Baileys shot was going out for a throw in there but encouraging move

Hopefully the Villa fans give these cheating scumbags absolute hell today

Mings is a big miss, don’t rate Chambers at all. Obviously hope he has a blinder though!

Didn’t realise Southampton signed Onuachu. Started to wonder if anyone would ever pick him up, remember signing him on football manager a few years ago as he was one of the only, or maybe only, strikers with 20/20 heading (at 6ft 7).
Might give that one a watch, was scoring goals for fun at Genk.

Stinker of a fixture list today, don’t think there’s a single game I’m bothered about watching.

It would be fantastic if Chelsea failed to achieve any kind of European competition next season, and they are trying their best.
Detestable club.

I hope they don’t do respective punishment. Taking titles off them now will mean nothing and let’s be honest, no respecting fan will want their team to be gifted an old title (Liverpool obviously will). They should get sanctions moving forward now though.
Does voiding their titles mean another team needs to be awarded it retrospectively though?
Completely disagree that taking honours from them mean nothing, I think it’s one of the few punishments that will actually mean something. A monetary fine and a points deduction this season would mean nothing.
If the investigation has proven unprecedented cheating over the last decade has been the backbone of their ‘success’ I have absolutely no issue with this being voided, in fact I welcome it.
I do agree that retrospectively awarding other teams honours is a non-starter though.

£10m then 17 games in the Portuguese league and a good World Cup later, £105m.
What on Earth are Chelsea playing at? Can’t see how it isn’t going to go completely tits up at this point.

January is always a funny window, nobody wants to lose any regulars, let alone their better players, midway through a season. Of course a star acquisition would have been nice, and I’m sure we tried.
But I do see little need to pay over the odds on a gamble now to try and cement Europe if the opportunity cost is the detriment of the summer window. Hopefully Emery has bought into this being a project and is here for the long haul, I’d much rather we were careful and got the right players in.

Gordon is bang average, McNeil at Burnley-vibes. What a hilarious piece of business, Everton will be laughing to the bank though.

I'm not hoping things go badly. I just can't for the life of me understand the short term mentality on here, it's every **** week.
If we lose, people are crying, screaming, kicking toys out of the pram, nothing's changed since Gerrard blah blah blah. If we win, Unai is a genius, everything is rosy and it doesn't matter what moves we make in the window, nothing could possibly go wrong and club decisions cannot and should not be questioned.
It's absurd how little perspective or balance there is, and tbh as much as I love the club, I can't stand half of our supporters. Change like the **** weather.
Anybody would think it’s a forum of 100s if not 1000s of people each with their own distinct opinion.
Id wager those who are actually flap flapping from one extreme to another on an individual level is a tiny minority.

Newcastle remind me of West Ham when they finished 6th and 7th with this play-style. Hopefully the wheels come off in a similar fashion

Is Martinez the best GK in the world? Genuine question.

To be fair only 1-2 people were saying that. Most people were pretty positive with our play through this match thread.
Wasn’t my intention to suggest otherwise. Don’t think I could handle the site if it was any more than a small minority.

Aside from us gaining the most points in the league since he's been here you mean?
Southampton were coming into form, and the game isn't over yet either.
PL placing doesn't always indicate form and matchups, i'll never understand how football fans don't get this.
They just beat Man City in the cup.
Exactly, let’s have some perspective.
Our record under Emery in the league has been phenomenal, particularly as it was hardly an easy run.

Swedish commentator thinking it's because of the arm in the back and totally oblivious to they guy stepping on the heel of the Villa player. What a joker.
I didn’t notice him stepping on his heel tbf, decisión makes more sense in that case.

Wow.
Evens out Ramseys penalty but that looked very soft to me.

I don't want to re-write Ings as the second coming of Yorke, but we may as well be playing with no forwards today, and we have absolutely no options. It looks like an absolutely ludicrous decision to me right now. This is exactly the kind of game I'd want him on.
I can only assume Dembele, or someone out the blue, is imminent as it does look self-destructive if not.

Can we please present some chances to anyone but Bailey? Please.
