It will be interesting to see if any clubs make a move for him once he’s officially done with England … nice bloke , good PR man but tactically inept and he’ll suffer the same fate as Gerrard and Lampard at club level imo

I can see a newly promoted Premier League side, probably a play-off winner, rolling the dice with him when sitting in relegation. Then he'll disappear all together from management and take a higher level role with the FA, or pundit work.

  2. Not watching but it sounds as turgid as a I expected, I have zero excitement or inclination to watch Southgate’s England.

Certainly wouldn’t be surprised to see us win with a late penalty or set-piece, he learns zero lessons and this continues on until this generation of talent has been throughly wasted. Yay.

  3. You never see added time added on as dutifully as when a minnow is getting a result against a big side.

No love for Saudi Arabia but have to appreciate the sporting achievement for what it is. That group suddenly looks very difficult:

    Argentina

    Saudi Arabia

    Poland

    Mexico

This is good, people like Beckham deserve to have their reputations tarnished for eternity.

Almost every comment is whining about him shredding the money then regarding the actual message.

Wouldn’t surprise me if what he shredded ended up being fake, which he’ll announce once maximum attention has been extracted and then donated to charity; Real money that is.

Are other people really better. Some people tried to make an elitist super league and they will be the main players trying to take over

maybe but was more to the fact that people saying he would get more minutes here. Archer is who the fans want to see play and the last manager gave him nothing in game time and would probably be the same for Chuk

Comparing apples and oranges for me, Archer isn't being touted as one of the world's best youth players.

Carney got, considerably, more minutes than players in his age range last season (under 19) and 3rd of all players under 20.

He is currently 13th in his age range (under 20) and incrementing a year up is 27th of all players under 21.

  9. Hate it but it’s on the officials to do something about it. I take it as a given that players will do, and push to the limit, everything they can to extract an advantage.

  10. 6 points against United and Brighton away, would have been lucky to scrape 1 under Gerrard I feel.

Only going to improve as the squad become accustomed and Carlos to return. Also to be cliche but Sanson could also be like a new-signing.

Squad quality is clearly there to be at least pushing top-half, that nonsense can now firmly be put to bed, and as a bonus Emery will have the opportunity in Jan to further improve where he identifies.

Never understood time wasting as they just add it on in stoppage time regardless.

    Never anywhere near enough tbf.

Plus time wasting in injury time itself is very rarely adjusted for. One for a different thread but I’d be quite happy with clock stoppages think it would cut out the bulk of it immediately.

    Edit:

    Apart from tomorrow apparently haha

  12. Warning signs were there from almost the first minute.

Looked petrified and extremely uncomfortable with the ball at his feet and was caught out with his positioning a couple of times within the first 20 minutes or so, resulting in Chambers sweeping up with an awkward back pass and another with Olsen having to put it out for a corner.

Got no better as the game went on, gifted them a goal with his awful "distribution". Suspect Emi would have been out to claim the 4th goal also, he was almost comically rooted to his line for a large portion of the game.

Might be a decent shot stopper, no idea if true to be honest, but the rest of his game and confidence is nowhere near the level required.
