  1. Pitifully few players who played tonight actually deserve to play in the Premiership.

Clark, Bennett, Delph, Bannan simply are not good enough and never will be at this level. I've supported Clark and Bannan for a while but this is the last straw. Joe Bennett was absolutely appalling. Not one redeeming moment in 90 minutes. I'm seething with his performance.

Lowton, Baker, Weimann and Benteke may have a future. But none are going to be unbelievable.

We need a massive January to stay up. Paul and Randy have to realise this,

  2. My mates ask me "who the hell is that player?" when they are forced to see Villa with me and sometimes I have to concentrate to name him myself, be it Westwood, Stevens or Bennett. From Shay Given to Brad Guzan, Richard Dunne to Nathan Baker, Ashley Young to Brett Holman, James Milner to Barry Bannon, Gareth Barry to Kieran Westwood, Stewart Downing to an out of position Agbonlahor and now ousting Darren Bent as well.

To be fair, I'd probably be as peeved as you if I thought we had replaced James Milner with Sunderland's second choice 'keeper.

  3. Thought Benteke, Lowton and Guzan were all good.

    Clark and Baker did enough.

I think the disparity between Westwood and Bannan's performance is being exaggerated on here a bit. Bannan also put in two quality deliveries for Clark and Baker to miss.

Lichaj mehhh. Holman works hard but lacks the touch final ball to play that far forward. Ireland should have started - Holman's work rate would have been more useful later on.

Agbonlahor was alright. Weimann should have scored. He is better than that performance. His movement is good but I feel he is being shoehorned into this role. Albrighton was absolutely infuriatingly dreadful.

Robert Snodgrass - then at Livingston, now at Norwich City (Premier League) and current/recent Scotland international.

Is 6 full internationals from a u19 youth team that bad a return? Considering the three that play in the Premiership are pretty well established players.

I know Scotland got to the final, but it was a slightly bizarre tournament in the sense that it was hardly Europe's elite there. No France, Italy, Germany, Netherlands, Russia, England etc. Obviously these teams failed to qualify. But in qualification Scotland finished second (behind Switzerland) in the original stage and then pipped France to qualification by drawing with them in the final game.

Then, in the tournament, they only won two games. One group game against Turkey and the semi-final against the Czech Republic.

For comparisons sake I looked at the other international squads from that tournament and how many many future full internationals played. Portugal had 1, Poland 3, Spain 4, Turkey, 4, Austria 4, Czech Republic, 5, Belgium 6.

So in fact, Scotland's youth team has so far produced the joint most amount of full internationals (although one of course represents New Zealand!).

  5. What constitutes an invasion?

Like could we invade the remaining 22 just to say we've done it.

Just fly in, land, and say

    "Haha we've invaded!

j/k j/k you can keep it"

cross that one off, which way to Chad?

A pretty loose definition of 'invasion' was used!

Defined as "the British were found to have achieved some sort of military presence in the territory – however transitory – either through force, the threat of force, negotiation or payment. Incursions by British pirates, privateers or armed explorers have also been included, provided they were operating with the approval of their government."

Here is the article if you are interested http://www.telegraph.co.uk/history/9653497/British-have-invaded-nine-out-of-ten-countries-so-look-out-Luxembourg.html

I'm a bit miffed we never had a pop at Uzbekistan. Sounds like a great Friday night.

  6. Yeah, I had a little look on BlueMoon and they seemed absolutely baffled by the "sick chants" accusation. Although a few admitted they didn't join in the 19th minute clap cos they didn't know what on earth was happening, they said everyone applauded when Petrov was mentioned at half-time. They seem to be blaming United fans for the rumour. Nothing to see here, move along.

  7. Don't understand why we are helping Holloway out again (as we did with bannan a few years back) after his remarks about our club when we were linked with Charlie Adam!

Hopefully this will have soemthing to do with a first crack at Matty Phillips when he becomes available?

Good to see Nathan getting a brace. I hope he starts to deliver on his supposed potential and earns the opportunity to get a crack at VP or, if nothing else, makes himself more valuable for a sale!

Matty Phillips has been pretty average this season, mate! Was on the bench yesterday. Tom Ince is the player they're most excited about over there.

  8. 0 goals 0 assists so far under lambert

That includes 6 pre season games & tranmere

Who do you think got the assist for Herd's goal against Tranmere then :?. Your perpetual vendetta against Ireland is so boring, it hurts.

  9. Tariff. Again, it's the old English thing of where the double letters should be put. I always used to struggle with necessary too until somebody on here made it into an acronym for me. Never eat celery eat sausage sandwiches and remain young if you were wondering.

Ahhhh, 'necessary'. My spelling nemesis until I was taught the 'one coffee, two sugars' mnemonic.

  10. Sat in the upper Holte and didn't hear N'Zogbia getting booed at all? Maybe a few groans the second time he dribbled it off the pitch though!

A comfortable win albeit against poor opposition. Bannan did alright. I think a few posters here are too quick to criticise him. He can be a frustrating player but he always wanted the ball and played a few incisive passes. Ireland played well. Baker deserves a mention too, in my opinion. I'm not jumping to a conclusion, but at the moment I feel Baker could be the type of player who will boss the lower leagues but find some of the football and movement at the highest level a bit too much.

  11. Grant Holt has handed in a transfer request. A bit out of the blue, wonder if he has another club lined up.

Admittedly this is a rumour (and I can't remember if there's rules about posting such like?)

Yet, a fairly reliable source, informs me that allegedly Holt is not happy his best mate Tierney got dropped. Tierney was dropped for allegedly porking Steve Morison's missus. Thus Holt's ultimatum was Morrison or me. And hence his transfer request.

    Allegedly.

    Gossip.

Oh right. Thanks for clearing that up.
