a scape-goat? Bit of patience maybe.

  2. I know he's not. But it shouldn't just be about the name . Some unknown Norwegian who had achieved what he has, and of similar qualifications, ask yourself how you would feel then. The name should be irrelevant, it was for Mcleish

Richard - bollocks - he is NOT unknown, he is NOT inexperienced in the Prem or in English football.

Ask yourself if it was Lauresen or Mellberg with NO managing experience in England what would you say then?

I wish I'd said all that.

Richard is sounding a bit patronising.

Are you struggling with the way the world works? He is OGS, the guy from Man U - of course that makes an impact on the hype. It's been said, I think most people are aware this is a risk, but at least it is an exciting risk regarding someone with an attacking football philosophy and not a shit risk like they got involved in by hiring McLeish.

    Chill out?

  4. Wigan had a better squad than us and only just escaped relegation because Martinez gambled the house on 3-4-3 and it paid off.

Why he is such an attractive prospect for many is just plain wierd.

    Oh please do elaborate

    This should be good

Our squad is so shit. There's not much difference I'd say. Maybe theirs has more balance too. So shit.

  5. Sorry but I appreciate Clark, Herd and Warnock will be playing in midfield, but's that not the point. None of them are attacking players who will pose any genuine threat to an Albion side who have kept a lot of clean sheets recently.

We are playing three attack-minded players. THREE. Who between them have ONE goal since November. **** me.

Clark scored a few goals from midfield last year.

It's not ideal but the squad is a bit shit. Apart from Weimann and Ireland it's hard to see any other changes and maybe they're not fit.

  6. Makoun looks classy to me. I don't get how anyone could moan about those short passes - some of them were impressively incisive. At least now all our CM's can play FOOTBALL (a-hem...NRC).

    Quality player.

  7. Well there are other players out there but for £10 million, he's proven in the Premiership which is vital because we know he can perform at this level consistently, scores goals, makes goals, quick and direct and a good age. Put him down to a 5 year contract and we'll get at least 3 years out of him before selling him on (if that's the case) for a good price. Not arguing, his temperament is a little wayward but he's been linked with clubs for a year now, could have gone in January etc....didn't really effect his game.

We've lost two vital games, I think we need to buy someone we know who will deliver and has done before in the Prem.

It's true that losing out on our first choice replacement for the sake of £1m does have a whiff of cutting off our nose to spite our face, but dagnabbit it's the principle of the matter!

Mind you, who am I to argue about principles? I spent most of yesterday staring at Emma from Marketing's cracking tits whilst she was giving a very important presentation on the new communications framework and for the life of me I can't remember any salient points from the meeting (well, except for the obvious two).

    :?

  8. let's keep kidding ourselves.

Martinez wasn't even interested in speaking to us, **** me!!

Bet the players are really looking forward to next season, bet downing has got his pen ready to sign a new deal.

We are looking a right shambles in the press.

Blame the press for that one. You do come across as someone who pays too much attention to what you read/hear in the press. Am I allowed to say that? No offence. Just because the media are doing their usual tripe doesn't mean the club are not going about this properly.

  9. What a joke.. absolute joke.. cover it up all you like..but he rejected the job. We may have not offered, yet he rejected even wanting the chance to offer.. whether we offered it or not is relevant. A 37 year old Wigan Manager.. rejected the Aston Villa job.

Job will now go back to McLaren. What a farce this club has become. He is the only one desperate enough to come.

Meanwhile in other news.. we let our best player go for the third season running. Bye Ash. Ugh......

    Heres the melt down.

    Well done Aston Villa FC.

Or it shows his loyalty to Wigan - Whelan stood by him all season - the last two seasons - and gave him his chance in the prem. They have a close relationship and it would be a bit of a dick thing to do to abandon ship after all the support he has been given. He has just formed his own team at Wigan and is only 37. It's not unbelievable that him staying at Wigan has nothing to do with Villa at all.

So get off your high horse. Mysteryman on H&V said the meltdown specifically referred to Moyes but that he doesn't know what happened with that. Everton might have just said 'no' you can't talk to him. Whether it's not the most ruthless method or whatever it seems Villa are behaving with respect to other clubs. I don't mind that. I'd rather that than to support some soulless dickhead club. Still be nice to have a manager though.

  10. No I'm sorry his win ratio is 26%, Martinez not good enough, time to make your voices heard again - go abroad Randy owners in other countries have played in the Premier League or some serious questions regarding your ownership of the club will be asked.

    No to Martinez.

Anyone who gets thumped 9-1 8-0 and 6-0 in a short space of a year is simply not good enough.

    26% AT WIGAN.

Can we not go through all this moaning shit again. Fair play on here but the point is to support the team - AND whoever is in charge. I can't hack the thought of going through all that bullshit again.

  11. I like it. Didn't he have to work on more of a budget than Bruce at Wigan, hence them not being as good? Am I clutching at straws or **** right.

A young up and coming manager who has a good football philosophy. Some of the bigger names might simply be out of our reach - simple as that. We just lost our biggest name manager and this might just be the best decision we could make. Face facts. Martinez could build something here over time.
