  1. Just watching the Emery interview, his style of speaking is very intentional. He kinda rolls most sentences up into a crescendo but watching him talk about Villa and his love for football, you see that beaming smile that cannot be faked.

I know we’ve been a bit starved of content but this thread is mental. Dean Smith was definitely a proper coach and even if Gerrard was hands off, he had enough staff taking training for him. They’ve not just been running laps for the last year.

Just think we might be in danger of getting a little overexcited…

Correct me if I'm wrong but Unai Emery is unbeaten as Aston Villa manager.

Not a lot of first team coaches out there can say that right now!

That's if he doesn't go to the World Cup. Hopefully he's around and not in Qatar

From what Danks said - he's still not on the grass with the squad. WC is 3 weeks on Sunday, I can't see him making it. Thankfully one place France are doing alright is midfield.

Wrap him in cotton wool and sit him down in Emery's office for the next month!

And many pundits and media were baffled as to how he lost some of the players… FFS 🤦🏻‍♂️!

The guffawing and sheer unimaginable inability for Gerrard to be successful has caught his media buddies out big time. Every one of them has to preface it with their surprise or hard feelings.

He'll be collecting Qatari cheques with Keys and Gray soon enough.

A don’t mean to sound like a dick but surely if he was so desperate to get to Villa Park for a game once in his lifetime and he’s such a big fan then he could on his own means?

A round trip with flights, accommodation and tickets would knock him back less than £1000.  It’s a lump sum but given his love for Villa and it’s a one off then it’s reasonable.

I mean most of us are paying £600-800 a year every year for our season tickets plus travelling costs anyway and the average Joe won’t be much worse or better off than him.

I know he’s putting effort in to do the show but seems to be a bit of cheek for the cash, maybe it’s because I’m not a fan of his but if he’s so desperate to get to Villa Park I just don’t get why he can’t as a one off, one year during the time he’s been a Villa fan so far or in the future.  Am I wrong?

You're applying some very UK centric pricing to this. You never know what other people are living through. Like myself, he lives in one of the most expensive housing markets on earth. I'd like to fly home to see my family but European flights are eye wateringly expensive. Particularly when the average 1 bedroom apartment is $2200/month and doubling per room.

I think it's churlish to quiz anyone's financial resources.

Nah he knew  exactly what he was doing.  Anyway he is cancelled. Feel free to watch him if you like. Free country. But I wont because he is a right wing crazy.

I'd be embarrassed too. Bye hun x

He said his whiskey was as Canadian as freedom loving truckers as he toasted the screen.

I caught the tail end of the Nazi talk bleeding into the latter pages and simply had to find the nexus. The glass raise was a complete pisstake - it was an Alberta Rye whiskey. Alberta, by an absolute distance is the home of the Canadian knuckle dragging cousin f**king redneck - though there is so much more to the province than that. It is the Texas of Canada (resource stripping oil loving conservative province). The lead protesters mostly came from there - Tamara Lich is from Medicine Hat, AB and through the nonsensical Wexit wanted AB to secede from Canada, Jason LaFace of Canada Unity stated their intended goal was to dissolve the federal government, very Canadian!

The "convoy" and protest  wasn't limited to snarling the nations capitol either. A border crossing in Coutts, Alberta was blockaded. Ultimately this did somewhere between $5-8bn CAD of damage to the economy. These people did nothing but harm to Canada.

It was quite literally a joke that went directly over your head. The dude even lives in the Lower Mainland (Vancouver area) of BC. The greenest, most bulls**t-left leaning part of Canada on the liberal West Coast. This one flew right over your head.

Not surprising that people didn't like him as a person, the man was a Phil Collins fan who liked to socialise with major drug traffickers.

Antonio's most likely source is probably Bailey which is fair enough.

Now it's just another day in paradise for us.

I think he just wants to play to be honest. He had a decent run of games when Gerrard came and our form was decent and so was his.

And then the Coutinho project started and he never started 2 games in a row again.

    Worst. Band. Ever!

  10. Changing captain again and especially mid season smacks of dressing room disharmony, but given it is done under a fresh slate, maybe it isn't as negative as it feels from the outside?

Emery hasn't said a word but all the rumours about scouting, application and so on. Feels good man.

  11. The irony of how narrow SG put out his team is that many of the players mentioned (Pino aside) are all through the spine of the team :D

Pau Torres would be on another level. I just can't see it happening. If we raid Villareal (which will be incredibly expensive) then I'd imagine it'll only be one of Pino, Danjuma, Chukwueze, or Torres. They'll see the money bags coming a mile off.

I'd like to see a deal done for Jonathan David but I think he's more likely to end up in a top 4 side/European CL contenders.

I'm kind of excited about the players no one has mentioned, or that we even know about. Emery must have a couple gems in mind that he has not had to bank balance for.

  12. Darren Farley - is it old lads who find this funny or something? I feel like because he got a few laughs at after dinner speech gigs, we now have to stomach his muck. He needs putting on the blacklist.

So genuine question, who would be a useful pick up from LaLiga?

For a start, shall we take Pau Torres, Chukwueze and Danjuma? 😁

That's a close to 200m euro shopping spree. Pau Torres has been with Villareal for 20 years, he's from the town - most of the European big hitters have tried and failed to prize him from there.

  14. I find pundits talking ad nauseum about how PL league is "the best league in the world" a bit OTT and yes, while the standard is generally higher so are the revenues.

Ultimately though you just have to cast your eyes at the string of managers operating in the PL now. This has to be highest standard of football coaches ever assembled in a football league. That's also allowing for Poch, Tuchel and Ancelotti leaving in recent memory

  16. Small side benefit to Emery (or Poch) is their language skills. Emery was never a polished English speak per se but the Villa Brazilian and Argentine contingent will really benefit from a native speaker - yes I know they speak Portugese in Brazil, but our lot are completely fluent in Spanish too. Communication is key and while the working language will always be English, when you need to really talk to some one, it can only occur in a language they are truly at ease with.
