  1. if there was one player you didnt want that chance to fall to...
  2. looking at that chelsea line up i can see why houllier thought it was a safe game to rest a few of our big names
  3. Fickle? Its form mate, Heskey is in it, for about the first time in his career, so he should be starting. Gutted he's not made it to be honest. you gotta feel for the bloke havent you? for the first time since he was at leicester his own teams fans actually want him in the team and he isnt fit to play!!!
  4. yeah, this is the first real chance ireland will have had to play in the position that most people say is his most effective
  5. well, assuming gabby and heskey are both injured, the only other option would be the fonz leading the line. at home against the reigning champions leaving carew on the bench and expecting fonz to come in and do that having not featured for the first team at all so far would be a tall ask and also put the manager in a damned if he does, damned if he doesnt situation.
  6. off topic, but - good work the baggies!
  7. 4 years with no squad rotation and we're all scratching our heads wondering wtf is going on when someone other than the "chosen xi" gets a start
  8. looks an odd line up on paper but none of the "missing" players are on the bench either so i guess they must all be out injured. if that is the case then i guess its probably the best team he could pick - with the exception of cuellar. houllier is a footballING mananger though (as in "god gave us grass to play football on...") and beye is probably a better on-the-deck player than cuellar, even if he as probably a worse out and out defender.
  9. i dont think anyone really believes that he is. i know he was sent on to play wide, but if he had been put on up front it would have been instead of heskey and i have my doubts as to whether gabby would have scored that header, so in todays game you have to say that gh got it right. i think he was also put there just to try and stretch the play out a bit and effectively help our defense out by putting on someone with pace, without changing our formation. everybody knows gabby is quick and by having him on the pitch it means that an extra player from the opposition has to stay back when they attack. on a more general note regarding it, i think gabby needs to be sent out wide sometimes so that when he makes a run he can attack the goal rather than doing what he tends to do - starting a run from the middle and ending up by the corner flag.
  10. i thought we did pretty well first half, but then the second half was like watching in slow motion. wolves scoring was as predictable as night following day as we were diabolical in the second half. fair shout to the lads though because they came away with three points and that is the most important thing. perfomances are rarely classy when you are away from home in a local derby, and ash and cuellar were the stand outs for me because they didnt stop battling. as for this talk about luke young - last season the same winger made an absolute mug out of cuellar so regardless of however good or bad you think he played today, for my money it was an improvement over last season. also - ironically, the player who was there last season was todays man of the match - playing in his RIGHT position!
  11. i reckon these performances are all a ploy by randy to get the fans united and behind houllier when he eventually starts
  12. in the words of father jack: "A R S E"
  13. i know its not funny cos the bloke is in pain, but downing = 2 tackles, twice injured!
  14. i didnt, and still dont have a problem with the way kmac decided to approach the game - it could have worked and early on we were playing well and got in front. BUT why the fook hasnt he tried to change anything since bolton clearly got the upper hand? this is like watching mons rigid management all over again.
  15. being followed with this one: What irony - I have always said I don't want Mcdonald, and always said MON was a terrific manager ? No conflict in what I said here didnt say it was a conflict - its ironic, you calling people who criticsed mon as "know-alls" but then saying you are glad its kevin (fifteen years of reserve team management at villa) macdonalds last game! you arent a "know-all" though...
  16. does no-one else see any irony in this statement: being followed with this one:
  17. ooh - theres that nike quality for you...
  18. now theres a thought - half a team of wingers, and in the 71st minute it occurs to you that they need someone to aim at...
  19. cant believe davies hadnt been booked before that
  20. but he's our top scorer
  21. good overlap from warnock there
  22. oh great - downing makes his first tackle in a villa shirt and gets injured - how long we will have to wait for him to try THAT again???
  23. wenger just stands there like a fookin tailors dummy most of the time and mourinho has a face like he's in a dentists waiting room - does it make the slightest bit of difference?
  24. its obviously some new fangled continental thing...
  25. is everyone aware of the score at white heart lane?
