  1. Yeah, I've been using it. It's good, but I'm not sure how completely accurate it is as it always seems to think I've done further than when I map it out on google maps or whatever.

  2. I'm training for the half marathon and have been doing so for nearly 4 weeks now. I'm pretty comfortable doing around 4 miles at the moment.

I'm finding that my breathing/stamina is ok and I think I could go on for quite a bit further than 4 miles. However, my legs disagree. I guess working on strengthening them in the gym might accelerate my progress?

With attending the cricket and football getting in the way, I didn't run from last Saturday through to Wednesday this week. When I went out on Wednesday I barely got a mile before my ankles and legs were giving me serious grief, like it was my first ever run. It the end I had to stop, at which point they felt even worse, throbbing away.

I went out last night and did 4 miles without a problem. It was almost as if I had to get rid of the cobwebs on the Wednesday, having had a whole 4 days off!

Is this normal for somone fairly new to this, like me?

  3. I like to think I'm pretty 'up' on the vast majority our players going back to reserve / older youth teams and I know of some of the younger kids, but when I walked into the ground I didn't recognise any of our players warming up. They turned out to be the subs, but even when they announced the starting lineup there were 3 guys I'd never heard of and another who's name I knew, but not a lot else! Said player (Bradley - right mid) had a decent 2nd half.

To be honest the memories I'll take from that game were the shocking 'tackle' on Gary Gardner by the midget and taking the piss out of their goalies voice as he sounded like his balls haven't dropped yet when shouting out to his teamates!

  4. Is the kick off definitely 19:30? I've seen it down as that on OS, BBC and Sky but Wikipedia (I know not the most reliable source) has it down as 21:30 with the other semi at 19:30.

I've not watched either of the previous games so I'm abandoning plans for tomorrow evening so I can watch this one.

  5. I went last night. It wasn't great.

For their first goal Curits wasn't even looking at the ball, he just had hold of the striker he was marking. That was the guy who nodded the ball into the net. Their second goal came about from more poor defending and the guy just smashed it into the bottom corner.

Sidwell had a decent game and capped it with a another goal, arriving in the box and finishing low left footed. Our second goal was comedy, I thought it was an OG but looks like McGurk tapped it over the line. It all happened so quickly so will have to see it again, but it's safe to say their keeper and centre half contrived to gift us an equaliser.

As has already been said it's all about fitness at this stage and I think only 3, maybe 4 of these players will start the first game of the season.

  6. I take it the likes of Young, Heskey, Petrov and Carew will be available for tomorrow night??

MON said they won't be considered for tomorrow cause they only returned to training today.

Hi colchestermad - welcome! I'm going to be driving to the game from Brum tomorrow so where would you suggest parking? I've read there are a number of local businesses that let you park on their premises (for a fee obviously) like you find near most grounds. Is that the best bet? Do you think they'll be available tomorrow?

I've driven passed the ground a couple of times whilst working in the area....it's quite close to the A12 isn't it?!?!

  7. Inter milan midfielder Patrick Vieira has denied reports that he could join Birmingham City.

The 33-year-old former Arsenal man was said to be in discussions with the Premier League newcomers this week, but he says he wants to hold talks with Inter before making any decisions.

"They say I've had contact with Birmingham City but, with all due respect for that club, this is not the case," he told L'Equipe.

"What is certain is that I will get back with Inter and that I will take a look at my future with the bosses."

Meanwhile, Lyon advisor Bernard Lacombe has suggested the club could make a move for the France star.

"We could be attracted by Viera," he said in France Football.

"However, with the departures of Juninho, Karim Benzema and Keita, we have other priorities at this point."

  8. It's funny how lifting silverware feels so good, even at this reserve level ;)

Too right! Me and my mate were having a bit of a laugh over the time they took to build the stage and were thinking it was a bit OTT....but when they lifted that trophy with the fireworks and ticker tape going off around them it was class!

    Up The Villa!!
